Police Incident Report for Aug. 22 to 28


The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Clinton

Wednesday, Aug. 22

• A 34 year-old man of New York, New York was arrested at 6 p.m. and charged with larceny in the fifth degree.

• An 18 year-old Hamden man was arrested at 6 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 35 year-old Killingworth man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:02 p.m. for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to carry proof of insurance, and failure to obey a stop sign.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 5:32 p.m. A man driving a gray Nissan Altima with New York plate SWG8278 ran from the Calvin Klein store with stolen merchandise that he dumped into his trunk before racing off.

Thursday, Aug. 23

• A 55 year-old man of East Main Street was arrested at 3:03 p.m. and charged with two counts of each of the following charges: making a false statement, interfering with an emergency call, assault in the third degree, sexual assault in the fourth degree, and unlawful restraint in the first degree.

• A complaint about dirt bikers in the woods on trespassing on private property was investigated on Old Nod Road at 6:07 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 24

• A 23 year-old man of Nod Road was arrested at 1:02 p.m. and charged with violation of conditions of discharge.

• A complaint about custodial interference was investigated on Bluff Avenue at 10:12 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated a 91 East Main Street at 1:46 p.m. Tools worth several hundred dollars were stolen while the complainant was at work.

• A larceny was investigated at 91 East Main Street at 7:35 p.m. A complainant reported that some money was taken from her at work at The Shoreline of Clinton.

Saturday, Aug. 25

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 1:42 p.m. Adidas was shoplifted by a woman in a burgundy top and carrying a large, orange Nike bag.

• A larceny was investigated at 69 Waterside Lane at 10:23 p.m. A bike was stolen.

Sunday, Aug. 26

• A 20 year-old man of Lincoln Road was arrested at 12:20 a.m. and charged with possession with intent to sell, sale of a controlled substance, use and possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, possession of alcohol by a minor on a public street or highway, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A larceny was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 3:39 p.m. A complainant reported that her Nike bag was stolen from the Polo store after she set it on the ground. A man was identified as the thief and was later located on the lower level of the outlet store complex. He admitted to taking the bag and surrendered it. The man was counseled on his actions, for which he apologized. He was then trespassed (removed) from the property without further incident.

Monday, Aug. 27

• A 38 year-old man of Killingworth Turnpike was arrested at 10:20 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A larceny was investigated at 215 East Main Street at 9:15 a.m. A man (age 31 of East Main Street) reportedly stole a sandwich from Stop & Shop and took the sandwich inside the bathroom. After he was confronted, he said he put the sandwich back on the shelf, which the store’s loss prevention officer could not confirm. The man is known to store security as a regular visitor who pays for some of his goods and is believed to conceal additional food and leave without paying for it. Corporate management did not wish to prosecute, but asked that he be removed from the store.

Tuesday, Aug. 28

• A 51 year-old man of Beach Park Road was arrested at 10:05 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

Westbrook

Wednesday, Aug. 22

• A 25 year-old woman of Chicopee, Massachusetts was arrested at 2:39 a.m. and charged with possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. She was processed on a $2,500 surety bond.

• A 34 year-old Deep River man was arrested at 4:41 p.m. on a warrant charging him with violation of probation. He was processed on a $5,000 surety bond.

• A 55 year-old woman of East Pond Meadow Road was operating a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee on a private property drive located off East Pond Meadow Road and struck a tree. She was transported to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash. The vehicle was totaled. No enforcement action was taken in this case since the crash occurred on private property.

Thursday, Aug. 23

• A 19 year-old Middletown man was arrested at 9:42 p.m. and charged with reckless driving. He was processed on a $1,000 surety bond.

Friday, Aug. 24

• A 57 year-old Middletown man was arrested at 8:53 a.m. and on a warrant charging him with larceny in the third degree. He was processed on a $10,000 surety bond.

• A 21 year-old Moodus man was arrested at 4:52 p.m. and charged with violation of a protective order.

Saturday, Aug. 25

No arrests were made.

Sunday, Aug. 26

• A 51 year-old Rockfall woman was arrested at 5:59 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

• A 44 year-old Middlefield man was arrested at 6:10 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest. He was processed on a $10,000 surety bond.

• A 43 year-old Rocky Hill woman was arrested at 8:23 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

Monday, Aug. 27

• A 41 year-old Oakdale man was arrested at 11 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree, breach of peace in the second degree, and possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis. He was processed on a $5,000 surety bond.

Tuesday, Aug. 28

• A 35 year-old West Haven was arrested at 1:24 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree, assault in the third degree, and operating a motor vehicle to harass or intimidate.

Old Saybrook

Wednesday, Aug. 22

• A 30 year-old Clinton man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:04 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to grant right of way at an intersection on Boston Post Road in front of Old Saybrook High School.

Friday, Aug. 24

• A 56 year-old man of Connolly Drive was arrested at 1:06 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and traveling unreasonably fast following a motor vehicle stop on Middlesex Turnpike in front of the Auto Mall.

• A 56 year-old man of Schoolhouse Road was arrested at 6:17 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree, threatening in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and violation of a protective order. He was processed on a $10,000 surety bond.

• A 38 year-old New Haven woman of issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:22 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and traveling unreasonably fast following a motor vehicle stop on Main Street.

Saturday, Aug. 25

• A 32 year-old Stratford man was arrested at 1:42 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and traveling unreasonably fast.

• A 48 year-old Deep River man was arrested at 9:37 a.m. and charged with failure to pay or plead a citation and four counts of failure to appear in the second degree on warrants held by police departments in Deep River, South Windsor, Waterford, and East Lyme.

• A 72 year-old man of Meadow Lane was arrested at 12:02 p.m. on a warrant charging him with violation of probation

Sunday, Aug. 26

• A 23 year-old West Haven man was arrested at 2:56 a.m. and charged with possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, and failure to have proper tail lamps.

• A 36 year-old Guilford man was arrested at 7:58 p.m. and charged with interfering with an officer, burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, possession of narcotics, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He was processed on a $100,000 surety bond.

• A 29 year-old Plainville man was arrested at 9:25 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.

Monday, Aug. 27

No arrests were made.

• A 38 year-old Hartford man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:03 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

• A 52 year-old woman of Middletown Avenue was issued a citation at 2:54 p.m. for failure to vaccinate a dog against rabies.
