Police Incident Report for Jan. 5 to Feb. 1


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Jan. 5

No arrests were made.

• A noise complaint was investigated on the 300 block of East River Road at 1 a.m. A car with a loud muffler was reportedly being operated up and down the roadway. Police could not locate the suspect vehicle.

Friday, Jan. 6

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about an uninvited neighbor entering a home was investigated on Dogwood Lane at 1:28 p.m.

• A publisher’s clearing house scam was reported at 37 High Street at 2:29 p.m.

• A complaint was investigated at 4:16 p.m. that involved middle school age children who reported that older kids in the community room at the Community Center, 32 Church Street, smelled of marijuana.

Saturday, Jan. 7

No arrests were made.

• A 48 year-old man of Durham Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 3:50 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

Sunday, Jan. 8

• A 41 year-old man of Crooked Hill Road was arrested at 8:41 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, and interfering with an emergency 911 call.

Monday, Jan. 9

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about Internet fraud was investigated at 49 Hope Meadow Circle at 2:14 p.m.

• A complaint about sexual assault was investigated at 400 Church Street at 3:10 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 10

No arrests were made.

• A theft was investigated at 10 Boston Post Road at 1:48 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 11

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 800 block of North Madison Road at 11:27 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 12

No arrests were made.

• The report of an intoxicated mid-aged male was investigated on Still Meadow Drive at 2:36 p.m.

• A vehicle repossession was reported on Weatherly Trail at 6:04 p.m.

• A report of suspicious activity was investigated at 843 Beaver Head Road at 11:46 p.m. Someone knocked on the front door while the complainant was home alone.

Friday, Jan. 13

No arrests were made.

• The manager of McDonalds called police at 10:26 a.m. to report that a person operating a vehicle with New York license plates ripped up papers and threw papers and credit cards out the vehicle window into the parking lot.

• Suspicious activity was investigated on Driftwood Lane at 12:19 p.m. A woman reported concern about a friend’s activity.

• Suspicious activity was investigated on Water Street at 1:54 p.m. A complainant reported that two men with accents banged on the door and stated that their vehicle was disabled on a nearby bridge.

• Harassment was investigated on Crestwood Drive at 5:07 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 14

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief on private property was investigated at 101 Michael Drive at 6:40 a.m. The tires were flashed on two vehicles and a mailbox was damaged.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 10 Riverside Court at 8:40 a.m. A tire was slashed on two different vehicles and a mailbox was damaged.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 23 Murray Lane at 9:37 a.m. An account was illegally opened in the name of the complainant’s wife.

• A theft was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 8:26 p.m.

• A complaint about sexual assault was investigated at 9:28 p.m. The address of the incident was redacted by police.

Sunday, Jan. 15

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about a barking dog was investigated on Kim Court at 3:32 a.m. The owner was contacted and said the dog would be brought inside.

Monday, Jan. 16

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about hunters possibly hunting too close of a Duck Hole Road residence was investigated at 9:26 a.m.

• A welfare check was made at 1:01 p.m. Suicidal comments were made by an individual on Facebook. Police located the individual via a trace of the computer’s IP address registration.

• A shoplifting incident at Walmart was investigated at 4:19 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 17

• A 47 year-old Clinton man was arrested at 2:07 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree and violation of probation.

• An animal nuisance was investigated on Gina Lane at 5:14 a.m. The complainant reported that a neighbor’s dog had been barking since midnight. Police could not locate suspect dog.

Wednesday, Jan. 18

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 372 White Birch Drive at 6:55 a.m. Multiple mailboxes were destroyed in the neighborhood.

• A complaint about mailbox damage was investigated at 570 Nut Plains Road at 7:10 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 19

• A 24 year-old man of Brooklyn, New York was arrested at 11:43 p.m. and charged with receipt of goods from illegal use of a credit card, larceny in the sixth degree, identity theft in the third degree, interfering with an officer, criminal impersonation, disobeying the signal of an officer, and conspiracy to commit each of the listed charges.

• A complaint about harassment/fraud was investigated of Hidden Lane at 3:33 p.m.

• A theft attempt at Walmart was investigated at 4:37 p.m. The suspect was described as a white male in his mid-40s, salt and pepper hair, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and sunglasses. He was operating a red Nissan Xterra with no visible license plates. He fled eastbound on Boston Post Road.

• The fraudulent use of a credit card was investigated at Walmart at 5:51 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 20

• A 21 year-old man of Brooklyn, New York was arrested at 1:34 a.m. and charged with receipt of goods from illegal use of a credit card, larceny in the sixth degree, identity theft in the third degree, interfering with an officer, criminal impersonation, disobeying the signal of an officer, and conspiracy to commit each of the listed charges.

• A 20 year-old woman of Brooklyn, New York was arrested at 2:04 a.m. and charged with receipt of goods from illegal use of a credit card, larceny in the sixth degree, identity theft in the third degree, interfering with an officer, criminal impersonation, disobeying the signal of an officer, and conspiracy to commit each of the listed charges.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 50 Sylvan Hills Road at 10:21 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud involving a hacked account was investigated at 99 South Hoop Pole Road at 3:08 p.m.

• A custody dispute was investigated on the 1000 block of Boston Post Road at 3:40 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 21

• A 51 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 5:35 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 47 Davis Drive at 11:02 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 165 Saw Hill Road at 12:28 p.m. A mailbox was damaged during the overnight hours.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 31 Fernwood Drive at 2:15 p.m. An unknown vehicle stuck and damaged a fence during the overnight hours.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 570 New England Road at 3:39 p.m.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at Walmart at 5:35 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Valley Shore Drive at 8:03 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 22

• A 26 year-old woman of Little Meadow Road was arrested at 4:11 p.m. and charged with robbery in the third degree, assault in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree, breach of peace in the second degree, use of drug paraphernalia, and evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident).

• A 30 year-old man of Little Meadow Road was arrested at 4:11 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 87 Sugar Bush Lane at 7:34 a.m. and on Hoop Pole Road at 8:02 a.m. Numerous mailboxes were damaged.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Stonewall Lane at 8:22 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 275 Race Hill Road at 9:17 a.m. A mailbox was damaged.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 375 Old Whitfield Street at 10:02 a.m. Air was let out of a truck tire.

• Damage to numerous mailboxes along Little Meadow Road from house number 138 through house number 1066 were reported at 10:50 a.m. Red tags were left by police for homeowners who had not yet contacted police.

• A theft was investigated at Walmart at 2:01 p.m.

Monday, Jan. 23

No arrests were made.

• A fight was investigated at the Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 12:46 p.m.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 98 Saddle Hill Drive at 4:49 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 24

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at Walmart at 12:23 p.m. A panhandler was removed from the premises by police.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Apple Tree Lane at 7:41 p.m. The incident involved an ongoing issue of vehicle headlights.

Thursday, Jan. 26

No arrests were made.

• The repossession of a 2014 Altima was reported at 64 South Hoop Pole Road at 5:02 a.m.

• An animal nuisance involving concern over a cat was investigated on the 1700 block of Great Hill Road at 10 a.m. The report was filed through North Haven police via a North Haven veterinary office.

Friday, Jan. 27

No arrests were made.

• A notification was made on Hart Landing about a family remember found deceased in Massachusetts at 11:24 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 28

• A 65 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 7:13 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper use of a multiple lane highway.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 119 Driftwood Lane at 9:47 a.m. Two tires were slashed.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1 Riverside Court at 10:10 a.m. Tires were slashed.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at East Bearhouse Hill at 12:24 p.m.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 1:04 p.m. A customer swore and yelled at a clerk then left.

Sunday, Jan. 29

• A 36 year-old Waterford woman was arrested at 1:55 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1000 Long Hill Road at 4:28 a.m. Wet paint in the road transferred onto two wheel wells of the complainant’s vehicle.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 200 block of North River Street at 3:20 p.m. A boyfriend refused to move out.

Monday, Jan. 30

• A 36 year-old woman of Whitfield Street was arrested at 4:03 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• An issue with a student was investigated at Guilford High School at 12:16 p.m.

• Threatening via telephone as investigated on the 2600 block of Durham Road at 7:18 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 31

• A 41 year-old East Haven woman was arrested at 11:07 a.m. and charged with harassment in the second degree and violation of conditions of release in the second degree. She was processed on a $1,000 bond.

• A motor vehicle accident was investigated at 2158 Boston Post Road at 6:33 a.m. A vehicle bearing Connecticut registration plate 396YJW rolled out of the driveway during the night and struck a guardrail and a sign.

• A theft was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 10:55 a.m.

• A complaint about harassment was investigated on Ledge Hill Road at 1:10 p.m. The complainant was harassed while picking up children from Melissa Jones School.

• A complaint about credit card theft was investigated at 92 Laurel Cliffs Road at 1:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 1

No arrests were made.
