Police Incident Report for Aug. 8 to 21


The North Haven Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Wednesday, Aug. 8

• A 30 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 11 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree, violation of a protective order, and evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident).

Thursday, Aug. 9

• A 27 year-old man of Pool Road was arrested at 10:50 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and stealing a firearm.

• A 27 year-old Hartford woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:36 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Friday, Aug. 10

No arrests were made.

• A 47 year-old woman of Hartford Turnpike was issued a misdemeanor summons for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to register a commercial vehicle.

Saturday, Aug. 11

No arrests were made.

Sunday, Aug. 12

No arrests were made.

• A 28 year-old Meriden man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 3:05 a.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident) and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

Monday, Aug. 13

• A 36 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 10:54 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, disorderly conduct, and threatening in the second degree.

• An 18 year-old man of Vineyard Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 4:46 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident in which there was a fatality).

Tuesday, Aug. 14

• A 27 year-old Norwalk man was arrested at 11:33 a.m. and charged with illegal possession of narcotics, possession of cannabis, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

• A 34 year-old man of Monroe Street was arrested at 6 a.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree.

Thursday, Aug. 16

No arrested were made.

Friday, Aug. 17

• A 34 year-old man of Thorpe Street was arrested at 2 a.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest. In the same incident a 34 year-old woman of the same residence was arrested and charged with interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

• A 32 year-old Wallingford man was arrested at 2 a.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

• A 53 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 8:45 p.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree.

• A 50 year-old man of Marlborough Road was arrested at 10:17 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree.

Saturday, Aug. 18

No arrests were made.

• A 35 year-old Bridgeport man was issued a citation at 9:07 p.m. for creating a public disturbance.

Sunday, Aug. 19

• An 18 year-old man of Quinnipiac Avenue was arrested at 12:08 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

Monday, Aug. 20

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

No arrests were made.

• A 31 year-old Hamden man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:34 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to yield right of way to a vehicle when not crossing within a crosswalk.

From Aug. 8 to 21, North Haven police issued nine citations to motorists for operating a motor vehicle while using a hand-held cell phone, five citations to motorists for failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat, four citations for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart, four citations for failure to obey state traffic commission road markings or signs, three citations for traveling unreasonably fast, three citations for making an improper turn, and two citations for failure to register a commercial vehicle. One citation was issued for each of the following: failure to grant right of way, failure to drive on the right, unsafe backing, failure to obey control signals, failure to carry registration/driver’s license, and violation of exhaust pipe requirements.
