Police Incident Report for May 19 to 24


The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Clinton

Saturday, May 19

• A 46 year-old woman of West Main Street and a 45 year-old man of Elm Street were arrested at 12:30 a.m. Each party was charged with disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act.

• An animal bite was reported at 102 Old Nod Road at 1:33 p.m. A neighbor’s dog bit a woman on the left foot.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Willow Lane at 4:39 p.m.

Sunday, May 20

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on Nod Road at 11:27 a.m. A woman reported that she was being harassed through Facebook by her soon-to-be ex-husband.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 11:45 a.m. A man attempted to shoplift but he was stopped at the door and the product was retrieved by employees. The suspect was described as a white male with a black and white beard. He was wearing a tan coat and jeans and was about 5’-10” tall. He left the scene in a Ford F250 with a ladder rack and bearing Connecticut license plate number 8150DD. Police located and stopped the vehicle on Interstate 95 for erratic operation. The driver, a 45 year-old West Haven man, fit the description of the alleged shoplifter. No other details of the investigation were reported.

Monday, May 21

• A 48 year-old man of Old Post Road was arrested at 3:47 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree, assault in the second degree, threatening in the second degree, and attempt to commit assault.

• A 26 year-old man of Cedar Island Avenue was issued a misdemeanor summons at 2:30 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart.

Tuesday, May 22

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 100 block of East Main Street at 6:32 a.m. No physical altercation occurred. A woman woke up to a man who was yelling that she kept a dirty house. She in turn threw spaghetti and sauce all over the kitchen floor “to show him dirty.” The woman agreed to go to her father’s house in Groton for the day before going to work that evening.

• A larceny was investigated at 7 Diamond Road at 8:23 p.m. The complaint believed that a package was stolen from a communal mailbox.

Wednesday, May 23

• A 28 year-old North Haven man was arrested at 6:21 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a motor vehicle stop on West Main Street.

• Threatening was investigated on Merrill Road at 10 a.m. A delivery driver reported that a customer threatened to shoot him for not giving him his salad. The accused man denied making such a threat. The owner of the business was made aware of the driver’s alleged actions in the incident.

• A larceny was investigated at 5 Silver Birch Lane at 11:14 a.m.

• A trespass complaint was investigated on River Road at 7:05 p.m. A long history of an ongoing neighbor dispute was involved in this case.

Thursday, May 24

• A 21 year-old woman of Nod Road was arrested at 10:05 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct, possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis following an investigation on Baxter Road.

• A robbery was investigated at 359 East Main Street at 3:30 p.m.

• Threatening was investigated at the Clinton town marina at 6:35 p.m.

Westbrook

Saturday, May 19

• A 45 year-old Old Lyme man was arrested at 4:46 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A one-vehicle crash was investigated on Chittenden Hill Road at 7:16 a.m. A 20 year-old woman of West Pond Meadow Road was operating a 2014 Hyundai Accent eastbound of Chittenden Hill Road when a deer ran out into the road. She swerved to avoid the deer, struck a tree located off the left shoulder, and rolled the vehicle onto its passenger side. No injuries were reported or observed at the scene, but the driver said she was going to see a doctor. No charges were filed against the driver.

Sunday, May 20

• An 18 year-old man of Mink Rock Circle was arrested at 8:59 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor, criminal mischief in the second degree, disorderly conduct, threatening in the second degree, and violation of a protective order following a domestic disturbance. When troopers arrived at the residence they heard yelling and banging inside the residence. The accused was observed holding what appeared to be a knife and he was heard stating that he was going to stab someone. The arresting trooper spoke to the accused and he was taken into custody without further incident. The alleged victims in the incident were a 36 year-old person and an 8 year-old child. The accused was processed on a $10,000 bond.

• A 46 year-old Wolcott man was arrested at 11:41 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. He was found parked on the side of the road. He agreed to and failed a standardized field sobriety test.

Monday, May 21 to Wednesday, May 23

No arrests were made.

Thursday, May 24

• A 32 year-old Old Saybrook man was arrested at 8:56 a.m. and charged with four counts of violation of probation.

Saturday, May 19

• A 17 year-old was arrested at 3:38 a.m. and charged with illegally obtaining prescription drugs, possession of a controlled substance, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of tobacco by a minor, and possession of an electronic nicotine device following an investigation on Atlantic Drive at Club House Lane.

• A 32 year-old East Hartford woman was arrested at 1:56 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of narcotics, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cannabis.

Sunday, May 20

• A 27 year-old woman of Hollywood, California was arrested at 1:42 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree under the Domestic Violence Act.

• A 45 year-old Norwich man was arrested at 1:01 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road.

• A 39 year-old Durham, North Carolina woman was arrested at 9:54 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor, breach of peace in the second degree, and disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act.

Monday, May 21

No arrests were made.

• A 29 year-old Guilford woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 3:55 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failure to display brake lights following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at the railroad bridge.

Tuesday, May 22 to Wednesday, May 23

No arrests were made.

Thursday, May 24

• A 37 year-old Bloomfield man was arrested at 1:21 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree, and larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 36 year-old Westbrook man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:25 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

• A 65 year-old man of Watch Hill Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:31 p.m. for misuse of marker plate, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop on Old Boston Post Road at Pennywise Lane.

• A 59 year-old man of Beach Road West was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1:15 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to have brake lamps.

• A 34 year-old Essex man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:06 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Stage Road.
