Police Incident Report April 18 to May 8


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, April 18

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 44 Surrey Lane at 8:09 a.m. The house was egged and obscene pictures were spray painted on the driveway.

• Harassment was investigated at 2458 Boston Post Road at 11:02 a.m.

• A public hazard was investigated on Boston Post Road near Flag Marsh Road at 8:33 p.m. A caller reported that furniture was in the roadway.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 880 Hoop Pole Road at 9:54 p.m. A dark pick-up truck struck a mailbox. The vehicle was seen heading toward Route 80.

Friday, April 19

No arrests were made.

• Neighborhood trouble was investigated on the 100 block of Tanner Marsh Road at 12:16 p.m. A neighbor harassed the complainant about her dogs.

• Harassment was investigated on the 300 block of Colonial Road at 7:42 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Colonial Road at 10:14 p.m. Five mailboxes were smashed.

• A larceny was investigated at 112 Stillmeadow Drive at 10:32 p.m. Both registration plates were stolen from a vehicle.

Saturday, April 20

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 4810 Durham Road at 10:21 p.m. A caller reported that the driveway light went on and a male ran down the driveway, entered a dark-colored passenger car, and sped southbound on Route 77. The complainant called back to report that he found spray paint on his garage.

Sunday, April 21

No arrests were made.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at Country Tavern Café, 704 Long Hill Road, at 3:13 p.m. A person at the bar caused problems then left in a green Ford F-150 pick-up truck. The subject was last seen heading toward Flag Marsh Road.

• A complaint about harassing phone calls from a landscaper was investigated on the 200 block of Elm Street at 7:13 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 9:54 p.m. The location of the incident was redacted by police.

Monday, April 22

• A 43 year-old man of Rock Lane was arrested at 11 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, traveling unreasonably fast, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A larceny was investigated at TCC/Verizon, 864 Boston Post Road, at 11:03 a.m. All details of the theft were redacted by police.

• Harassment was investigated on the 1300 block if Boston Post Road at 11:48 p.m.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at 500 Boston Post Road at 9:49 p.m.

Tuesday, April 23

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 9:56 a.m.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 78 Barker Hill Drive at 2:44 p.m. Credit cards were opened in the complainant’s name.

Wednesday, April 24

No arrests were made.

• The left of a motor vehicle was investigated at 351 Colonial Road at 9:41 a.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1073 Durham Road at 10:34 a.m. A sign was taken off the front lawn.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Jacobs Lane at 1:30 p.m.

• Threatening was investigated at Three Girls Vegan Creamery, 645 Boston Post Road, at 5:07 p.m.

Thursday, April 25

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 321 Village Walk at 3:57 p.m.

• A juvenile/minor complaint was investigated on Towner Swamp Road at 4:13 p.m.

Friday, April 26

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble (an ongoing issue) was investigated on the 500 block of Tanner Marsh Road at 10:49 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 164 Nut Plains Road at 11:40 a.m. The fraud incident occurred last year. The complainant wanted to document the incident.

Saturday, April 27

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 400 block of Peddlers Road at 11:29 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud via identity theft was investigated on Old Quarry Road at 11:53 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 455 White Birch Drive at 12:57 p.m. A mailbox was damaged during the prior overnight hours.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 1900 Route 80 at 2:43 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Sam Hill Road near Water Street at 6:37 p.m.

Sunday, April 28

• A 19 year-old Bristol woman was arrested at 1 a.m. and charged with filing a false incident report in the second degree and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

Monday, April 29

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated at Guilford Court at 3:22 p.m.

• A driver was wanted for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene) follow a motor vehicle crash in which a mailbox was damaged in front of 308 Granite Road at 5:14 p.m.

Tuesday, April 30

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 1:39 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 101 Sage Hollow Road at 2:18 p.m.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at 16 Dogwood Lane at 3:58 p.m. A homeowner yelled at a delivery driver.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at 1069 Boston Post Road at 5:10 p.m. The complainant was a Dunbar Armored employee. He was harassed when making a delivery to Webster Bank.

Wednesday, May 1

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated near 58 East River Road at 2:47 a.m. Graffiti was painted on the Interstate 95 overpass.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 500 block if Boston Post Road at 10:04 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at the Town Marina located at the end of Whitfield Street. A port-a-potty was knocked onto its side.

• An ill raccoon was reported on Raymond Road at 3:18 p.m. Police dispatched the animal with a sidearm in a wooded area away from residences.

Thursday, May 2

• A 49 year-old Branford man was arrested at 6:21 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, breach of peace in the second degree, and assault in the third degree.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 354 Old Whitfield Street at 8:23 a.m. Blue graffiti was recently painted on a brick building behind the Department of Public Works.

• A vehicle repossession was reported at 2496 Long Hill Road by Skyline Recovery at 8:23 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 209 Durham Road at 12:06 p.m.

Friday, May 3

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated at 3:16 a.m. The location was redacted by police.

• A larceny was investigated at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 3:51 p.m. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

Saturday, May 4

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Apple Tree Lane at 1:41 p.m. A neighbor was upset that children were smoking in the front yard.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 10:38 p.m. The location was redacted by police.

Sunday, May 5

• A 27 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 5:35 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at 10:59 a.m. The location was redacted by police.

Monday, May 6

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about two panhandlers approaching vehicles exiting the Big Y parking lot was investigated at 6:07 p.m. Police could not locate the panhandlers.

Tuesday, May 7

• A 56 year-old man of Village Pond Road was arrested at 10:54 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a motor vehicle stop on the 400 block of State Street.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 8:56 a.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A burglary was investigated at 3088 Boston Post Road at 9:28 a.m. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 233 Church Street at 11:27 a.m. All details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A drug overdose was reported at 6:04 p.m. The location and all details were redacted by police.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated at 83 North Street at 7:53 p.m.

• Threatening was investigated on Hungry Hill Road at 9:22 p.m.

Wednesday, May 8

No arrests were made.

• A hawk (or osprey) was struck and killed near 350 Church Street at 11:08 a.m.

• A tenant/landlord dispute was investigated on the 2600 block of Long Hill Road at 12:03 p.m.

• Threatening was investigated on the 2200 block of Long Hill Road at 12:29 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Half Mile Road at 6:47 p.m.
