Police Incident Report for Oct. 12 to 18


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Oct. 12

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 300 Boston Post Road at 5:34 p.m.

• A welfare check was made on Mill Stone Drive at 9:38 p.m. A father caught his son stealing and purchasing narcotics. The son, a white male in his 20s and standing 6’4”, left on foot in an unknown direction. He was not wearing a shirt when he left. A track of the son was made with the assistant of the East Haven Police Department K9.

Friday, Oct. 13

• A 24 year-old Branford man was arrested at 11:30 a.m. and charged with four counts of criminal trespass in the first degree, four counts of larceny in the sixth degree, and four counts of conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

• A larceny was investigated at 60 Church Street at 1:19 p.m. Over the Labor Day weekend a lock box was taken from a Frontier Truck bearing Connecticut license plate 7063CX.

• A complaint about a dog fighting with a coyote was investigated at 42 Arrowhead Drive at 10:10 p.m. A dog cornered a coyote puppy. The coyote appeared to be ill from mange. It ran off into the woods.

Saturday, Oct. 14

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about gun shots across the river on the 700 block of Tanner Marsh Road near the Goss Property was investigated at 8:11 a.m. Duck hunters were legally on the river with duck decoys.

• Harassment was investigated on the 100 block of Briarwood Drive at 11:50 a.m.

• A complaint about fraudulent IRS calls was investigated at 105 Prospect Avenue at 12:54 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at Guilford Lakes Golf Course at 11:35 p.m. Youths threw items from the golf course into the roadway and items around the course were displaced. There was no indication that damage was done to the course itself. A red tag was left at the clubhouse by police informing of the trespass.

Sunday, Oct. 15

• A 45 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 4 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree at 1795 Boston Post Road.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 2200 block of Boston Post Road at 3:09 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 6 Broad Street at 4:50 p.m. A complainant reported that around 50 Ken MacKenzie for First Selectman political signs have been removed from various locations town-wide.

Monday, Oct. 16

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Half Mile Road at 7:58 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 32 Church Street at 2:49 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

• A 61 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 10 a.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and threatening in the second degree.

• A 30 year-old Wallingford man was arrested at 4:53 p.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree and larceny in the sixth degree.

• Harassment was investigated on Clapboard Hill Road at 8:26 a.m.

• Breach of peace was investigated on the 1300 block of Boston Post Road at 9:07 a.m.

• Breach of peace was investigated at 29 Water Street at 2:19 p.m. A male customer was belligerent. The party left in an Uber taxi prior to police arrival.

• A burglary was investigated at 29 Water Street at 3:47 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 18

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Half Mile Road at 8:59 a.m.

• A breach of peace in which a neighbor yelled and banged on the door was investigated on North Street at 2:24 p.m.

• A complaint about a roaming German shepherd was investigated on the 700 block of Boston Post Road at 3:06 p.m. Police canvassed the area and could not locate the dog.

Thursday, Oct. 19

• A 28 year-old Lisbon man was arrested at 9 a.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, larceny in the third degree, and stealing a firearm.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Highwoods Drive at 9:48 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 467 Mulberry Point Road at 1:22 p.m. An unknown vehicle drove on the lawn and caused damage.

• A roaming German shepherd dog was reported on Moose Hill Road near Peddlers Road at 1:51 p.m.

• A welfare check was made on the 300 block of State Street at 4:46 p.m. A white male with a beard and wearing a jacket, wool hat, and dark pants was reportedly consuming alcohol and staggering in the roadway.

• A walk-in complainant reported that his wallet was stolen while at the basketball courts at 11:11 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 20

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Greystone Way at 2:17 p.m.

• A vehicle repossession was conducted by Collateral Recovery Services at 31 Clapboard Hill Road at 3:17 p.m. There was no owner contact during the recovery.

• Ongoing neighbor trouble was investigated on Seaview Terrace at 5:57 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 21

No arrests were made.

• A noise complaint was reported at 111 Lovers Lane at 9:09 a.m. An anonymous complainant called police twice about music at the Guilford Fairgrounds. The fairground noise was created by a walk for Crohn’s disease and colitis. The music was turned down prior to police arrival and the DJ was advised of the noise complaint.

• A suicide was reported at an undisclosed location at 7:58 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 22

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 100 block of Whitfield Street at 10:05 p.m. An intoxicated husband was “throwing stuff in the house” police reported.

Monday, Oct. 23

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about a suspicious vehicle was investigated on High Meadow Road at 5:38 a.m. An anonymous caller reported that a person was sleeping in a vehicle on High Meadow Road near Prospect Hill Road. Police learned that the person was a resident of the High Meadow and was not sleeping. The person was checking texts prior to leaving for school. All checks on the driver’s identity and vehicle were clear and valid.

• A larceny was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 1:39 p.m.

• A motor vehicle crash was investigated on Copper Hill Drive at 7:55 p.m. The operator of the vehicle struck mailboxes while avoiding a rabbit.

Tuesday, Oct. 24

No arrests were made.

• A vehicle repossession was conducted by Collateral Recover Services on Mustang Drive at 9:13 a.m. A 2010 Acura was repossessed.

• Neighbor trouble involving the parking of large vehicles to block the complainant’s driveway was investigated on 18 Long Hill Farms at 11:46 a.m. Police spoke to the offending neighbor, who said that his/her guests would pull up closer to the garage to make access for the neighbor easier.

Wednesday, Oct. 25

No arrests were made.

• A motor vehicle accident was investigated in front of 701 New England Road at 7:21 a.m. A student at the Guilford High School went off the roadway at the intersection of New England Road and Long Hill Road.

• A complaint about two males and one female yelling and crying at a house on South Hoop Pole Road near Ridgeview Circle was investigated at 10:20 p.m.
