• A 65 year-old man of Waterbury Avenue was arrested at 8:30 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, three counts of evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway following a motor vehicle accident on Chapman Avenue.

• A man of unrecorded address was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:18 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to signal a turn following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Durham Road. Occupation: landscaper.

• A motor vehicle accident on private property was investigated at 614 Boston Post Road at 10:52 a.m.

• A 19 year-old Guilford man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1:52 a.m. for reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, speeding, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop in front of 235 Green Hill Road.

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 8 Forest Hill Drive at 10:44 a.m.

• A 71 year-old Clinton woman was issued a citation at 9:30 a.m. for unsafe movement of a motor vehicle when the 2004 Mercury Sable LS Premium she was operating southbound on Chittenden Road drifted to the right shoulder, exited the roadway, and struck small trees. The operator, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, stated that she fell asleep while driving. No injuries were reported or observed.

• A 58 year-old woman of Route 148 was issued a citation at 8:30 p.m. for traveling too fast for conditions (foggy conditions). She was operating a 2011 BMW 328xi eastbound of Route 80 near Owl Hollow Road when she lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the roadway, rolled over, and came to rest in the roadway. The operator, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained injuries and was transported to the Yale clinic in Guilford for treatment and observation.

Saturday, April 1

• At 2 a.m. a 17 year-old man of Beech Tree Ridge was operating a 1997 Jeep Wrangler southbound on Roast Meat Hill Road when he drove off the roadway, striking a wire-rope guardrail and a utility pole. The vehicle came to rest on its roof. The operator suffered injuries that were not life threatening. No enforcement action was indicated in the police press report.

• A burglary was investigated at 400 Roast Meat Hill Road at 8:54 a.m. The house was unoccupied when, during the early morning hours, forced entry was made through a front window. Exit was made through a front door. The burglar likely sustained injuries during the break-in. Citizens with information is asked to contact investigating Trooper Joseph O’Connell at 860-399-2100.

• A 39 year-old East Haddam man was issued a citation at 6:58 a.m. for failure to signal a left turn after the Ford F150 pick-up truck he was operating southbound on Route 81 was struck by a Subaru Crosstrek operated by a 36 year-old Colchester man. The Colchester man attempted to pass the Ford when it appeared that the Ford (which was towing a trailer) had slowed to come to a stop on the right shoulder. Instead of stopping, the operator of the Ford turned left (to enter a driveway) and entered the path of the Subaru after failing to engage the left turn signal. No injuries were reported or observed and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
