Police Incident Report for Oct. 26 to Nov. 8


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Oct. 26

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 1900 block of Boston Post Road at 8:14 a.m.

• A complaint about harassment by an ex-employee was investigated at 1350 Boston Post Road at 11:51 a.m.

• A complaint about harassment via text messages from a landlord was investigated at 81 North Street at 4:27 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 27

• A 58 year-old Branford woman was arrested at 9:25 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A complaint about fraud via computer was investigated at 13 Long Hill Road at 10:47 a.m.

• A report of an unwanted person was investigated at Guilford Lakes Golf Course, 200 North Madison Road. A golfer was damaging the course and refused to leave.

Saturday, Oct. 28

• A 27 year-old New Britain man was arrested at 1:19 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct, interfering with an officer, violation of a proactive order, burglary in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree, two counts of failure to appear in the second degree, and three counts of failure to appear in the first degree on outstanding warrants following an investigation on Andy Lane.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Mohawk Trail at 2:41 p.m. The incident was part of an ongoing problem.

• A complaint about gun fire was investigated on Davis Drive at 8:15 p.m.

• Sudden death was reported at 90 Wauwinet Trail at 8:42 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 29

• A 29 year-old Fairfield woman was arrested at 3:55 p.m. and charged with violation of protective order.

• Criminal trespass was investigated at 3250 Durham Road at 2:58 p.m. While in Vermont the complainant received a call stating that a red Jeep Wrangler with youths onboard drove through the business gardens then headed into water company property. The Jeep’s tire marks led from the exit gate to Quonnipaug Hill Road.

• A complaint about fraud involving identity theft was investigated at 9 Grove Hill Road at 6:52 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 30

No arrests were made.

• Dozens of power outages and branches blocking roadways were reported across town during the early morning hours and into the day as a result of the severe storm.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 9:46 a.m. A party in Texas opened accounts using the complainant’s identity.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 2311 Boston Post Road at 3:16 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1012 West Lake Avenue at 8:53 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 31

No arrested were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 519 Nut Plains Road at 3:13 p.m. Signs were damaged in the dog park.

Wednesday, Nov. 1

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated at 280 Old Pent Road at 3:01 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 116 River Street at 5:48 p.m.

• A landlord/tenant dispute was investigated on North Street at 7:28 p.m. The complainant reported that the tenant will not be out of the house as previously agreed upon and that the locks would be changed at midnight.

Thursday, Nov. 2

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about a black Chevy Cruze that was weaving in the roadway on the 1200 block of Route 80 and almost struck mailboxes was investigated at 11:12 a.m. Police checked Route 80 to the Madison town line and could not locate the suspect vehicle.

• A complaint about a large rabbit that was injured was investigated on Flag Marsh Road at 12:34 p.m.

• A complaint about a injured beaver on the side of the road in front of 4785 Durham Road was investigated at 2:10 p.m. Department of Energy & Environmental Protection was on the scene.

• A complaint about a phone call from a subject posing as a union representative was investigated at 244 County Road at 6:37 p.m. It was believed that the caller was attempting to determine the times the house would be vacant.

• A breach of peace investigation was conducted on the 100 block of Middle Road near Cedar Hill Road at 6:50 p.m.

• A complaint about a dead deer in the roadway in front of 790 Moose Hill Road was investigated at 10:07 p.m. The carcass was moved off the roadway and a red tag was left for removal.

• Police were informed of a vehicle repossession planned for 62 Norton Avenue by Skyline Recovery Service at 11:47 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 3

No arrests were made.

• A dispute in a white Ford Ranger between a male and a female was investigated on the 2000 block of Long Hill Road at 7:53 p.m. Police checked the area and could not located the couple or the suspect vehicle.

• Suspicious activity was investigated at 8:16 p.m. A caller reported that his son was at home alone on Dover Court and heard a noise in the house.

Saturday, Nov. 4

No arrests were made.

• An untimely death was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 8:30 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 519 Nut Plains Road at 12:16 p.m. Objects at the dog park were spray painted.

• Harassment was investigated on North Street at 1:37 p.m. The complainant received numerous harassing phone calls through the night.

Sunday, Nov. 5

• A 24 year-old man of Pond View Circle was arrested at 11:15 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree and threatening in the second degree.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Pond View Circle at 10:29 a.m.

• A complaint about health insurance fraud was investigated at 2300 Boston Post Road at 1:07 p.m.

• A motor vehicle crash in which a driver evaded (fled) the scene was investigated at 720 Village Walk at 4:50 p.m. An unknown vehicle struck the complainant’s car while it was parked in the Village Walk complex.

• A complaint about a harassing phone called was investigated on 28 Drive Way at 5:35 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated at 9 Boston Street at 9:03 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 6

• A 46 year-old Danielson woman was arrested at 7:05 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and breach of peace in the second degree.

• The theft of political signs was reported on Durham Road at Route 80 at 10:52 a.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Church Street at 6:58 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 7

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 200 North Madison Road at 8:18 a.m. A golf mat was taken from Guilford Lakes Golf Course.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated at 155 Sam Hill Road at 1:26 p.m.

• A dumping violation was investigated at 55 Harbor View Road at 3:10 p.m. A caller observed a subject dumping leaves on private property.

• A larceny was investigated at 1517 Moose Hill Road at 4:38 p.m. Money was taken from an unlocked car during the overnight hours.

Wednesday, Nov. 8

No arrests were made.
