Police Incident Report for March 2 to 15


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, March 2

• A 53 year-old man of redacted address was arrested at 10:15 a.m. and charged with violation of a protective order.

• A 28 year-old Branford man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree and larceny in the third degree.

• A complaint about credit card fraud was investigated at 900 Boston Post Road at 11 a.m.

Friday, March 3

• A 52 year-old Madison man was arrested at 6:23 p.m. on warrant charging him with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A complaint about a man walking around the Guilford Police Department demanding an audience with the chief of police was investigated at 7:20 a.m. The man was known to police.

• A complaint about a small dog referred to as “Snowball” constantly allowed to roam by its owner was investigated on Woods End Road at 9:14 a.m.

• A low flying jet, green in color, was reported near 125 Durham Road at 11:35 a.m.

• A raccoon acting intoxicated was reported in a field near Lake Beach Road at 2:35 p.m.

• A complaint about juveniles was investigated on Sam Hill Road at Water Street at 4:43 p.m. The youths were gone when police arrived.

Saturday, March 4

• A 36 year-old woman of Whitfield Street was arrested at 9:44 a.m. and charged with interfering with an officer, disorderly conduct, harassment in the second degree, and violation of conditions of release in the second degree.

Sunday, March 5

No arrests were made.

• A sudden death was reported at 201 Granite Road at 11:48 a.m.

• A loud explosion was reported by three callers located on Northwood Drive and Autumn Ridge at 8:03 p.m. The origin of the sound could not be determined.

Monday, March 6

No arrests were made.

• A breach of peace incident involving a man and a woman arguing was investigated at 1:34 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 122 White Birch Lane at 11:04 a.m. A credit card was opened without authorization in the complainant’s name.

Tuesday, March 7

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about someone from the Glenwood Road neighborhood, driving a Honda Civic four-door sedan and not stopping for children trying to cross the road and enter a school bus, was investigated on Glenwood Drive at 7:39 a.m. Only a partial number of the vehicle’s Connecticut license plate was reported: 974. The operator of the suspect Honda was reported as a white male with a small child seated in the rear seat. The complainant reported that the same driver has not stopped in the past when passing a stop sign on the road.

• The complaint about a roaming dog was investigated on Fernwood Drive at 9:36 a.m.

Wednesday, March 8

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 600 block of New England Road at 7:48 a.m.

• A complaint about identity theft was investigated at 260 West Lake Avenue at 9:48 a.m.

• An unwanted person complaint was investigated on the 300 block of Moose Hill Road at 6:30 p.m. The unwanted person was known to the complainant.

Thursday, March 9

• A 60 year-old man of Michael Drive was arrested at 3 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and threatening the first degree following an incident on Flat Meadow Road.

• A 45 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 6 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A complaint about identity fraud involving identification theft was investigated at 1481 Long Hill Road at 1:44 p.m.

• Threatening was investigated on Michael Drive at 2:04 p.m.

• Suspicious activity was investigated at 239 Race Hill Road at 7:09 p.m. A complaint reported that a light was on when she arrived home and that she heard noises in her apartment.

Friday, March 10

No arrests were made.

• A vehicle repossession was conducted on Pearl Street at 12:53 a.m.

• An anonymous caller reported that people were riding four-wheel all-terrain vehicles on the road on Bluff View Drive at 9:44 a.m. The caller reported that this was an ongoing problem.

• Suspicious activity was reported at the Guilford Savings Bank, 1 Park Street, at 4:42 p.m. A white male entered the premises carrying a briefcase and wearing dark clothing, a green plaid scarf wrapped around his face, and sunglasses. He was asked the remove the scarf and glasses and then left in an unknown direction.

• A white male in a plaid scarf and sunglasses was reported acting suspiciously inside a store located at 1116 Boston Post Road at 5:37 p.m.

• A concern about a noise in the basement of 807 Mulberry Point Road was investigated at 10:46 p.m.

Saturday, March 11

No arrests were made.

• A larceny from a motor vehicle was investigated at 387 Soundview Road at 6 a.m.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 255 Durham Road at 10:48 a.m. An unknown person opened a credit card in the complainant’s name and $12,000 was charged to the card.

• A complaint about youths throwing snowballs at vehicles was investigated on Nut Plains Road at 2:39 p.m.

Sunday, March 12

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 265 New England Road at 1:35 p.m.

• The operation of an all-terrain vehicles on the blue trail of preserve property was reported on Durham Road at 4:08 p.m. Police were unable to locate the offending vehicles or their operators.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Sperry Drive at 8:34 p.m.

Monday, March 13

• A 55 year-old New London man was arrested at 4 p.m. and charged with stalking in the second degree and harassment in the second degree.

Tuesday, March 14

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Lone Pine Trail at 12:39 a.m.

• A complaint about unwanted persons in the backyard of 1542 Great Hill Road was investigated at 9:35 p.m.

Wednesday, March 15

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about Internet fraud was investigated at 620 Durham Road at 4:39 p.m. A savings account was opened illegally in the complainant’s name.

• A complaint about Internet fraud was investigated at 795 Nut Plains at 5:23 p.m.
