Police Incident Report for May 4 to 10


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, May 4

No arrests were made.

• A welfare check was made on 900 Boston Post Road at 12:32 p.m. An anonymous caller reported that a family was begging for money outside the store near the parking lot exit.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at Apple Rehab, 10 Boston Post Road, at 1:42 p.m. The incident involved a patient versus patient abuse allegation.

• A complainant at 66 High Street reported loud, live music. Police determined that the noise was not excessive, came from a location “down wind,” and that no noise ordinance was violated.

Friday, May 5

• A 47 year-old Colchester man was arrested at 6:13 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct following an investigation on Ives Place.

• A welfare check was requested on the 400 block of Boston Street at 7:09 a.m. A caller reported that a woman was walking westbound towards the center of town and that she seemed stressed and was screaming. Police could not locate the screaming woman.

• A complaint about a tan pick-up truck that was driving aggressively on Route 77 northbound was investigated on the 2600 block of Durham Road at 5:40 p.m. The pick-up pulled into the driveway of the first house on the west side of Route 77 just north of Route 80.

Saturday, May 6

• A 39 year-old man of Hartwick, New York was arrested at 1:30 p.m. and charged with criminal violation of a restraining order.

• A caller reported that a white male with a backpack was staring in windows on the 300 block of Boston Post Road at 3:14 p.m.

Sunday, May 7

No arrests were made.

• Erratic operation of a silver Honda Accord bearing Connecticut plate 248-AMA was reported on Woodland Road at 11:06 p.m. The vehicle crossed the double yellow line and was driven very slowly. The operator appeared to be a white female with dark hair, in her 40s, and wearing glasses. Police were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

• A welfare check was requested at Jacobs Beach at 4 p.m. A caller reported that a white female was standing in water up to her ankles, and that she was looking down into the water and had not moved for the last 10 minutes. The woman was described as wearing a dark jacket and jeans. Police determined that the woman was a man who was soaking his foot per doctor’s orders.

• Erratic operation of a four-door beige Cadillac was reported on Durham Road north of Stepstone Hill Road at 4:49 p.m. The vehicle lost a tire and was traveling on the wheel rim. The caller believed that the vehicle turned onto Prospect Road. Parts of the tire were retrieved by police.

• Erratic operation of a black truck with yellow trim and unknown plates was reported heading north on the 5000 block of Durham Road at 6:11 p.m.

Monday, May 8

• A 38 year-old man of Moose Hill Road was arrested at 7:05 a.m. and charged with harassment in the second degree and criminal violation of a restraining order.

• A family dispute was investigated on Sugarbush Lane at 9:13 a.m.

• A motor vehicle rollover with injuries was investigated in front of 2850 Boston Post Road at 10:31 a.m.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Mohawk Trail at 11:42 p.m.

Tuesday, May 9

No arrests were made.

• A stumbling raccoon was reported on the front lawn of 131 Stepstone Hill Road by a passing motorist. Police could not locate the raccoon.

Wednesday, May 10

• A 20 year-old Wolcott man was arrested at 9 a.m. and charged with two counts of criminal mischief in the second degree and one count of disorderly conduct.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 2100 Boston Post Road at 10:34 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 19 Spencer Avenue at 3:36 p.m.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 400 block of Saw Mill Road at 4:37 p.m.

• Suspicious activity was investigated on Clear Lake Road at 5:09 p.m. A caller reported that a party on the beach was flying a drone over his house and taking photos.
