Police Incident Report for May 25 to 31


The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Westbrook

Wednesday, May 18 to Thursday, May 19

No arrests were made.

Friday, May 20

• A 52 year-old South Windsor man was arrested at 12:49 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and failure to grant right of way. He was processed and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond.

• A 67 year-old Guilford woman was arrested at 8:01 a.m. on a warrant charging her with violation of probation/conditional discharge. She was processed and held on a $100,000 surety bond pending court arraignment.

Saturday, May 21

No arrests were made.

• A 33 year-old New London man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:53 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to carry proof of insurance following a motor vehicle stop.

Sunday, May 22

• A 38 year-old man of Brattleboro, Vermont was arrested at 5:23 p.m. on a warrant charging him with violation of conditions of release/conditional discharge. He was processed and held on a surety $25,000 bond pending court arraignment on June 6.

• A 24 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 9:22 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and speeding at more than 70 miles per hour on Route 145.

• At 2:39 p.m. Trooper Mark Wyzykowski reported that a 70 year-old Cromwell woman was operating a Lexus RX 350 southbound on Seaside Avenue when she fell asleep and drove over the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a wood fence and two large trees in front of 59 Seaside Avenue. She refused medical attention at the scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to front end damage.

Monday, May 23

• A 19 year-old woman of Greenwich, Rhode Island was issued a written warning at 5:59 p.m. for unsafe backing after the 2006 Lexus RX400 she was operating struck a 2015 Audi Q5 while she was backing up from a parking stall.

Tuesday, May 24

No arrests were made.

Wednesday, May 25

No arrests were made.

• A 17 year-old boy of Dennison Road was issued a citation at 6:25 p.m. for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart after the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe he was operating northbound on Essex Road struck the rear of a 2008 Infinity G35 AWD operated by a 55 year-old Mystic woman. Both operators were transported to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Thursday, May 26 to Saturday, May 28

Sunday, May 29

• A 22 year-old Milford woman was arrested at 12:05 p.m. and charged with breach of peace and threatening following a disturbance at Denny’s restaurant. The manager of the store reported that an employee had quit around 10:30 a.m. over a mistake made on a guest check. An hour later a female came into Denny’s and started yelling and threatening the manager over the firing of her sister. The female was seen leaving the Denny’s parking in a vehicle that police determined was registered to a Milford woman. The accused turned herself over the police a short while later. She was processed and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and issued a June 17 court date in Middletown Superior Court.

• A criminal mischief/theft incident was investigated at Tanger Outlet located at 314 Flat Rock Place. The owner of a 2001 Nissan Altima reported that a rear window of the vehicle was had been smashed and the spare tire taken from the trunk. No other items were missing and no other vehicles were affected. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Donald Dunning at 860-399-2100.

• A 29 year-old man of Boston Post Road was arrested at 3:17 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat

Thursday, May 19

• A 61 year-old man of Fox Hill Road was arrested at 2:23 p.m. and charged with interfering with a police officer, reckless endangerment in the first degree, threatening in the first degree, and disorderly conduct. He was processed on a $50,000 surety bond.

• A 52 year-old man of Boston Post Road was arrested at 6:38 p.m. and charged with violation of probation on the strength of a warrant. He was held on a $3,500 surety bond he could not post pending presentation in court on May 20.

Friday, May 20

• A 20 year-old man of Church Street was arrested at 10:17 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to obey a stop sign.

• A 29 year-old Branford man was issued a citation at 4:04 p.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A 32 year-old New London man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:41 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and traveling unreasonably fast following a motor vehicle stop on Main Street.

Monday, May 23

• A 57 year-old woman of Waltham, Massachusetts was arrested at 8:33 p.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree. She was processed and held on a $25,000 surety bond that she would not post.

• A 30 year-old man of Hill Court was issued a citation at 3:36 p.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

Tuesday, May 24

• A 25 year-old Groton man was arrested at 6:28 p.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, larceny in the third degree, larceny in the fourth degree, and possession of narcotics on the strength of a warrant held by the Old Saybrook Department of Police Services.

• A 38 year-old man and a 40 year-old man, both of Norwich, were issued citations at 12:08 p.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana following an investigation on Route 1 at Elm Street.

• A 24 year-old Manchester man was issued a citation at 5:22 p.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana following an investigation on Sunrise Avenue.

Wednesday, May 25

• A 49 year-old Westbrook man was arrested at 6:39 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to obey an overhead traffic signal.

• An 18 year-old Clinton man was man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:07 p.m. for reckless driving following a motor vehicle stop at Harvey’s Beach.

• A 54 year-old woman of Town Beach Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:11 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway following a motor vehicle stop on Maple Avenue at Main Street.

• A 54 year-old Essex man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 8:21 p.m. for reckless driving on Essex Road near Ayers Point Road.

Friday, May 27

• A 25 year-old Waterford man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:05 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and traveling unreasonably fast following a motor vehicle stop on Elm Street at the CL&P substation.

Saturday, May 28

• A 43 year-old Burlington woman was arrested at 1:56 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• A 47 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 7:52 p.m. and charged with breach of peace.

• A 26 year-old Bridgeport man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 2:27 a.m. for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while under license suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and violation of proper number of headlights following a motor vehicle stop on Main Street near Maynard Road.

• A 40 year-old Ledyard man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 6:18 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident).

• A 62 year-old Old Lyme man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:13 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and unsafe backing on Main Street at the Penny Lane Pub.

• A 57 year-old Ivoryton man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 4:53 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license and traveling unreasonably fast following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road near Stage Road.

• a 48 year-old Waterford man was issued a citation at 12:57 p.m. for simple trespass on Boston Post Road.

Tuesday, May 31

• A 33 year-old Madison man was arrested at 9 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree on a warrant held by the Old Saybrook Police Department.

• A complaint about threatening was investigated on Killingworth Turnpike at 10:42 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated on Pearl Street at 11:24 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Riverside Drive at 5:11 p.m.

• A 27 year-old man of Killingworth Turnpike was issued a misdemeanor summons at 3:55 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, improper use of marker plate, and failure to renew registration following a motor vehicle stop on Glenwood Road.

• An untimely death was investigated on West Shore Drive at 8:24 p.m.

• A structure fire was reported on Old Mill Road at 9:26 p.m.

• A 33 year-old Westbrook woman was arrested at 1:30 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to have tail lamps or marker lights, and failure to display plates following a motor vehicle stop on East Main Street at Old Post Road.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Nod Road at 7:31 a.m.

• An assault was investigated on Layayette Green Road at 8:36 p.m.

• A reported of shots fired was investigated on Ironworks Road at 9:36 p.m.

Sunday, May 29

• A 39 year-old woman of Buell Court was arrested at 9:43 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree following a domestic dispute. In the same incident a 37 year-old man was charged with disorderly conduct.

• A 36 year-old man of West Main Street was arrested at 11:03 p.m. and charged with interfering with an officer and breach of peace in the second degree following the report of an intoxicated person on West Main Street.

• A 47 year-old New London man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:54 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart following a motor vehicle crash without injuries on Killingworth Turnpike.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Valley Road at 6:43 p.m.

• Threatening was investigated on Chittenden Hill Road at 7:03 p.m.

• A noise complaint was investigated on Killingworth Turnpike at 10:50 p.m.

Monday, May 30

• A 41 year-old man of Fairy Dell Road was arrested at 12:24 and charged criminal violation of a protective order.

• A 39 year-old woman of Buell Court was arrested at 5:34 p.m. and charged with violation of conditions of release.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Killingworth Turnpike at 5:57 p.m.
