He was processed and held in lieu of a $10,000 surety bond and arraigned the following day in Meriden Superior Court. A Giles Avenue resident reported witnessing a theft from her mailbox. The victim was looking out her front window in anticipation of a delivery. She observed a UPS employee approach her mailbox holding a package. He placed the package in the mailbox, but removed another package and opened it. The complainant observed the UPS employee take a video game from the box and conceal it under his shirt. When she approached the man, he denied the theft occurred. North Haven officers responded and took the accused into custody and the video game was returned to the complainant. The investigation revealed this was not the delivery man’s first theft of the day. Several hours earlier the accused made a delivery to a Republic Drive business. The recipient of that package reported that a $150 Bose speaker was stolen from his desk. Investigators located the speaker in the glove compartment of the UPS truck.
