Police Incident Report for Feb. 1 to 7


The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Deep River

Wednesday, Feb. 1

No arrests were made.

Thursday, Feb. 2

No arrests were made.

• A burglary was investigated at 250 Kelsey Hill Road at 9:43 a.m. The homeowner arrived home to find a white male (approximately 5’-9” tall) standing in her kitchen. The man fled out the rear kitchen door. Forced entry was gained through a kitchen window and several items of jewelry were taken. The suspect was not apprehended and no other description of the suspect was given. The incident was still under investigation at press time.

Friday, Feb. 3 to Tuesday, Feb. 7

Chester

Wednesday, Feb. 1

Thursday, Feb. 2

No arrests were made.

• A 17 year-old boy of Castle View Drive was operating a 2007 Nissan Sentra around a curve on Castle View Drive when he struck a 1996 Ford F150 operated by a 24 year-old Westbrook man who was backing into the driveway at 42 Castle View Drive. The teenage driver had failed to clear the frost off his windshield. No enforcement action was indicated in the police report, but the at-fault driver was transported by Chester Fire Department Ambulance to Middlesex Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the struck vehicle reported no injuries.

Friday, Feb. 3 to Sunday, Feb. 5

Monday, Feb. 6

No arrests were made.

• A burglary was investigated at Foley Furnace, 4 Denlar Drive, at 8:10 a.m. A large quantity new copper fittings, pipes, tubes, and coil sets valued at more than $5,000 was taken from the commercial building. Forced entry was made into the building and the burglary was believed to have occurred over the prior week. Anyone with information about this or similar cases is asked to contact Chester Resident Trooper Matt Ewing at 860-526-3605.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Deep Hollow Road at 2:21 p.m. Between 2 p.m. on Feb. 5 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 6, a wire on the engine of a vehicle parked at a residence was cut and removed, causing the vehicle to be inoperable. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Chester resident state trooper’s office at 860-526-3605.
