Police Incident Report for May 30 to June 19


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, May 30

• A 31 year-old homeless man of Branford was arrested at 1:30 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

• A dumping violation of possible hazardous materials was reported in the woods on Hart Road near Stone Boat Road at 4:56 p.m.

• A theft of plants was investigated at 110 Wheeler Path at 5:15 p.m. Police determined that the plants were not stolen but in fact eaten by a wild animal.

Friday, May 31

• A 31 year-old New Haven man was arrests at 3:47 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to respond to a citation.

• A noise complaint was investigated on Wilderwood Drive at 10:33 a.m. A neighbor on nearby Jefferson Drive was playing extremely loud music. When spoken to by the complainant the music was turned up louder.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 121 Seaside Avenue at 3:26 p.m.

Saturday, June 1

• A 44 year-old man of Saw Pit Road was arrested at 1:48 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act.

• A 23 year-old man of Old Whitfield Street was arrested at 5:02 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the second degree on a person age 60 or older or who is pregnant or handicapped.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 31 Fernwood Drive at 9:35 a.m. A lamp post was pushed over, which blocked the driveway, and a mailbox was damaged.

• A counterfeiting complaint was investigated at Walmart, 90 Boston Post Road, at 6:31 p.m.

Sunday, June 2

• A 39 year-old Branford man was arrested at 5:37 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle while under license and registration suspension for a DUI conviction, and failure to drive upon the right. He was arrested in front of Walmart, 90 Boston Post Road. While in custody he was also charged with failure to appear in the second degree on an outstanding warrant.

• A 54 year-old man of Saw Pit Road was arrested at 2:16 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 5151 Durham Road at 12:24 p.m. A mailbox was knocked over.

• A larceny was investigated at Walgreens, 1116 Boston Post Road, at 5:20 p.m.

Monday, June 3

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, June 4

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud via the Internet was investigated at 48 Edwin Court at 1:41 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at Deli Unlimited, 1099 Boston Post Road, at 1:44 p.m.

Wednesday, June 5

• A 25 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 10:15 a.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree.

Thursday, June 6

• A 54 year-old man of Ruggles Road was arrested at 1:54 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

• A 48 year-old man of Hubbard Road was arrested at 6:43 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 56 year-old Madison man was arrested at 9:50 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway.

• A complaint about a black Ford F150 driven by an older male who was swerving on Interstate 95 and exited onto Goose Lane was investigated at 10:05 a.m. Police could not locate the suspect vehicle.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on New England Road at 12:42 p.m.

• A report of minors consuming liquor was investigated at 1:44 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A complaint about a panhandler on the sidewalk was investigated on Boston Post Road at State Street at 5:04 p.m.

Friday, June 7

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated at 10:13 a.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A larceny was investigated at 39 Mulberry Point Road at 12:22 p.m. Plywood was taken from a job site.

Saturday, June 8

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 259 Wilburs Lane at 1:57 a.m. A speed limit sign was missing.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 492 Saw Mill Road at 7:07 a.m. A mailbox was damaged and knocked off its pole.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 869 North Madison Road at 9:22 a.m. A mailbox was damaged.

• A complaint about fraud involving a person outside the country who did not pay for a wedding was investigated at 51 Blackfoot Court at 11:11 a.m.

• A complaint about a snapping turtle going under the porch was investigated at 85 Laurel Road at 12:28 p.m. A third party recommended to the complainant that a barrier be built using plastic tables in front of the deck to prevent the turtle from going underneath.

• A complaint about a neighbor trapping animals and forcing them to be in the sun and heat was investigated on Edwards Street at 12:41 p.m. The complainant was advised that a squirrel was released from a trap.

• A complaint about loud and offensive music coming from the area was investigated on Saw Mill Road at 7:36 p.m. Many vehicles were parked in the area. Police contacted the homeowner, who advised that the band would stop playing at 10 p.m. in obeyance of the town noise ordinance.

Sunday, June 9

No arrests were made.

• The theft of a motor vehicle was investigated at 11:12 a.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• Harassment was investigated on Alpha Avenue at 1:37 p.m.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on River Colony at 7:20 p.m. A friend visiting a neighbor blocked a handicapped ramp. When asked to move the vehicle an argument ensued. The complainant left the residence after receiving threatening text messages from the neighbor.

Monday, June 10

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 934 Boston Post Road at 12:51 p.m. A person grabbed and cell phone and ran to a silver Honda Civic. A partial plate number was recorded. The vehicle fled toward Madison.

Tuesday, June 11

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 1:55 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

Wednesday, June 12

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Adirondack Lane at 11:45 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 20 Bunker Hill Road at 3:54 p.m.

Four domestic violence incidents were investigated during the week for which the location and all details were redacted by police.

Thursday, June 13

• A 23 year-old man of Pinebrook Circle was arrested at 7 p.m. and charged with operation of a drug factory, sale of a controlled substance, sale of a narcotic, sale of one kilogram or more of cannabis, possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

Friday, June 14

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 9:40 a.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A larceny was investigated at 64 Dohm Avenue was investigated at 11:53 a.m. Vehicles were entered and items taken.

• A larceny was investigated at 19 Overlook Lane at 11:55 a.m. Estate sale signs were taken.

• A larceny was investigated at 2:20 p.m. The location and all details of the theft were redacted by police.

• Neighbor trouble was reported at 4 Guilford Court at 4:35 p.m. The complainant was having difficulty with another resident.

• A larceny was investigated at 1919 Boston Post Road at 7:53 p.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

Saturday, June 15

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 451 Saw Mill Road at 9:19 p.m.

Sunday, June 16

• A 28 year-old Killingworth man was arrested at 12:48 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 570 New England Road at 9:52 a.m. Several mailboxes were damaged overnight.

• A larceny was investigated at 5:51 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

Monday, June 17

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Millinocket Trail at 8:35 p.m.

Tuesday, June 18

No arrests were made.

• Criminal trespass was investigated at 621 Old Pent Road at 9 a.m. ATVs were being operated at night. Damage was done to the complainant’s private property and to Guilford Land Conversation Trust property.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 934 Boston Post Road at 11:05. Graffiti was painted on the window of the AT&T store.

Wednesday, June 19

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 354 Old Whitfield Street at 10:02 a.m. Graffiti was reported by maintenance personnel.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 55 Boston Street at 11:21 a.m. A fence was damaged.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 31 Fernwood Drive at 4:55 p.m. A mailbox and light post were damaged.
