Police Incident Report for May 16 to 22


The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, May 16

No arrests were made.

• A 29 year-old Westbrook man was issued a citation at 4:24 p.m. for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. He was operating a 1998 Dodge Stratus westbound on Westbrook Road when he rear-ended a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport operated by an 18 year-old Old Lyme woman who was stopped in preparation to make a left turn into the business located at 251 Westbrook Road. No injuries were reported or observed.

Thursday, May 17 to Saturday, May 19

No arrests were made.

Sunday, May 20

No arrests were made.

• A 62 year-old man of Book Hill Road was issued a citation at 11:54 a.m. for failure to grant right of way at an intersection. He was operating a 2013 Ford Taurus northbound on Saybrook Road when he collided with a 2007 Cadillac DTS operated by a 63 year-old New Britain man. No injuries were reported or observed.

Monday, May 21

No arrests were made.

• An 82 year-old woman of Cedar Street in Centerbrook was issued a citation at 9:19 a.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart. She was operating a 2002 Honda Civic on Route 9 when she struck the rear of a 2004 Ford F650 Super Duty truck operated by a 54 year-old Manchester man who was stopped at a highway construction site. No injuries were reported or observed.
