Police Incident Report for July 13 to 26


The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, July 13

No arrests were made.

• A 20 year-old Westbrook woman was issued a citation at 9:18 p.m. for unsafe backing after the 2016 Toyota Tacoma she was operating in reverse out of a parking space in the private parking lot of the Essex Steam Train & River Boat Ride (located at 1 Railroad Avenue) struck a 2013 Ford F-350 owned by the Department of Public Safety.

Thursday, July 14

No arrests were made.

• A 25 year-old man of Summit Street in Ivoryton was issued a citation at 8:17 a.m. for failure to drive right. He was operating a 2014 Honda Civic eastbound on Main Street when the Honda sideswiped a 2000 Volvo S80 that was parked and unoccupied on the right shoulder in front of 88 Main Street. The cited operator claimed no injuries in the crash.

Friday, July 15

No arrests were made.

Saturday, July 16

• A 26 year-old Clinton woman was arrested at 2:43 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs (her second arrest for this offense), failure to signal a turn, and possession of marijuana. She was stopped while traveling north on Route 154 near Route 9 exit 4 in an erratic manner. She agreed to taking and then failed a standardized field sobriety test.

Sunday, July 17 to Wednesday, July 20

Thursday, July 21

No arrests were made.

• A 26 year-old Waterbury man was issued a citation at 5:13 p.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart after the 2010 Honda Accord we was operating northbound on Plain Road at West Avenue collided with a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer operated by a 59 year-old Wallingford man. No injuries were reported or observed.

Friday, July 22 to Tuesday, July 26

Deep River

Wednesday, July 13 to Thursday, July 14

Friday, July 15

• A 20 year-old Moodus man was arrested at 10:40 p.m. and charged with interfering with an officer and breach of peace.

Saturday, July 16

No arrests were made.

Sunday, July 17

• A 61 year-old Hartford man was arrested at 7:06 a.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree following a motor vehicle stop for speeding. He was also issued a citation for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway and a misdemeanor summons for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

• A 47 year-old man of West Bridge Lane reported the theft of a 2013 Kawasaki Mule model KAF400ADF, serial number JK1AFEA16DB562352. The vehicle was taken on July 16 between the hours of 4 and 4:15 p.m. from the Swede Club located at 10 Riverview Avenue. The keys were in the ignition. The Mule was described as being green and black with the words Kawasaki Mule written on the sides. The vehicle was valued at $10,000. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Dawn Taylor at 860-399-2100. All calls will be treated confidentially.

• A motor vehicle theft was investigated on Sunset Avenue at 7:50 a.m. Between 11 p.m. on July 19 and 7:50 a.m. on July 20, a motor vehicle was taken without permission from the residence. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Chester Resident Trooper’s Office at 860-526-3605.
