Police Incident Report for May 9 to 29


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, May 9

No arrests were made.

• A one-vehicle crash on private property without injuries was investigated at 715 Boston Post Road at 9:07 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud involving Bitcoin was investigated at 263 Three Mile Course at 1:21 p.m.

• A landlord/tenant dispute was investigated at 2821 Boston Post Road at 2 p.m. The complainant was being threatened with an eviction notice by the landlord.

• A motor vehicle crash on private property was investigated at 1057 Boston Post Road at 2:58 p.m. A caller reported that a red Subaru wagon struck her vehicle and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 233 Water Street at 3:05 p.m. The caller was a contractor working on the house at the listed address. He reported finding multiple arrows having been shot into the roof and other objects around the property.

Friday, May 10

• A 20 year-old West Haven woman was arrested at 8:18 p.m. and charged with sale of a controlled substance.

• Harassment was investigated on the 900 Boston Post Road at 6:53 a.m.

• A report of a stuck fisher cat in the roadway in front of 81 Mulberry Point Road was investigated at 4:21 p.m. The animal was dead on arrival of police. The carcass was removed from the roadway.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 70 Raymond Road at 6:53 p.m. A credit card was opened in the complainant’s name. The complainant needed the incident documented by police.

• A cannabis possession incident was investigated on Whitfield Street near the Green at 7 p.m. Five officers were involved in the investigation. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

Saturday, May 11

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 361 Weatherly Trail at 11:44 a.m. A bench was taken off the front of the property.

• A cannabis possession incident was investigated at 1057 Boston Post Road at 6:47 p.m. Five officers responded. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

Sunday, May 12

No arrests were made.

• A caller reported hearing 8 to 10 gunshots on the 2000 block of Little Meadow Road at 9:14 p.m. All was quiet when police checked the area.

Monday, May 13

• A 57 year-old Madison man was arrested at 6:35 a.m. and charged with two counts of failure to register as a convicted sex offender.

• Illegal dumping at a house construction site was reported at 472 Durham Road at 7:20 a.m.

• Littering was investigated at 467 Mulberry Point Road at 9:53 a.m. Broken liquor bottles were found at the end of the driveway. The complainant cleaned up the bottles.

• A sexual assault was investigated at 12:30 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A dumping violation was investigated at 468 Water Street at 3:30 p.m.

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 939 Hoop Pole Road at 3:36 p.m.

Tuesday, May 14

• A 39 year-old man of Church Street was arrested at 4:14 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway.

• Harassment was investigated on the 300 block of Race Hill Road at 9:16 a.m.

• A burglary was investigated at 31 Lake Drive at 10:16 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 1:03 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 1500 block of Little Meadow Road at 2 p.m.

• Criminal trespass was investigated at 90 Old Quarry Road at 7:15 p.m. An anonymous caller reported that two people and a dog were on a private section of the roadway.

Wednesday, May 15

No arrests were made.

• A 22 year-old Branford man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:46 a.m. for speeding at over 60 miles per hour on a secondary road following a motor vehicle stop on the 4000 block of Durham Road.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 481 Lake Drive at 3:30 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Middle Road at 5:31 p.m. The complainant daughter received harassing texts.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 25 Mafre Drive at 8:40 p.m.

• A noise complaint about a loud truck running behind Walmart was investigated at 900 Boston Post Road at 9:36 p.m. Police learned that mobile generators were running behind the plaza to supply electrical power the entire night while Eversource was working on the power supply lines to the plaza.

Thursday, May 16

No arrests were made.

• Threatening was investigated at Yale Shoreline Clinic, 111 Goose Lane, at 10:15 a.m.

• Harassment via unknown cell phone callers was investigated on the 300 block of Old Sachems Head Road at 1:42 p.m.

• A civil incident was reported at 32 Church Street at 4:34 p.m. A motor vehicle was damaged by a town employee who was cutting grass.

Friday, May 17

• A 20 year-old man of Gilbert Lane was arrested at 4:30 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.

• A complaint about an unwanted person or persons was investigated on the 1100 block of Route 80. An ex-boyfriend was using the house while the complainant was away.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at Village Walk at 3:06 p.m.

• A landlord/tenant dispute was investigated at 300 Boston Post Road at 3:19 p.m. A complainant was upset with the way she was being treated by persons at the front desk.

• A counterfeiting incident was investigated at 1148 Boston Post Road at 3:45. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A counterfeiting incident was investigated at 1116 Boston Post Road at 9:15 p.m. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 2500 block of Long Hill Road at 9:32 p.m.

Saturday, May 18

• A 21 year-old man of Chicopee, Massachusetts was arrested at 8:30 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and two counts of interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

• A fraud complaint was investigated at 33 Trolley Road at 1:38 p.m. An account was opened in the complainant’s name and a package was never delivered.

• A larceny was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 5:46 p.m.

Sunday, May 19

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated a Guilford Lakes Golf Course, 200 North Madison Road, at 9:33 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 500 Boston Post Road at 12:11 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at Medad Stone Tavern, 171 Three Mile Course, at 1:07 p.m. A sign was stolen from the entrance to the historic property.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Pearl Street at 4:18 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Wauwinet Court at 9:35 p.m.

• A 21 year-old Clinton man was arrested at 3:30 p.m. and charged with threatening in the second degree.

Tuesday, May 21

• A 28 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 9 p.m. and charged with larceny in the fifth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on North Street at 3:56 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 486 Durham Road at 4:13 p.m.

Wednesday, May 22

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on the 200 block of Weatherly Trail at 2:08 p.m. A husband’s girlfriend was harassing the complainant.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 5:08 a.m. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A complaint about a juvenile was investigated on the 200 block of Church Street at 10:09 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 2:16 p.m.

Wednesday, May 29

• A 36 year-old man of South Hoop Pole Road was arrested at 10 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.
