Police Incident Report for Jan. 11 to 17


The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Clinton

Wednesday, Jan. 11

• A 24 year-old Haddam man was arrested at 12:31 a.m. on a warrant charging him with larceny in the sixth degree.

Thursday, Jan. 12

• A 46 year-old man of Oakwood Lane was arrested at 11:11 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and disorderly conduct following an investigation on East Main Street.

• A 25 year-old Westbrook man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:58 p.m. for reckless driving and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway following a motor vehicle stop on Old Mill Road.

• A 43 year-old man of Oak Ridge Drive was issued a misdemeanor summons at 6:01 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension following a motor vehicle stop on East Main Street.

• An untimely death was investigated on Joshua Lane at 1:03 p.m.

• A burglary was investigated on Morgan Park at 5:11 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 13

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated on Killingworth Turnpike at 3:24 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 14

• A 26 year-old Killingworth man was arrested at 1:52 a.m. for possession of narcotics, failure to keep a narcotic in its original container, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, having an improper number of headlights, operating a vehicle with tinted windows without DMV approval, and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

• A 37 year-old man of Buell Court was arrested at 5:40 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a motor vehicle stop on East Main Street.

• A 30 year-old man of Hide-A-Way was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:59 a.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

• A burglary attempt was investigated on Uncas Road at 2:26 a.m.

• A noise complaint was investigated on West Main Street at 3:45 a.m.

• A burglary was investigated on Killingworth Turnpike at 9:24 a.m.

Sunday, Jan. 15

• A 23 year-old man of Brush Hill Road was arrested at 12:38 a.m. and charged with three counts of burglary in the first degree, three counts of burglary in the third degree, disorderly conduct, larceny in the sixth degree, one count of criminal possession of an electronic defense weapon, multiple counts of criminal mischief in the third degree, criminal trespass in the second degree, disorderly conduct, as well as several counts of larceny in the sixth degree. The accused allegedly burglarized numerous homes and vehicles.

Monday, Jan. 16

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, Jan. 17

• A 60 year-old woman of West Main Street was arrested at 2:52 p.m. on a warrant charging her with risk of injury to a minor and owning or harboring a dog to create a nuisance (subsequent offense).

• A 58 year-old woman of Glenwood Road was arrested at 4:29 p.m. on a warrant charging her with criminal possession of a firearm.

• A 34 year-old woman of Sunnybrook Lane was arrested at 6:35 p.m. and charged with assault in the third degree and disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act.

• A 21 year-old man of Glenwood Road was issued a citation at 3:52 p.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

Westbrook

Wednesday, Jan. 11

No arrests were made.

Thursday, Jan. 12

No arrests were made.

• A 26 year-old man of Old Mail Trail was issued a citation at 1:56 p.m. for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart after the 2009 Honda Accord he was operating westbound on Boston Post Road struck the rear of a 2009 Honda Odyssey operated by a 45 year-old Madison woman. No injuries were reported or observed.

Friday, Jan. 13

• A 57 year-old man of unknown address was arrested at 1:45 p.m. on a warrant charging him with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, and larceny in the fourth degree. Police determined that the accused was a fugitive from justice on DNA evidence linking him to a residential burglary that had occurred in 2002. He was processed and held in lieu of a $200,000 surety bond

Saturday, Jan. 14

No arrests were made.

• A 39 year-old Bridgeport man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:35 a.m. for reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

• A motor vehicle crash was investigated at 1:36 a.m. A man (of unidentified age) of Wickham Court was operating a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe eastbound on Boston Post Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, struck a utility pole, and then struck residence number 793. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. A K9 search was conducted with negative results. The operator was wanted for evading responsibility (fleeing the scene of an accident).

Sunday, Jan. 15 to Tuesday, Jan. 17

No arrests were made.

Old Saybrook

Wednesday, Jan. 11

No arrests were made.

• A 28 year-old Deep River man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 7:24 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway following a motor vehicle stop on East Street.

• A 51 year-old Madison man was issued a citation at 5:35 p.m. for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Route 154.

Thursday, Jan. 12

No arrests were made.

• A 55 year-old Deep River man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 4:24 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart following a motor vehicle accident on Route 1 at the railroad bridge.

Friday, Jan. 13 to Sunday, Jan. 15

No arrests were made.

Monday, Jan. 16

• A 32 year-old Clinton woman was arrested at 3:24 p.m. and charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school. In the same incident a 59 year-old Westbrook woman was charged with sale of narcotics and sale of narcotics within a school zone.

Tuesday, Jan. 17

• A 38 year-old homeless woman was arrested at 4:22 p.m. on a warrant held by Old Saybrook police charging her with breach of peace in the second degree, violation of a restraining order, and criminal mischief in the third degree under the Domestic Violence Act.

From Jan. 11 to 17, Old Saybrook police issued two citations to motorists for failure to renew registration. One citation was issued for each of the following: operating a motor vehicle with an expired driver’s license, failure to drive a reasonably distance apart, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
