Police Incident Report for Sept. 15 to Oct. 5


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, Sept. 15

• A 50 year-old New London man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. and charged with robbery in the third degree and larceny in the sixth degree.

• Suspicious behavior was investigated on East Gate Road at 3:42 a.m. An anonymous caller reported that an indescribable vehicle was driven through the neighborhood four times in a row. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.

• An anonymous caller reported that there were chickens in the road near 81 Three Mile Course at 9:26 a.m. The chickens were gone when police arrived.

• Medical assistance was rendered for an injured bicyclist in front of 1831 Great Hill Road at 2:14 p.m.

• Animal bites were reported at 55 Coach Lamp Lane at 6:19 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 16

• A 66 year-old woman of Bluff View Drive was arrested at 1:01 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• Sudden death was investigated at 361 Peddlers Road at 12:53 a.m.

• Problems with a juvenile were investigated on Church Street at 8:38 a.m.

• A noise complaint from a loud party was investigated on the 200 block of New England Road at 10:04 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 17

No arrests were made.

• A theft was investigated at 111 Goose Lane at 1:35 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Pearl Street at 6:14 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 300 block of Tanner Marsh Road at 6:50 p.m.

• Criminal mischief involving a fence was investigated at 37 Lovers Lane at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 18

• A 52 year-old Branford man was arrested at 6:14 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A 45 year-old man of Goose Lane was arrested at 9:48 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A 55 year-old woman of the 900 block of Route 80 was arrested at 11:03 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Monday, Sept. 19

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 300 Boston Post Road. The water fountain at the Comfort Inn was damaged.

Tuesday, Sept. 20

No arrests were made.

• A problem with a male student was investigated at the Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 2:29 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 21

• A 38 year-old woman of the 2400 block of Long Hill Road was arrested at 8:29 a.m. and charged with threatening in the second degree.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, at 5:02 p.m. A woman was detained for attempted shoplifting. After police arrived the woman paid for all the stolen items and the store manager dropped the charges. The woman was told not to return to Walmart.

Thursday, Sept. 22

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Woodland Road at 7:22 p.m. A son of the household and his girlfriend had a verbal argument.

Friday, Sept. 23

• A 54 year-old man of Long Hill Road was arrested at 8:12 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct, assault in the third degree, strangulation on the third degree, and risk of injury to a minor.

• A report of two vehicles that passed a stopped school bus that had its red lights flashing was investigated in front of 33 Whitfield Street at 5:41 a.m. The incident happened the day before. The license plates of the suspect vehicles were reported as CT-322TEM and CT-763LC.

• A complaint about fraud involving a false message from the IRS was investigated at 4 Covey Crossing at 12:31 p.m.

• A noise complaint was investigated at 1250 Boston Post Road at 11:06 p.m. The upstairs neighbor was allegedly stomping around.

• Harassment was investigated at 147 Barnshed Lane at 11:15 p.m. The complainant reported that an unwanted male party would not stop calling and it was believed the man would attempt to come into the house. The unwanted male was informed by police that he must leave the area.

Saturday, Sept. 24

No arrests were made.

• A vehicle license plate was reported missing at 590 West Street at 9:52 a.m.

• A theft was investigated at 230 Church Street at 1:57 p.m. The complaint believed that a neighbor’s movers took her wallet.

• A wallet was found on Hart Road at 4:46 p.m. and turned over to police.

• A noise complaint involving loud music was investigated on the 200 block of Nortontown Road at 10:25 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 25

No arrests were made.

• The repossession of a Saturn bearing plate 8AMMP1 was conducted by Skyline Recover at 145 Union Street without incident at 2:27 a.m.

• A motor vehicle accident involving a bicycle was reported in front of 1100 Boston Post Road at 9:52 a.m.

• A diamond was found at 605 New England Road at 1:34 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 2030 Durham Road at 3:22. The complainant reported that this was the third time someone cut half of her hydrangea bush.

Monday, Sept. 26

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about noisy garbage collection on Whitfield Street was reported at 6:16 a.m.

• A complaint about a baby squirrel in a house at 185 Meadow Hills Drive was reported at 9:25 a.m.

• A complaint about a baby skunk in the courtyard of 233 Church Street was reported at 11:04 a.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Driftwood Lane at 5:10 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 27

• A 26 year-old woman of Old Whitfield Street was arrested at 6:15 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct, risk of injury to a minor, and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

• Big Y loss prevention reported that a suspicious person was in the store, 830 Boston Post Road, at 10:57 a.m.

• The theft of coins from an unlocked motor vehicle was investigated at 113 Kenneth Circle at 4:22 p.m.

• Harassment by an ex-roomate was investigated on Ives Place at 4:43 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 200 block of Whitfield Street at 5:18 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 28

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about chickens in the roadway was investigated at 400 Three Mile Course at 7:50 a.m. The chickens were back in their own yard when the animal control officer arrived. At 9:37 a.m. a complainant reported that the chickens were back in the roadway in front of 300 Three Mile Course.

• A complaint about a calf in the roadway was reported at 3310 Durham Road at 1:34 p.m.

• A burglary was investigated at 1196 West Lake Avenue at 2:22 p.m.

• A theft was investigated at 109 West Lake Road at 6:54 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 29

• A 26 year-old Middletown man was arrested at 11:02 a.m. and charged with two counts of larceny in the sixth degree.

Friday, Sept. 30

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 2175 Durham Road at 10:36 a.m. Someone broke a bottle in the driveway during the overnight hours.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Munger Road at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 1

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card for online services was investigated at 456 Long Hill Road at 10:27 a.m.

Sunday, Oct. 2

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on the 200 block of Moose Hill Road at 8:43 p.m. The complainant reported an on-going issue of receiving text messages from her ex-husband.

Monday, Oct. 3

• A 59 year-old Madison man was arrested at 1:04 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the first degree.

• A domestic dispute between elderly spouses was investigated on Horseshoe Road at 2:06 a.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Landon’s Way at 11:48 a.m.

• Criminal trespass was investigated on Blue Hills Drive at 7:59 p.m. All-terrain vehicles were reported on Guilford Land Conservation Trust property. The vehicles were gone when police arrived.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 43 Water Street at 11:45 p.m. Details of the incident were redacted by police.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 174 Nut Plains Road at 2:48 p.m. A mailbox was split.

• Harassment was investigated on the 1700 block of Long Hill Road at 4:44 p.m.

• Suspicious activity was reported at 203 Schoolside Lane at 8:08 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 5

No arrests were made.

• The report of a suspicious motor vehicle was investigated in front of 90 Horseshoe Road at 8:51 a.m. A black SUV occupied by one male was parked in front of the residence for over an hour. The vehicle had Massachusetts plates according to a neighbor who witnessed the incident. Additional information on the report about this incident was redacted by police.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Munger Road at 12:278 p.m.

• A dispute was investigated on the 1100 block of West Lake Avenue at 4:40 p.m.
