Police Incident Report for June 26 to July 23


The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Clinton

Monday, July 1

Tuesday, July 2

No arrests were made.

• A 27 year-old Killingworth man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 6:36 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and traveling unreasonably fast.

Wednesday, July 3

• An 18 year-old man of Liberty Village was arrested at 2:43 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, assault in the third degree, strangulation in the second degree, and unlawful restraint in the first degree.

Thursday, July 4

No arrests were made.

• An animal bite was reported at 7 Pallenberg Drive at 4:07 p.m. A dog bit the complainant’s hand.

• A brush fire caused by fireworks was reported at 9 Buell Court at 7:37 p.m. Police response was canceled by the fire department before the responding officer arrived.

Friday, July 5

• A 28 year-old man of Fir Ridge Road was arrested at 3:35 p.m. and charged with violation of probation.

• A 44 year-old woman of Fir Ridge Road was arrested at 5:10 p.m. on a warrant charging her with failure to pay or plead a citation.

• A 29 year-old man of Walnut Street was issued a misdemeanor summons at 3:30 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, failure to signal a turn, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway following a motor vehicle stop on East Main Street near Beach Road.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at 266 East Main Street at 3:48 p.m.

Saturday, July 6

• A 37 year-old woman of Sunnybrook Lane was arrested at 2 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A report of an animal bite was investigated at 118 Long Hill Road at 8:40 a.m. A cattle dog bit the complainant’s hand the prior day and the hand was now swollen. The Shoreline Clinic reported the dog bite to police.

• A larceny of an expected package was investigated at 35 Hammock Road at 12:56 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 215 East Main Street was arrested at 1:29 p.m. A woman stole Budweiser tall boys, which she placed in her purse. The woman was a suspect in a similar case earlier in the week that occurred in Madison.

• Harassment was investigated on the 100 block of East Main Street at 4:15 p.m. An argument took place over the removal of trees between two properties.

Sunday, July 7

Monday, July 8

• A 44 year-old Hartford man was arrested at 5:05 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree, illegal possession of a shoplifting device, and possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis following a shoplifting incident at 20 Killingworth Turnpike.

Tuesday, July 9

No arrests were made.

• A theft was investigated at 7 Glenwood Road at 6:07 p.m. A white female entered the store and 45 minutes later took a bag off the shelf, filled it with dog toys, and left the store without paying. When confronted by store personnel, she fled the scene. The woman’s license plate on her white Jeep Wrangler (plate number AP77629) was recorded and traced to a 32 year-old New Haven woman. New Haven police were contacted to assist in the case. The value of the items stolen was around $300.

Wednesday, July 10

• A 60 year-old Westbrook woman was arrested at 5:15 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree.

Thursday, July 11

No arrests were made.

• A 27 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration and improper use of a marker plate.

Friday, July 12

• A 41 year-old woman of Old Mill Road was arrested at 10:45 p.m. and charged with assault in the third degree.

• A 63 year-old woman of David Farm Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:10 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident in which there was property damage or bodily injury).

• A 35 year-old man of Westerly, Rhode Island was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:28 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, having the improper number of headlights, and failure to have rear marker lights.

• A 44 year-old man of Old Mill Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:54 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

Saturday, July 13

• A 34 year-old Branford man was arrested at 1:34 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, violation of readable plates, and failure to signal a turn following a motor vehicle stop on Killingworth Turnpike near the Interstate 95 southbound entrance.

• A 53 year-old Madison man was arrested at 7 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 41 year-old woman of Old Mill Road (the same woman arrested the day before) was arrested again at 9:10 p.m. and charged with violation of a protective order.

• A 69 year-old man of Canterbury Lane was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:11 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and improper use of marker plates.

• A 21 year-old Wallingford man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:19 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

Monday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 3

Thursday, July 4

• A 23 year-old Madison man was arrested at 1:24 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident in which there was property damage or bodily injury), and failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart.

• A 42 year-old Guilford woman was arrested at 9:57 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs with passengers under the age of 18 onboard and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway. She was operating a 2015 Honda Civic westbound on Boston Post Road near #1835 when she struck a utility pole. The driver’s 12 year-old son and 10 year-old daughter were onboard.

Friday, July 5

• A 49 year-old man of Chittenden Hill Road was arrested at 2:55 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree.

Saturday, July 6

Sunday, July 7

• An 18 year-old Old Lyme woman was arrested at 1:34 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in the third degree. The alleged victim was 56 years of age.

• A 53 year-old East Hartford woman was arrested at 4:55 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and improper parking.

• A 44 year-old man of Johnston, Rhode Island was arrested at 8:51 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to grant right of way at an intersection.

Monday, July 8

• A 45 year-old Middletown man was arrested at 10:08 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs

• A 19 year-old Cromwell man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1:43 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension flowing a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Donnelly Road.

Tuesday, July 2

• A 60 year-old Deep River man was arrested at 7:13 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to obey a traffic control signal.

• A 31 year-old New London woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:58 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Springbrook Road.

Wednesday, July 3

No arrests were made.

• A 28 year-old Clinton woman was issued a citation at 9:40 a.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis on Lynde Street.

• A 21 year-old Ivoryton man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 2:34 a.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis on Boston Post Road at Middlesex Turnpike.

• A 61 year-old man of Elm Street was issued a citation at 12:53 p.m. for simple trespass on Maynard Road.

Friday, July 5

• A 21 year-old West Hartford woman was arrested at 1:14 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and traveling unreasonably fast.

Saturday, July 6

• A 48 year-old man of Ferry Road was arrested at 12:47 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, and failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Sunday, July 7

• A 61 year-old Florida man was arrested at 1:20 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway, and making an improper signal for a turn.

• A 43 year-old Westbrook man was arrested at 8:31 a.m. and charged with two counts of violation of a protective order. He was held on a $10,000 surety bond he could not post.

• A 15 year-old was arrested at 2:01 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the third degree.

• A 43 year-old man of Boston Post Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:41 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Elm Street.

• A 25 year-old Clinton man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 4:44 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart following a motor vehicle crash on Main Street at Maple Street.

• A 51 year-old East Hartford woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:22 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle crash in which there was property damage or bodily injury on Ferry Road.

• A 29 year-old woman of Peekskill, New York was arrested at 9:49 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree under the Domestic Violence Act. In the same incident a 24 year-old woman of Peekskill, New York was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

Monday, July 8

• A 17 year-old was arrested at 8:24 p.m. and charged with possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis, traveling unreasonably fast, and violation of passenger restrictions imposed on a 16- or 17 year-old driver.

• A 56 year-old woman of Boston Post Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:27 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension following a motor vehicle stop on Stage Road at Boston Post Road.

• A 20 year-old man of North Grafton, Massachusetts was issued a citation at 8:58 p.m. for use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

Tuesday, July 9

• A 19 year-old man of Seacrest Road was arrested at 12:46 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to obey a traffic control signal, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

• A 25 year-old Branford woman was arrested at 9:08 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

Wednesday, July 10

• A44 year-old Branford woman was arrested at 1 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway.

• A 36 year-old Killingworth man was arrested at 10:22 a.m. and charged with larceny in the first degree and credit card theft on a warrant held by the Old Saybrook Police Department.

• A 61 year-old man of Elm Street was arrested at 10:33 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 62 year-old woman of Clark Avenue was issued a misdemeanor summons at 2:40 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operating of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident in which there was property damage or bodily injury).

Thursday, July 11

• A 50 year-old man of Ayers Point Road was issued a citation at 9:02 p.m. for failure to license a dog.

Friday, July 12

• A 23 year-old man of Surrey Lane was arrested at 12:20 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, having an improper number of headlights, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

• A 26 year-old Deep River man was arrested at 6:36 a.m. and charged with breach of peace.

• A 25 year-old Hartford man was issued a citation at 3:42 p.m. for possession of less than one-half of cannabis following an investigation on Main Street near Elm Street.

Saturday, July 13

• A 21 year-old Deep River man was arrested at 4:53 p.m. and charged with harassment in the second degree on a warrant held by the Old Saybrook Police Department.

• A 19 year-old Old Lyme man was arrested at 4:53 p.m. and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of fireworks, two counts of use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension. He was processed on a $50,000 surety bond.

• A 35 year-old man of Essex Road was arrested at 8:41 p.m. and charged with possession of controlled substance, use of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis. In the same incident a 40 year-old woman of Dowd Road was issued a citation for possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis on Boston Post Road at Ingham Hill Road.

• A 23 year-old man Essex Road was arrested at 9:58 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of a controlled substance, and traveling unreasonably fast following a motor vehicle stop on Ferry Road at Ragged Rock Marina.
