The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Jan. 16

No arrests were made.

• A burglary was investigated at 6:16 a.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A report of suspicious persons was investigated at 372 Old Whitfield Street at 12:15 p.m. Two males were reportedly prowling around the garage during the early morning hours, around 1:25 a.m.

• An animal complaint was investigated on South Hoop Pole Road at 1:44 p.m. A black German shepherd was roaming by Little Meadow Road. Police could not locate the canine.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 830 Boston Post Road at 3:44 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 17

No arrests were made.

• A sex offender registration was made at 12:29 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 3:58 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

Saturday, Jan. 18

• A 49 year-old man of Middle Road was arrested at 5:13 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. He was processed on a $2,500 bond.

• A complaint about an animal was investigated on Whitfield Street at 7:56 a.m. A roaming dog was captured and brought to the animal shelter.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 3:45 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 19

• A 52 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 8:20 a.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the first degree. He was processed on a $25,000 surety bond.

• A 20 year-old Madison man was arrested at 5 p.m. and charged with illegal possession of weapons in a motor vehicle, sale of a controlled substance, failure to return expired plates, falsifying a marker, license, or registration, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. He was processed on a $5,000 bond.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1575 Boston Post Road at 1:50 a.m. Tire tracks were in the snow of the lawn. There did not appear to be any damage but the complainant wanted the incident documented.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 11:21 a.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A 54 year-old woman of Durham Road was arrested at 5:10 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A criminal mischief was investigated at 500 Route 80 at 3:18 p.m.

• A motor vehicle crash on private property was investigated on Partridge Lane at West Lake Avenue. A deer was struck and was in the roadway.

• A complaint about an unwanted person was investigated on Hart Landing Road at 6:51 p.m.

• A complaint about an animal was investigated on Bluff View Drive at Durham Road. A bobcat was struck by a vehicle. The complainant was not sure if the animal was still alive.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 8 p.m.

• A motor vehicle crash on private property was investigated at 1445 Boston Post Road at 11:50 a.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 7:29 p.m. The location was redacted by police for privacy reasons.

Saturday, Feb. 1

No arrests were made.

• A report of sudden death was investigated on Boston Post Road at 8:57 a.m.

• A complaint about animals was investigated on Russet Drive at 10:31 a.m. A yellow, medium-sized dog with a white face was roaming on the complainant’s yard. The dog had tags and an electric collar.

• A complaint about animals was investigated on the 900 block of West Make Avenue at 12:32 p.m. Two golden doodles with collars were roaming. Police could not find the dogs.

• A possible larceny was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 6:12 p.m. A man was climbing on construction equipment.

• Sudden death was investigated at 6:35 p.m. The location was redacted by police for privacy reasons.

Sunday, Feb. 2

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1 Moose Hill Road at 11:40 a.m. A mailbox was blown up during the overnight house.

• Harassment was investigated on the 200 block of Stonehedge Lane at 12:57 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 3

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about a roaming dog was investigated on Edwin Court at 5:16 p.m. The call was cancelled by the complainant after the dog was collected by its owner.

Tuesday, Feb. 4

No arrests were made.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 161 Sachems Head Road at 5:10 a.m.

• A noise complaint was investigated on Joyce Street at 6:31 a.m. A truck was off-loading at Algonquin Industries. The incident was not a violation of the town noise ordinance.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 101 Sachems Head Road at 7:28 a.m.

• Disorderly conduct was investigated at 6:34 p.m. The location was redacted by police for privacy reasons.

• A motor vehicle crash on private property was investigated on Notch Hill Road at Boston Post Road at 9:42 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 23

• A 49 year-old man of Middle Road was arrested at 6:11 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, illegal possession of weapons in a motor vehicle, illegal sale of fireworks, violation of a protective order, possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis. He was processed on a $20,000 surety bond.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 10:43 a.m. The location was redacted by police.

• A complaint about fraud via a scam telephone call was investigated at 38 Munger Road at 11:26 a.m.

• A complaint about a roaming German Shepherd was investigated on Quidnet Court at 11:01 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 25

• A 29 year-old East Haven woman was arrested at 1:45 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and speeding at over 60 per hour on a secondary road.

• A larceny was investigated at 3:49 p.m. at 490 Boston Post Road. Several items were taken from the store by an older male.

Sunday, Jan. 26

• A 25 year-old man of Cornwall Lane was arrested at 1:52 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• On going neighbor trouble was investigated on West Lake Avenue at 11:33 a.m.

• A burglary was investigated at 106 Lynn Drive at 11:46 a.m. Wood and construction supplies were taken during the overnight hours.

Monday, Jan. 27

• A 48 year-old Branford man was arrested at 3:09 p.m. and charged with three counts of violation of probation. He was processed on a combined $67,500 surety bond.

Tuesday, Jan. 28

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about a low-flying plane was investigated on Barnshed Lane near Northwood Drive at 12:38 p.m. Tweed airport in New Haven was advised that an AC-130 military aircraft was flying at 800 feet altitude. The FAA was also contacted.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 45 Edwin Court at 1:29 p.m. A wrought iron fence was damaged sometime over the past three weeks.

• A larceny was investigated at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 2:48 p.m.

• A drug overdose was investigated at 10:26 p.m. and an undisclosed address.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 1919 Boston Post Road at 2:06 p.m. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A larceny was investigated at 1116 Boston Post Road at 5:27 p.m. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

Thursday, Feb. 6

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about two goats in the roadway was investigated on the 2100 block of Durham Road at 7:29 a.m. The goats were back in the rear of a field when police arrived.

• A large animal was located in a Dumpster at 2772 Boston Post Road at 1:13 p.m.

• Ammunition was surrendered at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 6:39 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated on Marshall Avenue at 7:23 p.m. The complainant, who lives in South Carolina, reported that her deceased aunt’s credit cards were being used.

Friday, Feb. 7

• A 19 year-old Stratford man was arrested at 9:50 a.m. and charged with larceny in the second degree, criminal mischief in the first degree, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, and using a motor vehicle without permission.

• A complaint about fraud (via harassing scam phone calls) was investigated at 105 North Madison Road at 10:58 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated a Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 10:08 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 8

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud via scammed gift cards was investigated at 30 Grey Ledge Drive at 9:38 a.m.

Sunday, Feb. 9

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about all-terrain vehicles being driven on Guilford Land Conservation Trust property was investigated on Bluff View Drive at 12:23 a.m. The investing officer heard engine sounds, which ended shortly after his arrival at the location. Police could not find the culprits.

• Repossession of a vehicle was conducted at 2785 Boston Post Road by Signal Lending Company at 3:03 a.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 4:33 p.m. The location was redacted by police for privacy concerns.

• Suspicious activity was investigated on Kimberly Drive at 7:19 p.m. An anonymous caller reported that a man in his 20s was waiting by the roadside. The caller through it was suspicious when he stated that he was waiting for his girlfriend to drop off his child. The man was gone when police arrived at the location.

Monday, Feb. 10

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on East River Road at 8:52 a.m.

• Harassment was investigated at 736 Boston Post Road at 5:29 p.m. The complainant had an issue with a person who was repeatedly calling the company.

Tuesday, Feb. 11

No arrests were made.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 24 Putzel Avenue at 12:05 p.m. The complainant’s Vehicle Identification Number was removed when she had the windshield replaced in Hartford.

• A complaint about social security identity fraud was investigated at 1693 Great Hill Road at 1:04 p.m.

• A garbage dumping violation at St. George’s Cemetery was investigated on Durham Road at Hubbard Road at 4:37 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 1700 Little Meadow Road at 9:58 p.m. A flag was taken.

Wednesday. Feb. 12

No arrests were made.

Thursday, Feb. 13

• A 20 year-old man of New York, New York was arrested at 7:45 a.m. and charged with larceny in the fourth degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the fourth degree, and conspiracy to commit larceny in the fourth degree following an investigation at 850 Boston Post Road. He was processed on a $2,500 bond.

• A 21 year-old woman of Palisades Park, New Jersey was arrested at 7:45 a.m. and charged with larceny in the fourth degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the fourth degree, and conspiracy to commit larceny in the fourth degree following an investigation at 850 Boston Post Road. She was processed on a $2,500 bond.

• A larceny was investigated by a resident of 71 Horseshoe Road at 7:45 a.m. The larceny was reported to have occurred behind Naples Pizza.

• A complaint about forgery was investigated at 157 Goose Lane at 10:01 a.m.

• A complaint about a dog fight was investigated at 28 Vineyard Avenue at 10:19 a.m.

• A complaint about a dog that came onto private property was investigated on the 1300 block of Route 80 at 10:21 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at Page Hardware at 2:30 p.m. A theft of merchandise the day before was captured on video.

• A minor motor vehicle crash in which the offending driver evaded (fled) the scene was investigated at 65 Water Street at 7:05 p.m. The complainant reported that while he was driving southbound on Route 77, south of Route 80, a payloader loaded with debris side-swiped his/her vehicle and broke of a wing mirror.

Friday, Feb. 14

• A concerned citizen on Barnshed Lane turned a broken firearm over to police at 11:08 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud via a scam social security incident was investigated at 148 North Fair Street at 4:26 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1005 Maple Hill Road at 12:57 a.m. A mailbox was damaged. The suspect vehicle was noted at a silver four-door Chevy pick-up truck that was last seen heading westbound on Route 80. The mailbox at 771 Maple Hill Road was also damaged.

Monday, Feb. 17

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 246 South Hoop Pole Road at 11:33 a.m. A mailbox was damaged.

Tuesday, Feb. 18

• Threatening was investigated at 10:54 a.m. The location was redacted by police for privacy concerns.

Wednesday, Feb. 19

• A 29 year-old Wallingford man was arrested at 10:15 a.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, conspiracy to commit criminal mischief in the second degree, larceny in the sixth degree, and conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 405 Old Whitfield Street at 1:22 a.m.

• A complaint about attempted fraud via the U.S. Mail was investigated at 55 Soundview Road at 5:11 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 20

• A larceny was investigated at 1919 Boston Post Road at 1:29 p.m. Two women stole large amounts of fragrance and left the store after being confronted by store personnel. The women drove away in a small grey sedan bearing orange New York license plates.

• A fight was reported at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 2:16 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 7:02 p.m. The location was redacted by police for privacy concerns.

Friday, Feb. 21

• A 37 year-old woman of Flat Meadow Road was arrested at 10:45 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway.

• Thefts from motor vehicles were investigated at 216 Sperry Drive at 2:19 a.m. and 70 Raymond Road at 2:24 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at Guilford Lake Association on Lakeside Drive at North Madison Road. A solid wood sign painted green and gold was stolen. Only the posts remained.

• A motor vehicle crash was reported in front of Guilford Savings Bank, 625 Boston Post Road, at 5:04 p.m. The operator of the offending vehicle left a note with contact information on the victim vehicle.

• A larceny was investigated at 830 Boston Post Road at 10:02 p.m. A man wearing a knit hat and glasses attempted to pass a counterfeit $50 bill.

Saturday, Feb. 22

• A 51 year-old Willimantic man was arrested at 10:02 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree, criminal impersonation, forgery in the first degree, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, and failure to appear in the second degree on an outstanding warrant. He was processed on a combined $6,000 surety bond.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 592 Saw Hill Road at 4:13 p.m. A house was egged during the overnight hours. The complainant had an audio recording of the incident from a from a Ring camera.

Sunday, Feb. 23

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 100 block of Union Street at 3:22 p.m. The complaint reported that the neighbor across the street splits wood on the weekends, which the complainant believes is excessive.

Monday, Feb. 24

• A 33 year-old man of Church Street was arrested at 8:34 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to pay or plead a citation.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 10:05 a.m. The location was redacted by police for privacy concerns.

• A counterfeiting complaint was investigated at police headquarters at 1:54 p.m. A walk-in complainant received a fake $20 bill.

• A complaint about a fraudulent check was investigated at 5419 Durham Road at 5:28 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 25

• A complaint about a person walking around a house and taking pictures was investigated at 1517 Moose Hill Road. The person was an insurance representative taking photos of the property.

Wednesday, Feb. 26

• A larceny (shoplifting) was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 11:13 a.m.

Thursday, Feb. 27

• A credit card was found at Walmart at 1:07 p.m. The card was returned to the owner.

Friday, Feb. 28

• A motor vehicle crash in the post office parking lot, 42 Water Street, was investigated at 9:15 a.m. One driver reported neck pain and the ambulance was requested.

• A complaint about credit card fraud was investigated at 800 Boston Post Road at 9:52 a.m.

• A complaint about identification fraud was investigated at 164 East Bearhouse Hill Road at 10:25 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 1310 Boston Post Road at 11:48 a.m.

Saturday, Feb. 29

• A 42 year-old man of Bunker Hill Road was arrested at 5:08 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident in which there was property damage or bodily injury), and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway.

• A 22 year-old Branford woman was arrested at 5:52 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree, credit card theft, and charging less than $500 on a revoked credit card.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 140 Red Barns Road at 8:51 a.m.

• A complaint about identity theft was investigated at 200 Landons Way at 3:22 p.m.

• A 22 year-old man of Wilderwood Drive was arrested at 7:40 a.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and assault in third degree.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 6:29 a.m. The complainant in the case was the North Branford Police Department. The location was redacted by police for privacy concerns.

• A complaint about check fraud was investigated at 319 Boston Post Road at 2:17 pm.

• A complaint about possible fraud attempt via the U.S. Mail was investigated at 399 Boston Post Road at 4:04 p.m.

Wednesday, March 4

No arrests were made.

• Breach of peace was investigated at 1675 Boston Post Road at 2:05 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated on West lake Avenue at 5:43 p.m.

• Nine child safety seat inspections/installations were conduced between 6:36 and 7 p.m.
