Police Incident Report for March 15 to April 4


The North Haven Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Wednesday, March 15

• A 27 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 7:09 p.m. and charged with use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A 33 year-old Branford man was arrested at 7 a.m. and charged with interfering with an officer, possession of narcotics, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, failure to grant right of way at a private road, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and misuse of plate.

• A 29 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 4:46 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, misuse of plate, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Thursday, March 16

• A 40 year-old Wallingford man was arrested at 10:35 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 33 year-old Seymour man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:54 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, misuse of plate, and improper license classification.

Friday, March 17

• A 46 year-old man of Buell Street and a 38 year-old Hamden woman were arrested at 6:52 a.m. Each party was charged with disorderly conduct.

Saturday, March 18

No arrests were made.

• A 20 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 6:19 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating a motor vehicle without license or registration suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and misuse of plate.

• A structure fire was investigated at the Corner of Ridge Road and Cooper Road at 8:32 p.m. The homeowner and sole occupant of the house, Lucille Brunelli, 84, was found deceased in the home. North Haven police detectives along with the Connecticut State Police investigated.

Sunday, March 19 to Monday, March 20

Tuesday, March 21

• A 27 year-old Meriden man was arrested at 2:30 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and violation of a protective order.

• A 28 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 10:11 a.m. and charged with possession of narcotics.

• A 50 year-old West Haven man was arrested at 10:24 a.m. and charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary in the third degree and conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree.

• A 27 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 6 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree.

Wednesday, March 22

• A 29 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 12 p.m. on a warrant charging her with failure to appear in the second degree.

Thursday, March 23

• A 26 year-old man of Staten Island, New York was arrested at 4 a.m. and charged with possession of narcotics, failure to keep a prescription drug in its original container, and three counts of possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

• A 19 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 7:12 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, misuse of plate, and improper license class classification for vehicle driven.

Friday, March 24

Saturday, March 25

• A 33 year-old man of North Kingston, Rhode Island was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:03 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

• A 44 year-old New Haven was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:04 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and misuse of plate.

Sunday, March 26

• A 38 year-old man of Nettleton Avenue was arrested at 2:22 a.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor, breach of peace in the second degree, threatening, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and two counts of possession of an assault weapon. At 12:45 a.m. a woman reported she was parked at a North Haven Medical Center when a man approached her vehicle with a rifle. The woman reported the rifle was equipped with a red laser sight, and was pointed at her. Officers responded and located the suspect inside his Nettleton Avenue home. The investigation revealed that the accused thought the victim was someone who was watching him. He approached the vehicle with the laser-armed rifle planning to confront the person, but realized he was not being watched. Officers determined the rifle was a banned assault weapon, and the accused did not possess the proper permits to own it. A second assault weapon was located inside his residence. In total, six firearms were seized, and the accused was taken into custody. He was processed and released after posting a $10,000 surety bond and was scheduled to be arraigned on April 6.

Monday, March 27

• A 19 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 2 p.m. and charged with larceny in the second degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree, and failure to pay or plead a citation.

• An 18 year-old resident of New Haven was arrested at 3:30 p.m. and charged with larceny in the second degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree.

• A 50 year-old man of unknown address was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:03 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and misuse of plate.

Tuesday, March 28

• A 32 year-old Hamden man was arrested at 2 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

Wednesday, March 29

• A 22 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 10:17 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, larceny in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree, three counts of burglary in the third degree, and conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal mischief, and larceny.

• A 40 year-old man of unknown address was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:49 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and improper marker plate.

Thursday, March 30

No arrests were made.

• A 29 year-old Hamden man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 6:23 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and traveling unreasonably fast.

Friday, March 31

• A 47 year-old Hamden man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:30 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

• A 37 year-old man of Indianapolis, Indiana was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:25 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

• A 23 year-old Hamden man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1:21 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and misuse of plate.

• A 34 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:45 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

• A 47 year-old man of State Street was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:54 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

• A 37 year-old East Haven woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:27 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

• A 31 year-old Hamden man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 2:08 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, evading responsibility (fleeing the scene of an accident), and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

• A 23 year-old New Haven woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
