Wednesday, July 3
• A 31 year-old Middletown man was arrested at 7:52 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, and passing on the right.
Thursday, July 4
No arrests were made.
• A 21 year-old Higganum man was issued a citation at 5:25 a.m. for failure to drive right. He was operating a 2010 Honda Pilot when he fell asleep and struck a guardrail. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.

• A 32 year-old Guilford man was issued a citation at 7:25 a.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway. No injuries were reported or observed.
Thursday, July 18

• A 48 year-old Branford man was issued a written warning at 9:52 a.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart. He was operating a 2008 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Saybrook Road when he struck the rear end of a 2010 Subaru operated by a 29 year-old Meriden man who was stopped for traffic. No injuries were reported or observed.

Saturday, July 27

• A 39 year-old Old Saybrook man was issued a citation at 2:28 p.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart. He was operating a 1998 International 4000 Series 4700 on Route 154 when he struck the rear of a 2019 Ford Econoline E450 operated by a 68 year-old Old Saybrook woman. No one was injured in the crash and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Sunday, July 28

• A motor vehicle crash was investigated on Westbrook Road near South Winds Drive at 7:55 p.m. A 48 year-old Deep River woman was operating a 2013 BMW 328xi northbound on Westbrook Road when she entered a curve in the roadway, drifted to the left across the oncoming lane, and drove off the roadway and struck a utility pole. She was transported to a medical facility for injuries sustained in the crash. No enforcement action was indicated in the police press report.
Monday, July 29
No arrests were made.
• A motor vehicle crash was investigated on Mares Hill Road at Westbrook Road (Route 153) at 9:08 a.m. A 53 year-old woman of Windswept Ridge Road in Ivoryton was operating a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring when she struck the rear of a 2001 BMW 325IT operated by a 46 year-old Deep River woman. Both vehicles were stopped at the intersection of Mares Hill Road southbound and Westbrook Road when the operator of the Mazda started forward from a standing position and struck the rear of the BMW. Minor damage resulted and no one was injured in the crash. No enforcement action was indicated in the police press report.

• A hit-and-run crash was investigated on Hemlock Drive at 10:20 a.m. The operator of an unknown vehicle struck a 2002 Nissan Maxima on the left side that was parked and unoccupied in the street in front of 84 Hemlock Drive.

Tuesday, July 16
• A 47 year-old Niantic man was arrested on a warrant at 3:30 p.m. charging him with public indecency. The accused was operating a Subaru bearing Connecticut plate AK90141 on Route 154 in Deep River when spotted by officers who were aware of the outstanding arrest warrant. The alleged victims in the case were an 18 year-old Killingworth woman and a 17 year old girl who were exposed to the accused while he was washing his genitals in the sink at the gym at the Piano Works apartment complex. He had left the door to the bathroom open to public view. According to the details of the arrest warrant application, the accused then stood in the doorway of the bathroom and masturbated in front of the girls. The witnesses stated that earlier, then the accused walked past them on the way to the gym bathroom, had had emanated the strong odor of marijuana and cigarette smoke. The accused stated that while in the gym he experienced groin pain. He explained that he had a cut in his groin area and decided to wash the cut in the gym bathroom. He stated that he saw the two females but proceed to the bathroom. He explained to police that he could only focus on one task at a time due his being tired and because he believed he had low blood sugar at the time. He said he left the bathroom door open and proceeded to wash his genitals, but that he was not masturbating. Although the security cameras at the complex were not functional at the time, according to the facility manager’s statement to police, officers felt there was probable cause to apply for the arrest warrant. The accused was processed on a $2,500 bond.

• A 35 year-old Meriden man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 2:40 a.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident) and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway. He lost control of the vehicle he was operating and struck a concrete barrier.

Sunday, July 28
• A 21 year-old man of Chestnut Street in Ivoryton was arrested at 2:10 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive right. He was operating a 2008 Mazda eastbound on Kirtland Street when he swerved off the roadway into the driveway of 139 Kirtland Street (near St. John School Road) and collided with a parked and unoccupied 2010 Subaru Impreza. The Subaru rolled over as a result of the impact of the crash. The Mazda came to an uncontrolled stop against a fence located on the property.

• A 34 year-old man of Castle View Drive was issued verbal warning at 11:50 a.m. for unsafe backing. He was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer backward out of the driveway of 29 Castle View Drive when he struck a 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata operated by a 34 year-old man of the home across the street. No one was injured in the crash.

• A 32 year-old New Britain man was issued a citation at 12:09 p.m. for failure to drive right after he lost control on the 2005 Toyota Camry he was operating, exited the roadway, and struck a rock. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not injured in the crash.
