Police Incident Report for March 8 to 14


The Sound publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in Branford and North Branford. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Branford

Wednesday, March 8

• A 20 year-old Waterbury woman was arrested at 10:06 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree.

• A 26 year-old man of Ivy Street was issued a misdemeanor summons at 2:55 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of plate, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.

Thursday, March 9

• A 39 year-old Naugatuck woman was arrested at 1:58 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and fraudulent use of an automatic teller machine.

Friday, March 10

• A 25 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 11:30 a.m. and charged with two counts of failure to appear in the second degree and two counts of violation of probation.

• A 39 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 7:09 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to renew registration.

Saturday, March 11

• A 30 year-old man of Cedar Knolls Drive was arrested at 1:15 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A 28 year-old man of Breezy Lane was arrested at 6:13 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

Sunday, March 12

• A 21 year-old man of Red Hill Road was arrested at 3:22 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 29 year-old man of Pepperwood Lane was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:01 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident) and failure to obey a control signal.

Monday, March 13

• A 54 year-old man of Main Street was arrested at 11:25 a.m. and charged with sexual assault in the fourth degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, and risk of injury to a minor, and failure to halt alcoholic beverage possession by an underage person.

• A 48 year-old man of Jefferson Road was arrested at 11:41 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

Tuesday, March 14

• An 18 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 2:04 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

• An 18 year-old man of Briarwood Lane was arrested at 2:04 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 19 year-old man of Montoya Drive was arrested at 2:04 a.m. and charged with criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 67 year-old Ansonia woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 7:30 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

From March 8 to 14, Branford police issued 14 citations to motorists for traveling unreasonably fast, 10 citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, nine citations for failure to obey a control signal, nine citations for using a hand-held cell phone while driving, three citations for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, and two citations for speeding. One citation was issued for each of the following: failure to obey a stop sign, failure to yield right of way, passing in a no-passing zone, interfering with an emergency 911 call, and failure to renew driver’s license.

North Branford

Wednesday, March 8 to Friday, March 10

No arrests were made.

Saturday, March 11

• A 25 year-old man of Brookfield Drive in Northford was arrested at 6 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree and disorderly conduct, criminal mischief in the third degree, interfering with an officer, assault on a peach officer, disorderly conduct, and violation of conditions of released in the second degree.

Sunday, March 12

No arrests were made.

Monday, March 13

No arrests were made.

• A 33 year-old man of unrecorded address was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:06 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to have headlights lit or devices illuminated.

Tuesday, March 14

No arrests were made.

From March 8 to 14, North Branford police issued eight citations to motorists for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and four citations for traveling unreasonably fast. One citation was issued for each of the following: operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, using a hand-held cell phone while driving, failure to signal a turn, failure to grant right of way, violation of exhaust regulations, failure to drive right, and traveling too fast for conditions.
