The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Oct. 6

• A 53 year-old man of Munger Road was arrested at 12:05 p.m. and charged with threatening in the second degree and disorderly conduct.

• A theft was reported at 1893 Route 80. A Trump political sign was stolen from the property during the overnight hours.

• Suspicious activity was investigated at 233 Church Street at 8:25 a.m. Concern over a picture on a cell phone was investigated at Adams School.

• A complaint about a vehicle being operated erratically on Horseshoe Road was investigated at 10:03 a.m. The suspect vehicle displayed a Washington state plate with number AUS2383.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Bearhouse Hill at 6:49 p.m. A town sign was vandalized.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Raymond Road at 11:17 p.m. A neighbor’s guest drove over the complainant’s lawn.

Friday, Oct. 7

No arrests were made.

• Guilford police assisted Madison police in a manhunt for a fugitive spotted in Madison at 10:24 a.m.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 50 Stonehedge Lane at 5:30 p.m. An account was illegally opened in the complainant’s name.

Saturday, Oct. 8

• A 20 year-old man of Durham Road was arrested at 6:03 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs under the age of 21, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A complaint about the theft of checks was investigated at 1716 Long Hill Road at 3:54 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 9

No arrests were made.

Monday, Oct. 10

No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on High Meadow Road at 9:51 a.m.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at 455 Boston Post Road at 2:51 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 11

No arrests were made.

• A civil investigation was conducted at 439 North River Street at 10:05 a.m. A complainant reported that a contractor took money and did not perform the work. A report was filed with the state.

• A complaint about fraud involving an AT&T account was investigated at 412 Little Meadow Road at 6:09 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 12

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 455 West Lake Avenue at 9:13 a.m. A mailbox was hit with a baseball bat and destroyed during the overnight hours.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at the Town Marina at 10:42 a.m. Lines to a boat were cut and the boat sunk.

Thursday, Oct. 13

• A 42 year-old Stratford man was arrested at 1:08 p.m. and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle with an ignition lock-out device.

• A dead dog was reported in the driveway of 390 South Union Street at 10:02 a.m. A driver who left the scene was believed to be responsible.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on Wall Street at 1:03 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 14

• A 38 year-old New London man was arrested at 2:43 a.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree.

• A 36 year-old Groton woman was arrested at 3:23 a.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 2004 Boston Post Road at 12:36 p.m.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at Big Y, 830 Boston Post Road, at 2:49 p.m. The accused was banned from the store.

• A caller reported that he believed a llama had a broken leg on the 1355 block of Boston Post Road (Bishop’s Orchard). Police contacted the owner at 6:41 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Wauwinet Court at 9:12 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 15

No arrests were made.

• A reported of two males arguing was investigated on Bunker Hill Road at 1:40 a.m. After police arrived a citation was issued for a minor for possession of alcoholic beverage by a minor.

• A domestic dispute was investigated at the 2100 block of Boston Post Road at 12:30 p.m.

• Two different reports of dogs locked in vehicles were investigated during the afternoon hours. In both cases the dogs were okay and the vehicles had enough ventilation and the animals were not in distress.

Sunday, Oct. 16

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 10 Millinocket Street at 8:58 a.m. Vehicle windows were smashed during the overnight hours.

• Suspicious activity was investigated at 171 Boston Street at 2:42 p.m. A concerned professional archaeologist reported that males were digging on historic property.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Maupas Road at 7:10 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 17

• A 20 year-old man of West Street was arrested at 9:26 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the first degree.

• A 41 year-old man of North Madison Road was arrested at 6:55 p.m. and charged with threatening in the second degree and use of drug paraphernalia.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Michael Drive at 7:03 a.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 5000 block of Durham Road at 4:03 p.m. The conflict was between a mother and an adult daughter.

• All-terrain vehicles were reported operating on Guilford Land Conservation Trust property at Bluff Head mountain at 9:04 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 18

No arrests were made.

• A 35 year-old man of Driftwood Lane was arrested at 6:07 p.m. and charged with violation of a protective order.

• A theft of political signs was reported on Weatherly Trail at 8:29 a.m. Signs throughout the neighborhood were stolen.

Wednesday, Oct. 19

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about identity fraud involving a credit card was investigated at 199 Village Pond Road at 7:08 p.m.

• A caller reported that a vehicle’s trunk lid was left open at 2209 Durham Road. Everything was in order. The owner left the door open by accident.

Thursday, Oct. 20

• A 49 year-old Bridgeport woman was arrested at 11:35 a.m. and charged with robbery in the third degree, burglary in the third degree, and larceny in the second degree.

• A theft was investigated at 3000 Long Hill Road at 10:50 a.m.

• Harassment was investigated on White Birch Drive at 2 p.m.

• The report of an intoxicated person was investigated on Still Meadow Road at 8:58 p.m. A verbal dispute was noted with a male party.

Friday, Oct. 21

No arrests were made.

• A theft was investigated at 22 Broad Street at 8:19 a.m.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 199 Village Pond Road at 9:21 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Bearhouse Hill at 2:29 p.m. Damage was done to signage at the East River Preserve. The caller believed the suspect’s vehicle was parked at the trailhead.

• Threatening was investigated on the 300 block of Long Hill Road at 3:58 p.m.

• A complaint about kids running through the area ringing doorbells was investigated on Bunker Hill Road at 10:06 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 22

No arrests were made.

• A caller from Wauwinet Court reported hearing a male voice yelling profanity and the sound of breaking glass at 3:51 a.m.

• A theft was investigated at 67 Golden Hill Drive at 2:21 p.m.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 95 Wauwinet Trail at 10:02 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 23

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 18 White Birch Drive at 9:58 a.m. A mailbox was damaged and a scooter was found at the scene.

• A theft was investigated at 325 White Birch Drive at 5:16 p.m. The entire mailbox and post was removed between nightfall and midnight.

• A caller on Laurelbrook Drive reported hearing a male voice yelling at 8:39 p.m. Police learned the incident involved two men arguing about a disagreement over who should not be driving.

Monday, Oct. 24

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 849 Boston Post Road at 8:15 a.m. An account was opened at Connex Credit Union for a person reported to be a deployed service member.

• A theft was investigated at the Guilford High School at 1:42 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 25

No arrests were made.

• A theft of wine was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 11:15 a.m.

• Suspicious activity was investigated on the 2300 block of Boston Post Road at 2:32 p.m. A male in his 20s to 30s was peeking in mailboxes and carrying a brown paper bag. The area was checked and no one was located.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Apple Tree Lane at 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 26

• A 53 year-old Madison man was arrested at 12:33 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree on a person age 60 or older or who is handicapped or pregnant.

• A 20 year-old man of Shore Drive was arrested at 4:15 p.m. and charged with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A commercial burglary was investigated at 516 Route 80 at 2:09 a.m.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 172 Briarwood Drive at 5:55 a.m.

• A theft was investigated at 2351 Boston Post Road at 9:09 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated at 920 Little Meadow Road at 9:24 a.m.

• A theft was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 11:32 a.m.

• A burglary was investigated at 97 White Birch Drive at 4:43 p.m.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated on the 600 block of Route 80 at 8:59 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 28

• A 27 year-old Durham man was arrested at 8:27 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• Neighbor trouble involving on-going issues was investigated on the 1700 block of Little Meadow Road at 11:47 a.m.

• Harassment was investigated at 81 Whitfield Street at 5:26 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 29

No arrests were made.

• Harassment involving an ex girlfriend was investigated on River Colony Road at 11:26 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 94 Kimberly Drive at 1:59 p.m.

• A theft involving a stolen wallet was investigated at 830 Boston Post Road at 4:11 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 30

• A 42 year-old man of Cooks Lane was arrested at 3 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act.

• A 53 year-old man of Goose Lane was arrested at 7:45 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A 46 year-old woman of Andrew Lane was arrested at 9:14 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• Harassment involving an ex-boyfriend was investigated at 3208 Durham Road at 4:45 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 42 Union Street at 9:23 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 31

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about credit card fraud was investigated at 3133 Durham Road at 10:49 a.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

No arrests were made.

• A theft of political signs was investigated at 49 South Fair Street at 8:15 a.m.

• Criminal mischief on private property was investigated at 8:52 a.m. The address was withheld by police. The incident involved sheetrock screws drilled into vehicle tires.

• Harassment was investigated below 100 Durham Road at 9:27 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 9 Island Bay Circle. Damage was done to a white mailbox printed with a leaf pattern.

• The theft of a mailbox was investigated at 710 North Madison Road at 7:05 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

No arrests were made.

• A theft from a motor vehicle was investigated at 1820 Moose Hill Road at 7:25 p.m.

• Suspicious activity was investigated at 55 North Reeves Avenue at 8:34 p.m. A caller reported damage to windows and possible entry. The damage was determined to be cause by a small animal.

From Oct. 6 to Nov. 2, Guilford Police received 708 calls for service and 726 investigations were officer initiated. Police made 16 arrests, investigated 71 motor vehicle accidents, and issued 34 citations, 386 written warnings, 8 verbal warnings, and one parking tags. Police also responded to 50 false burglar alarms. Thirty-one calls were canceled. A total of 1,465 incidents were handled by police.
