Essex
Wednesday, June 13
No arrests were made.
• A 46 year-old Bridgeport man was issued a citation at 7:33 a.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart. He was operating a 2017 Freightliner M2 truck when he struck the rear of a 2004 Toyota Tundra Access operated by a 52 year-old Old Lyme man.
• A 22 year-old Oakdale woman was issued a citation at 4:33 p.m. for failure to grant right of way at an intersection on Plains Road. She was operating a 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT when she collided with a 2012 Honda Accord L operated by a 78 year-old Madison man. No injuries were reported by those involved in the crash and no injuries were observed by the investigating officer.
• A 52 year-old North Branford man was issued a citation at 4:48 p.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart. He was operating a 2003 GMC Sierra K2500 HD eastbound on Main Street near Falls River Drive when he struck the rear of a 2007 Lexus GS operated by a 37 year-old man of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Lexus was, in turn, pushed into the rear of a 2015 Honda Accord operated by a 63 year-old woman of Falls River Drive in Ivoryton. No injuries were reported by those involved in the crash and the investigating trooper observed no injuries.

• A 41 year-old Ivoryton man was issued a verbal warning at 6:47 p.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. He was operating a 1998 Ford Ranger westbound on West Elm Street when he drifted across the eastbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a tree.

• A 40 year-old woman of West Main Street in Chester was issued a citation at 5:38 p.m. for passing on the right following a two-vehicle crash. She was operating a 2001 Nissan Maxima southbound of Union Street when she attempted to make a right turn into a driveway and struck a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado K2500hd operated by a 27 year-old man of Kings Highway in Chester. No injuries were reported by those involved in the crash or observed by the investigating trooper.

• A 34 year-old Old Lyme woman was issued a citation at 10:52 p.m. for failure to drive right following a one-vehicle crash on Main Street. She was operating a 2008 Lexus RX 350 eastbound on Main Street when she collided with a utility pole located along the south shoulder of the roadway. She as transported to an unspecified medical facility for treatment of minor injuries she sustained in the crash. The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage.

• A 60 year-old man of Mohawk Road was issued a citation at 5:27 p.m. for failure to drive right after he lost control of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport he was operating at struck a metal beam guard rail on the right side of the roadway. No injuries were reported by the driver or observed by the investing trooper.
• A 44 year-old Wolcott man was issued a citation at 7:32 p.m. for using a hand-held mobile device while driving following a one-vehicle crash on Hoop Pole Road. He was operating a 2011 GMC Terrain STE northbound on Hoop Pole Road when he was texting, ran off the roadway, and struck CL&P utility pole number 1097. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and had to be towed from the scene. The operator sustained a minor hand injury but declined to be examined by responding EMS personnel. The pole sustained only moderate damage and was still standing.
