Police Incident Report for Aug. 2 to 15


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Aug. 2

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud involving a moving company was investigated at 1 Shoreline Drive at 10:02 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 900 Boston Post Road at 11:07 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Chimney Corner Circle at 6:34 p.m.

• A motor vehicle crash on private property was investigated at 515 Lake Drive at 6:53 p.m.

• A motor vehicle crash in which the operator evaded the scene was investigated at 197 Village Pond Road at 9:37 p.m. An undescribed vehicle ran over mailboxes. The complainant reported the incident immediately after it occurred.

Friday, Aug. 3

No arrests were made.

Saturday, Aug. 4

No arrests were made.

• Attempted thefts from unlocked motor vehicles were investigated at 361 and 373 Weatherly Trail, and 939 Hoop Pole Road, between 6:46 and 8:54 a.m. Nothing was taken from any of the vehicles.

• Sudden death/bodies found was investigated on Trolley Road at 9:48 a.m. Six officers responded to the scene.

• A vehicle repossession was conducted by Confidential Asset Recovery for Chase Auto Services at 2 Little Road at 3:33 p.m. The owners of the vehicle were aware of the repossession.

Sunday, Aug. 5

No arrests were made.

Monday, Aug. 6

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Podunk Road at 2:18 a.m. A stop sign at Podunk Road and Clapboard Hill Road was pulled out of the ground and laid down on the side of the road. The sign did not appear to be damaged. Police placed the sign back into the original hole, but it was not secure. The Department of Public Works was notified for proper installation.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated at 125 Schoolside Lane at 10:47 a.m.

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 10 Rollwood Drive at 12:48 p.m. Two vehicles were gone through and a set of Honda keys were located inside one of the vehicles that did not belong to the complainant.

• A complaint about Internet fraud was investigated at 5463 Durham Road at 1 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at Flagship Vanlines, 1 Shoreline Drive, at 1:39 p.m.

• The theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 274 Church Street at 2:07 p.m.

• A complaint about three vehicles doing donuts in the parking lot at Bittner Park was investigated at 3:10 p.m. The vehicles left the scene before police arrived. They included a “beat-up” red Dodge pick-up and a Mazda bearing Connecticut registration plate AF32097. Police attempted to contact the owner of one of the registered vehicles at home, but had to leave a voice mail.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 6 Hunter Drive at 4:16 p.m. Several store charge cards were taken.

• A breach of peace incident involving an unruly patron was investigated South Lane Bistro at 5:11 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Ironwood Road at 8 a.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Fawn Lane at 9:58 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 62 Hoadley Creek Circle at 1:25 p.m.

• A report of entry into a vehicle was investigated at 3 Hunter Drive at 3:12 p.m. Nothing was taken.

Wednesday, Aug. 8

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1439 West Street at 6:15 a.m. A mailbox was damaged.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 113 Sam Hill Road at 8:28 a.m. A mailbox set into concrete was uprooted.

• Harassment by a former employee was investigated at American Cruise Lines, 741 Boston Post Road, at 9:22 a.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 600 block of Boston Post Road at 1:25 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 640 New England Road at 4:03 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 311 Sam Hill Road at 4:07 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 30 Preble Drive at 4:45 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Driftwood Lane at 7:26 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 9

No arrests were made.

• A vehicle repossession was conducted at 1197 West Lane Avenue at 1:25 a.m.

• A breach of peace incident involving a neighbor dispute was investigated on the 300 block of Woodland Road at 5 p.m.

• A motor vehicle crash on private property was investigated at 1675 Boston Post Road at 6:01 p.m. No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash.

• A report of a suspicious vehicle was investigated on Taliar Ridge Road at 11:54 p.m. A four-door, mid-sized car with its lights off was parked on a private road while occupied by unknown persons. Police checked the area and could not locate the vehicle.

Friday, Aug. 10

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Lanes Pond Road at 1 a.m. A gate was damaged.

• A larceny was investigated at 1675 Boston Post Road at 9:18 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Foxwood Road at 10:49 a.m. A stop sign at Foxwood Road South and Stone Hedge Lane was bent. The Department of Public Works was notified.

• A larceny was investigated at 10 Rollwood Drive at 12:16 p.m.

• A woman reported that cows were on the loose in her backyard at 434 Vineyard Point Road at 6:18 p.m. The cows were moved into a neighboring field. Police left a message with the owner of the cows to retrieve them.

• A welfare check was made on Whitfield Street at 7:14 p.m. A caller reported that a six-foot tall male wearing blue shorts and gray socks with no shoes was wandering around the area asking people for money.

• A noise complaint was reported on Indian Cove Road at 9:43 p.m. A female caller reported that a neighbor was playing loud music while she was trying to sleep. Police checked the area and could not find a problem.

Saturday, Aug. 11

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on River Street at Water Street at 3:05 a.m. A stop sign was bent and written on with a marker.

• A noise complaint was investigated on the 200 of Flag Marsh Road at 11:24 p.m. A man was yelling from behind his residence. A small gathering of individuals was outside the home. The homeowner was advised to move the party inside, which was done cooperatively.

Sunday, Aug. 12

No arrests were made.

• An anonymous caller reported that the operator of a white van was yelling at an ATM machine at 1001 Boston Post Road at 10:13 p.m. Police learned that the operator was frustrated about ATM overcharges.

Monday, Aug. 13 to Tuesday, Aug. 14

No arrests were made.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

No arrests were made.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 743 North Madison Road at 1:15 p.m. A front license plate was stolen.

• A vehicle repossession was conducted by GM Financial at 634 North Madison Road at 8 p.m.
