Police Incident Report for June 16 to 22


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, June 16

No arrests were made.

• A resident of 749 Peddlers Road reported at 4:01 a.m. that an unknown vehicle struck his or her mailbox and fled the scene.

• An animal nuisance was reported at 43 Log Hill Farms at 7:35 a.m. The caller reported that a squirrel was caught between a window and the screen.

• A theft was investigated at 1310 Boston Post Road at 11:59 a.m. A package was taken out of the mailbox, cut open, and the contents taken.

• A theft was investigated involving a resident of 255 Boston Post Road at 4:02 p.m. Money was taken from a purse the complainant had left in the Market Place bathroom.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 3600 block of Durham Road at 6:24 p.m.

• An animal nuisance was investigated on the 3000 block of Durham Road at 8:14 p.m. A complainant reported that a dog was barking outside for hours and that no one was home at the house. The area was quiet when police arrived and they found no dog outside.

Friday, June 17

• A 22 year-old man of Durham Road was arrested at 8:12 a.m. and charged with threatening in the second degree, assault in the third degree, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief in the third degree, and illegal possession of narcotics (second time arrested for this offense).

• A complaint about a fraud attempt was investigated at 1472 West Street at 4:34 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Lone Pine Trail at 10:18 p.m. The complainant was harassed by a neighbor while dropping off a child.

Saturday, June 18

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on Jacobs Lane at 12:23 a.m. An ex-boyfriend was allegedly harassing an ex-girlfriend via phone and the accused was possibly outside the complainant’s house.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 3208 Durham Road at 2:44 a.m. The complainant heard a thud and then found that the vehicle parked in the driveway was damaged.

• A report of roaming donkeys was investigated on the 200 block of County Road at 6:24 a.m. The owners of the animals responded and took the donkeys home.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 165 Cooks Lane at 7:30 a.m. Documents in the mailbox were ripped up and thrown on the ground.

• Neighbor trouble involving dirt bikes being driven on Eversource property was investigated on Jamestown Drive at 8:25 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 590 West Street at 8:55 a.m. A rock was thrown through the windshield of a parked and unoccupied vehicle.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1615 Great Hill Road at 9:07 a.m. A rock was thrown through a windshield during the overnight hours.

• A reported of two raccoons stumbling in circles was investigated at 281 Meredith Meadow Road at 9:29 a.m.

• Criminal mischief involving a smashed window was investigated at 584 County Road at 11:17 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 906 West Street at 4:25 p.m. Vehicles were damaged during the overnight hours.

Sunday, June 19

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about credit card fraud was investigated at 51 Mohawk Trail at 6:42 a.m.

• A domestic dispute involving a young male was investigated at Wauwinet Circle at 7:54 p.m.

Monday, June 20

No arrests were made

• An animal nuisance involving a cow was reported a 3200 Durham Road at 7:27 a.m.

• A complaint about harassment involving text messages was investigated on Broad Hill Circle at 12:01 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud involving identity theft and a false IRS filing was investigated at 35 Davis Drive at 1:27 p.m.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 100 block of Old Whitfield Street at 8:48 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Moose Hill Road at 10:26 p.m. The complainant was receiving harassing texts from her ex-husband but did not want officers to come to the house due to children present.

Tuesday, June 21

No arrests were made.

• An animal nuisance was reported at 90 North Mill Circle at 9:53 a.m. A turtle was hit by a car.

• A complaint about a tied up dog barking since 9 p.m. on Faulkner Drive was investigated at 10:52 p.m.

Wednesday, June 22

No arrests were made.

• Ongoing neighbor trouble was investigated on Jamestown Drive at 4:04 p.m.

• The report of a possible attempted abduction was investigated at 4 Davis Drive at 4:45 p.m. According to witnesses and concerned neighbors a man operating an older Ford SUV (that was either green or brown in color with a black or green rear bumper sticker) stopped to speak with a young child playing in the driveway near the street. The man then drove off—turning right onto upper Horseshoe Road—as the mother approached. The man reportedly asked the child if his mother was around. The fact that he drove off without checking with an adult appeared suspicious.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 16 Market Place at 6:29 p.m. A house was egged.

• An untimely death was investigated 102 Clapboard Hill Road at 6:57 p.m.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 300 block of Old Whitfield Street at 8:33 p.m. The complainant reported that a male from upstairs was harassing her and that he was using the back stairs in violation of an order from the Guilford Police Department.

During the week of June 16 to 22 Guilford Police received 171 calls for service. Police made one arrest, investigated 30 motor vehicle accidents, and issued seven citations, 109 written warnings, two verbal warnings, and one parking tag. Police also responded to seven false burglar alarms. A total of 379 incidents were handled by police.
