Police Incident Report for Nov. 15 to Dec. 26


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Nov. 15

No arrests were made.

• A complaint was investigated on the 700 block of West Lake Avenue at 8:37 a.m. An elderly man would not allow a trash truck driver to leave for over an hour.

• A motor vehicle crash was investigated on Barnshed Lane at Northwood Drive at 5:30 p.m. A vehicle slid into a mailbox.

• A reported of suspicious activity was investigated at 259 Mulberry Point Road at 8:28 p.m. A caller reported seeing footprints in the snow in the rear yard after one of the family members heard noises outside 45 minutes prior.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 100 block of Tupelo Lane at 8:48 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 16

No arrests were made.

• Breach of peace was investigated on Hubbard Road at 8 a.m.

• Sudden death/bodies found was reported on the 400 block of Nortontown Road at 12:19 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 17

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 10:59 a.m. A caller reported that her keys, wallet, and cell phone were taken from her carriage while her back was turned. There was no description of a possible suspect. It was later reported that the items in question were misplaced and then located by Walmart employees. No items were missing.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at on Crooked Hill Road at 3:45 p.m. Someone damaged the Braemoor Preserve property with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Sunday, Nov. 18

No arrests were made.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at 5 Water Street at 12:48 a.m. A tall man was screaming and breaking glass in the bar. He had dark hair and beard and wore a blue hoodie.

• A suspicious man was posted from a store at 71 Whitfield Street at 1 p.m.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated below the 100 block of Whitfield Street at 4:49 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 19

No arrests were made.

• A motor vehicle crash in which a vehicle hit a deer was reported in front of 2100 Long Hill Road at 5:16 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 20

• A 27 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 5 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree.

• A 23 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 7 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to pay or plead a citation.

• The theft of a custom mailbox was investigated at 873 West Lake Avenue at 12:34 p.m. The mailbox was later found in a cover-it shed. It was not stolen.

• A motor vehicle crash in which a driver fled the scene was investigated on the 100 block of Barker Hill Drive at 3:25 p.m. The offending driver of a dark colored car struck the rear end of the complainant’s vehicle then left the scene. The complainant returned home to report the incident.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 300 block of Woodland Road at 4:18 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 1116 Boston Post Road at 4:22 p.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police for this open investigation.

Wednesday, Nov. 21

• A 55 year-old homeless man of New Haven was arrested at 4:46 p.m. on a warrant charging him with breach of peace in the second degree, intimidation due to bias in the second degree, and threatening in the second degree. He was arrested following an investigation into an incident at Centro’s Pizza on Whitfield Street as reported earlier in the Guilford Courier.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Balaurel Drive at 8:43 a.m.

• A complaint about two dogs roaming was investigated on North Street at 9:02 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 127 White Birch Drive at 2:10 p.m.

• An unwanted person complaint was investigated at The Guilford House residence facility, 109 West Lake Avenue, at 9:34 p.m. A long-term resident’s male family member who is currently homeless attempted to sleep in the resident’s room. When asked to leave, this man caused a disturbance and then exited to his car in the back parking lot of the facility.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 2600 block of Durham Road at 10:56 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 22

• A 20 year-old man of Granite Road was arrested at 3:05 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of alcohol by a person under the legal age to possess alcohol, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop in front of 2351 Durham Road.

• An attempted burglary (via the back door) was investigated at 350 Squaw Lane at 5:04 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 94 Highwoods Drive at 4:47 p.m. A mailbox was ripped out the ground and partially crushed.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Broad Hill Circle at 9:48 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 23

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on Lois Lane at 6:14 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 24

• A 33 year-old woman of Ironwood Road at arrested at 8:21 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree and disorderly conduct.

• A 53 year-old Norwalk man was arrested at 9:18 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• The theft of a motor vehicle was investigated at 301 Boston Post Road at 7:20 a.m.

• A larceny from a motor vehicle was investigated at 11 Northview Drive at 10:45 a.m. and at 200 Boston Terrace at 11:34 a.m. Unlocked vehicles were entered.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated at 147 Pine Grove Road at 12:19 p.m.

• A noise complaint was investigated on the 300 block of South Union Street at 10:15 p.m. Police received two calls about a loud party at the Knights of Columbus Hall reported as loud music with lots of bass. The music was turned down to a reasonable level.

Sunday, Nov. 25

No arrests were made.

• Risk of injury was investigated at 5 Davis Drive at 7:45 p.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

Monday, Nov. 26

No arrests were made.

• A larceny from a motor vehicle was investigated at 284 Mirror Lane at 7:37 a.m.

• A landlord/tenant dispute at 147 Maupas North Road at 9:51 a.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 27

• A 29 year-old man of Wilburs Lane was arrested at 7:17 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to pay or plead a citation.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 55 Whitfield Street at 3:56 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 91 Stone Boat Road at 6:30 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated at the Guilford Free Library, 67 Park Street, at 7:42 p.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A complaint about credit card fraud was investigated at 2001 Durham Road at 10:53 a.m.

• A complaint about credit card fraud was investigated at 59 Sam Hill Road 12:41 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 500 block of Durham Road at 6:48 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 29

• A 29 year-old Branford man was arrested at 9:40 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest following a motor vehicle stop on Water Street.

• A larceny was investigated at 490 Three Corners Road at 7:28 a.m.

Friday, Nov. 30

No arrests were made.

• A fight was investigated at 233 Church Street at 10:48 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated at 74 Horseshoe Road at 10:56 a.m.

• Harassment was investigated at 10 Lois Lane at 7:27 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 1

• A 57 year-old man of Route 80 was arrested at 7:50 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a motor vehicle stop on the 600 block of New England Road.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated at 18 Long Hill Farms at 2:51 p.m. A neighbor drilled screws through the complainant’s wall.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at 2785 Boston Post Road at 6:58 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 2

No arrests were made.

• A reported of a disoriented person walking in the middle of the road was investigated on the 200 block of Boston Post Road at 8:24 a.m. The person was described as standing about 5 feet tall and wearing a black windbreaker with a hood. It was unknown if the person was male or female. Police could not locate the subject.

• A larceny was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 2:26 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Little Meadow Road near Stepstone Hill Road at 10 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 3

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about a suspicious vehicle was investigated near 33 Whitfield Street at 12:30 a.m. Individuals in the vehicle were playing Pokemon Go. No issues were reported.

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 57 Elm Street at 11:43 a.m. About $20 in change was stolen from an unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours.

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 35 Christmas Hill Road at 2:20 p.m. The vehicle was entered during the overnight hours.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 127 White Birch Drive at 8:19 p.m. A vehicle was driven on the lawn leaving deep ruts.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

• A 64 year-old man of Chestnut Court was arrested at 5:38 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree and larceny in the sixth degree.

• Harassment was investigated on the 1500 block of Boston Post Road at 12:05 p.m.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on North Fair Street at 3:30 p.m.

• Risk of injury to a minor was investigated on Andy Lane at 4:15 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 830 Boston Post Road at 5:38 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 69 Horseshoe Road at 8:21 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

• A 74 year-old man of Ironwood Road was arrested at 5:54 p.m. at 830 Boston Post Road and charged with extradition arrest without a warrant.

• A larceny was investigated at 17 Water Street at 4:44 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 6

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Summer Street at 8:58 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 57 Whitfield Street at 2:49 p.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 67 East Creek Circle at 3:41 p.m. A fake cashier’s check was received in the mail.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 200 block of White Birch Drive at 3:54 p.m. The issue was over leaves being blown into the street.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Sachems Head Road at 10:13 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 7

No arrests were made.

• A burglary was investigated at 2730 Boston Post Road at 8:52 a.m. Equipment and materials were taken from a job site during the overnight hours.

• A complaint about harassing emails was investigated on the 200 block of Maupas North Road at 9:44 a.m.

Saturday, Dec. 8

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 12:27 p.m.

• A child was reported missing on the 500 block of Tanner Marsh Road at 3:29 p.m. Six police officers responded. The child was found.

Sunday, Dec. 9

• Criminal trespass was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 3:23 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 10

• A 59 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 12:32 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree, forgery in the second degree, two counts of larceny in the fifth degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the fourth degree, and three counts of identity theft in the second degree.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated at Guilford Court at 5:10 p.m.

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 329 Wilburs Lane at 6:20 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 1900 block of Little Meadow Road at 7:35 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 11

• A 20 year-old West Hartford man was arrested at 10:50 a.m. and charged with larceny in the first degree.

• A larceny was investigated at 77 Whitfield Street at 3:01 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 12

No arrests were made.

• A 54 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:32 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 600 block of Village Walk 11:33 a.m.

Thursday, Dec. 13

• A 57 year-old Madison man was arrested at 9:30 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to obey an overhead traffic signal.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 88 Barker Hill Drive at 12:04 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 2600 block of Durham Road at 2:53 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 830 Boston Post Road at 3:40 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 14

• A 26 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and assault in the third degree following an incident at 430 Boston Post Road.

• An illegal weapons discharge complaint was investigated at 12:42 p.m. A woman called to report hearing two gunshots coming from the tennis court area of the Sunrise residential community on Davis Drive. Police could not identify where the two loud explosive sounds originated, but it was believed the sounds came from the Amtrak railroad track area to the southwest of Sunrise. In the same incident, two other Sunrise residents reported hearing three loud explosive sounds coming from the railroad track area.

Saturday, Dec. 15

• A 39 year-old man of Whitfield Street was arrested at 1:40 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• A 59 year-old North Branford man was arrested at 7:23 p.m. and charged with drinking while operating a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, failure to keep a narcotic in its original container, making an improper turn, and having improper stop or turn signals.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 524 Durham Road at 3:50 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 16

• A 76 year-old man of Saw Pit Road was arrested at 1:01 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to pay or plead a citation.

Monday, Dec. 17

• A 42 year-old woman of Water Street was arrested at 2:31 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension. Occupation: waitress.

• A 29 year-old Branford man was arrested at 9 a.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree, receipt of goods or services from illegal use of a credit card, conspiracy to receive goods or services from illegal use of a credit card, and two counts of conspiracy to commit theft of under $500 from a revoked credit card.

• Harassment was reported on the 200 block of Peddlers Road at 1:57 p.m.

• A complaint about Internet fraud was investigated at 80 Seaview Terrace at 3:15 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 18

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 714 County Road at 6:29 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 240 Falcon Road at 8:20 a.m.

• A burglary was investigated at 551 Mulberry Point Road at 10 a.m.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 50 Christmas Hill Road at 12:31 p.m. Change was taken from an unlocked motor vehicle.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 41 Cornwall Lane at 9:28 a.m.

• A complaint about erratic operation of a motor vehicle was investigated on the 1100 block of Boston Post Road at 6:10 p.m. The vehicle crossed the center line multiple times while traveling on Boston Post Road and then pulled behind CVS. Three officers responded.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at Guilford Commons, 1919 Boston Post Road, at 9:12 p.m. A caller believed that her car was keyed by the party who had parked next to her. The complainant called from her home.

Saturday, Dec. 22

• A 31 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 8:26 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated at Guilford Commons, 1919 Boston Post Road, at 9:17 a.m. A credit card that belonged to a resident of Georgia was used illegally.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated on Granite Road at 3:15 p.m.
