Police Incident Report for Aug. 29 to Sept. 18


The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, Aug. 29 to Sunday, Sept. 2

No arrests were made.

Monday, Sept. 3

No arrests were made.

• A 17 year-old Old Saybrook man was issued a citation at 4:32 p.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. He was operating a 2009 Hyundai Accent GLS when he struck an embankment and rolled over. The operator sustained possible injuries.

Tuesday, Sept. 4

No arrests were made.

Friday, Sept. 7

No arrests were made.

• A 72 year-old Higganum woman was issued a citation at 9:46 p.m. for unsafe backing. She was operating a 2003 Lincoln Town Car Signature model in the parking lot of the Copper Beach Inn, 46 Main Street in Ivoryton, when she stuck a parked and unoccupied 2014 Mazda CX-9 Touring model. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No one was injured in the crash

Saturday, Sept. 8 to Monday, Sept. 10

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, Sept. 11

• A 35 year-old man of Comstock Avenue in Ivoryton was arrested at 7:59 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct following a report of an active domestic dispute. The accused pushed the 33 year-old complainant following a verbal argument at their residence. The accused left the scene and was located a short time later at a location on Sylvan Terrace in Deep River and taken into custody.

• A 17 year-old girl of Kelsey Hill Road was issued a verbal warning failure to grant right of way at an intersection at 3:45 p.m. She was operating a 2008 Subaru Forester 2.5x Premiere southbound on Main Street near #193. She was making a left turn from 193 and did not see a 2000 Mazda Miata that had the right of way on Main Street, resulting in a collision. The operator of the Mazda, who was not identified in the police press report, was transported to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Clinic in Westbrook for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash. Both vehicles were towed.

Wednesday, Aug. 29 to Wednesday, Sept. 5

Thursday, Sept. 6

No arrests were made.

• A 63 year-old man of Castle View Drive was issued a citation at 7:01 p.m. for failure to grant right of way. He was operating a 2007 Subaru Legacy Outback 2.5i southbound on Route 154 when he failed to yield right of way to a 2012 Toyota Camry operated by a 73 year-old Haddam man. No one was injured in the crash.

Friday, Sept. 7 to Tuesday, Sept. 11

Wednesday, Sept. 12

No arrests were made.

• A 54 year-old Essex man was issued a citation at 11:56 a.m. for traveling too fast for conditions. He was operating a 2008 Infinity Journey AWD northbound on Route 9 when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a guardrail on the right side of the roadway. His 63 year-old spouse was onboard. The operator stated that neither he nor his wife were injured in the crash

Thursday, Sept. 13 to Saturday, Sept. 15

No arrests were made.

Sunday, Sept. 16

No arrests were made.

• A 31 year-old Newington man was issued a citation at 3:25 a.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. He was operating a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan when he drifted off the roadway and struck a wire-rope guardrail. No one was injured in the crash.

Monday, Sept. 17

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, Sept. 18

No arrests were made.

• A 63 year-old East Haddam woman was issued a citation at 8:03 a.m. for failure to obey a traffic control signal. She was operating a 2005 Chrysler Country LX southbound on Route 154 when she ran a red light and struck a 2005 Ford Freestyle operated by a 59 year-old man of Dock Road in Chester. Both the operator of the Ford and his nine-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash and were transported to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical clinic in Westbrook for evaluation and treatment. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
