Police Incident Report for Nov. 3 to 9


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Nov. 3

No arrests were made.

• Suspicious activity was investigated on Little Meadow Road at 9:51 a.m. A caller reported that two men were in the back yard near the pond. Police learned the men were part of a tree crew working for Eversource.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1611 Great Hill Road at 10:43 a.m. An orange bucket was found on the property with BB holes.

• A caller reported that a male dressed in black, wearing a black mask, with a guitar slung over his back was riding a bicycle on the 1600 block of Boston Post Road at 1:48 p.m.

• A possible attempted burglary was investigated at 669 Boston Post Road at 6:33 p.m. A rear window was broken. No entry was gained.

Friday, Nov. 4

No arrests were made.

• A glass break alarm was reported at 115 Old Quarry Road at 8:04 a.m.

• The theft of an anti-Shoreline Greenway Trail signs was reported at 986 Leetes Island Road at 12:02 p.m.

• A young male called police from Maple Hill Road at 4:21 p.m. claiming he was seeing things and needed help and then hung up.

• An injured raccoon was reported at 84 Union Street at 4:52 p.m.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 92 Leatherman Road at 5:18 p.m.

• Suspicious activity was reported a 920 Nut Plains Road at 5:21 p.m. A caller reported seeing a man in his 20s or 30s, dark hair, light pants, walk up the driveway of a house under construction with a beer in his hand at 5:21 p.m. The man turned out to be an employee of Sunset Creek Construction, which is building the house.

• A caller reported that a group of teens was carrying a female at 7:48 p.m. on Union Street. The caller also reported hearing a loud bang and a scream.

Saturday, Nov. 5

• A 50 year-old man of Church Street was arrested at 2:08 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and improper use of high beams.

• A noise complaint involving a loud party was investigated at 53 Woodland Road at 12:30 a.m.

• An injured cat in a horse paddock was reported at 280 Old Pent Road at 8:00 a.m.

• A theft was investigated at 2614 Boston Post Road was 9:34 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 190 Schoolside Lane at 2:41 p.m. An account was opened under the complainant’s name.

• A theft was investigated at 15 Union Street at 5:59 p.m. Hillary Clinton political signs were stolen during the overnight hours from the front lawn.

Sunday, Nov. 6

• A 52 year-old Cheshire man was arrested at 7:17 p.m. and charged with beach of peace in the second degree and violation of a protective order.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 437 Goose Lane at 7:19 a.m. A mailbox was damaged during the overnight hours.

Monday, Nov. 7

No arrests were made.

• The theft of birthday cards was investigated at 445 Goose Lane at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 8

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 600 block of North Madison Road at 12:09 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 280 South Union Street at 11:25 a.m. Political signs were placed over handicap parking signs. The political signs were removed by police.

• A theft was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 12:49 p.m.

• A theft was investigated at 295 Clapboard Hill Road at 1:52 p.m. Anti-Shoreline Greenway Trail signs were stolen.

Wednesday, Nov. 9

• A 70 year-old East Haven woman was arrested at 7:50 p.m. and charged with evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

• Harassment was investigated on County Road at 9:56 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 7 Wingate Road 10:43 a.m.

During the week of Nov. 3 to 9, Guilford Police received 212 calls for service and 154 investigations were officer initiated. Police made three arrests, investigated 28 motor vehicle accidents, and issued five citations, 67 written warnings, two verbal warnings, and three parking tags. Police also responded to 12 false burglar alarms. Fifteen calls were canceled. A total of 381 incidents were handled by police.
