Police Incident Report for Nov. 22 to 28


The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, Nov. 22

No arrests were made.

• A 44 year-old man of Roslindale, Massachusetts was issued a citation at 3:22 p.m. for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. He was operating a 2017 Subaru Outback when he struck the rear of a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado C1500 operated by a 55 year-old Deep River man. The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 153 and Bokum Road. No injuries were reported or observed.

Thursday, Nov. 23

No arrests were made.

Friday, Nov. 24

No arrests were made.

• A 64 year-old man of Katonah, New York was issued a citation a 10:32 p.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. He was operating a 2014 Ford F-1 eastbound on Main Street in Essex Village when he attempted to negotiate a turn onto Meigs Lane. The front right of the Ford struck the front left of a parked and unoccupied 2015 Kia Forte LX. Both vehicles were towed. No injuries were reported or observed.

Saturday, Nov. 25 to Tuesday, Nov. 28

No arrests were made.

Deep River

Wednesday, Nov. 22

No arrests were made.

• An 88 year-old man of Bushy Hill Road was issued a citation at 8:59 a.m. for failure to drive right. He dozed off while operating a 1997 Ford F250 pick-up truck near 151 Bushy Hill Road and struck Eversource pole #273. The force of the collision snapped the pole. The operator, who was the sole occupant of the truck, was transported to Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Clinic in Westbrook for evaluation. He was returning home from Rite-Aid at the time of the crash.

• A 73 year-old woman of Shailer Pond Road was issued a citation at 2:38 p.m. for traveling too fast for conditions. She lost control of the 2015 Subaru Outback she was operating on a wet-leaf-covered road and struck a tree near 55 Cedar Swamp Road. No injuries were reported or observed.

Thursday, Nov. 23

No arrests were made.

Friday, Nov. 24

• A 63 year-old East Haddam man was arrested at 4:05 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive upon the right following a motor vehicle stop on Route 154.

Saturday, Nov. 25 to Tuesday, Nov. 28

No arrests were made.

Chester

Wednesday, Nov. 22

No arrests were made.

• A 42 year-old Higganum woman was issued a citation at 10:28 a.m. for traveling too fast for conditions. She lost control of the 2014 Ram Truck she was operating on the wet roadway and struck a wire-rope guardrail. No injuries were reported or observed.

Thursday, Nov. 23

• A 22 year-old woman of Straits Road was issued a citation at 1:06 a.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. She was operating a 2006 GMA Envoy northbound on Route 9 near exit 7 when she lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wire-rope guardrail.

Friday, Nov. 24

No arrests were made.

Saturday, Nov. 25

No arrested were made.

• A 25 year-old man of Wig Hill Road was issued a citation at 1:10 a.m. for failure to drive right. He lost control of the 2010 Ford Mustang he was operating westbound on Wig Hill Road five-tenths of a mile east south of South Wig Hill Road and struck SNET pole #506 located across from 6 Wig Hill Road. No injuries were reported or observed.

Sunday, Nov. 26 to Tuesday, Nov. 28

No arrests were made.
