Police Incident Report for Jan. 17 to 30


The East Haven Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Wednesday, Jan. 17

• A 44 year-old man of Union Avenue was arrested at 1:25 a.m. and charged with larceny in the fifth degree, criminal trover in the second degree, and using a motor vehicle without permission following a motor vehicle stop on Ella Grasso Boulevard near Plymouth Street.

• A 35 year-old man of Morton Court was arrested at 11:19 a.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree and violation of a protective order.

• Police investigated a bank robbery that occurred at the Webster Bank, 260 Main Street, at 12:37 p.m. The male suspect passed a note to the teller demanding cash from the drawer. He was described as white, tall, in his 20s or 30s, slim- to medium build, and wearing a black jacket, Yankees baseball cap, fluorescent gloves, black face mask, khaki pants, and work boots. He fled westbound on Dodge Avenue toward New Haven in a newer model, white GMC 1500 single cab pick-up truck with tinted side and rear windows as well as a strip of tint at the top of the front windshield. The vehicle had a trailer hitch and a rear license plate cover. Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call 203-468-3820. All calls will be kept confidential.

Thursday, Jan. 18

• A 30 year-old man of Henry Street was arrested at 1:31 a.m. and charged with interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

• A 48 year-old homeless woman was arrested at 10:50 a.m. and charged with interfering with an officer/resisting arrest and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of a cannabis-type substance.

• A 28 year-old Madison man was issued a citation for possession of less than one-half ounce of a cannabis-type substance.

Friday, Jan. 19

• A 31 year-old man of Joyce Road was arrested at 10:37 a.m. and charged with interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, harassment in the second degree, and violation of a protective order. He was processed on a $25,000 surety bond.

• A 46 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 4:34 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

Saturday, Jan. 20

• A 36 year-old woman of Silver Sands Road was arrested at 4:52 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

Sunday, Jan. 21

• A 25 year-old man of Miami Street was arrested at 12:37 p.m. and charged with interfering with an officer/resisting arrest and breach of peace in the second degree.

Monday, Jan. 22

• A 37 year-old man of Leeds, Massachusetts was arrested at 12:42 p.m. and charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree and conspiracy to commit robbery in the third degree. He was processed on a $30,000 surety bond.

Tuesday, Jan. 23

• A 45 year-old man of Rose Street Extension was arrested at midnight and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 34 year-old man of Salemo Avenue was arrested at 2:51 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, disorderly conduct, interfering with an emergency call, and assault in the second degree. He was processed on a $25,000 surety bond.

• A 21 year-old woman of Crest Avenue was arrested at 7:20 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree.

• A 36 year-old man of South End Road was arrested at 7:20 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree.

Wednesday, Jan. 24 to Thursday, Jan. 25

No arrests were made.

Friday, Jan. 26

• A 24 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 9:43 a.m. and charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and failure to obey a traffic control signal. He was processed on a $350,000 surety bond.

• A 29 year-old woman of North High Street was arrested at 12:30 p.m. and charged with cruelty to animals, failure to vaccinate a dog, and failure to comply with dog ownership requirements.

• A 40 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 4:07 p.m. and charged with larceny in the second degree and robbery in the second degree. He was processed on a $300,000 surety bond.

Saturday, Jan. 27

• A 24 year-old man of Boston Avenue was arrested at 12:01 a.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree, harassment in the first degree, and threatening in the second degree. He was processed on a $20,000 surety bond.

Sunday, Jan. 28

• A 41 year-old man of Larchmont, New York was arrested at 4:25 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 43 year-old of unknown address was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:30 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of marker plate, and simple trespass.

Monday, Jan. 29

• A 27 year-old woman of Russo Avenue was arrested at 1:40 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway following a motor vehicle stop in front of 370 Hemingway Avenue.

Tuesday, Jan. 30

• A 22 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 11 a.m. and charged with reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and failure to obey traffic control signals. He was processed on a $5,000 bond.

• A 19 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 8:30 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 34 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 8:38 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of marker plate, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.
