Police Incident Report for Aug. 8 to 14


The Sound publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in Branford and North Branford. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Branford

Wednesday, Aug. 8

No arrests were made.

Thursday, Aug. 9

No arrests were made.

• A 24 year-old Shelton man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 7:58 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and improper use of marker plates.

• A 61 year-old Madison man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:15 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failure to use a seat belt in the front seat.

Friday, Aug. 10

• A 29 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 4:47 p.m. and charged with harassment in the second degree and threating in the first degree.

• A 38 year-old man of Haycock Point Road was arrested at 5:30 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree.

Saturday, Aug. 11

• A 49 year-old North Haven man was arrested at 8:20 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and threatening in the second degree.

Sunday, Aug. 12

• A 28 year-old Norwalk man was arrested at 2:25 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to obey a traffic control signal.

• A 26 year-old woman of Peddlers Drive was arrested at 5:44 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree and disorderly conduct.

Monday, Aug. 13

• A 54 year-old West Haven man was arrested at 4:55 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A 42 year-old New Haven woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 3:13 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, violation of readable plate requirements, and failure to renew driver’s license.

• A 62 year-old man of Cherry Hill Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:51 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, failure to grant right of way at a private driveway, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.

Tuesday, Aug. 14

• A 36 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 6 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree and risk of injury to a minor.

• A 21 year-old man of Bryan Road was arrested at 8:15 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A 53 year-old man of Brushy Plain Road was arrested at 9:44 p.m. and charged with harassment in the second degree and violation of a protective order.

From Aug. 8 to 14, Branford police issued eight citations to motorists for traveling unreasonably fast, six citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, six citations for using hand-held cell phone while driving, five citations for failure to obey a stop sign, three citations for failure to obey a traffic control signal, two citations for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart, and two citations for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. One citation was issued for each of the following: having tinted glass without DMV approval, having defective windshield wipers, and improper use of high beams.

North Branford

Wednesday, Aug. 8

• A 37 year-old man of Old Post Road in Northford was arrested at 5:11 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 34 year-old New Haven woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:53 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension. She was operating a silver 2012 Honda Civic EX.

Thursday, Aug. 9 to Friday, Aug. 10

No arrests were made.

Saturday, Aug. 11

• A 58 year-old Bridgeport man was arrested at 6:07 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, disregarding the signal of an officer (engaging police in pursuit), operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, failure to drive right, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Sunday, Aug. 12 to Tuesday, Aug. 14

No arrests were made.

From Aug. 8 to 14 North Branford police issued three citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, two citations for traveling unreasonably fast, and one citation for speeding. Police issued $326 in fines for the week.
