Police Incident Report for April 14 to 27


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, April 14

• A 42 year-old Clinton man was arrested at 10:39 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree, violation of a protective order, risk of injury to a minor, stalking in the first degree, and harassment in the second degree.

• A landlord/tenant dispute was investigated on Russet Drive at 8:47 p.m. Locks were changed without permission.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 934 Boston Post Road at 10:27 a.m. Two men, who drove to the store, attempted to open cell phone plans at the AT&T store but here denied due to expired driver’s licenses.

• A complaint about fraud involving a Chase credit card was investigated at 51 George Street at 1:26 p.m.

• A complaint about a drunk male sitting across from the Mobile Station at 1200 Boston Post Road was investigated at 5:17 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 254 Tanner Marsh Road at 8:32 p.m.

Friday, April 15

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Church Street at 8:45 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 381 Boston Post Road at 9:04 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud involving a hacked bank account was investigated at 152 Denison Drive at 10:16 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 2279 Boston Post Road at 4:03 p.m.

• Criminal trespass was investigated at 195 County Road at 8:23 p.m.

Saturday, April 16

No arrests were made.

• A noise complaint was investigated on the 2400 block of Boston Post Road at 2:21 p.m. The complainant reported that a neighbor was driving by and playing loud music.

• A noise complaint was investigated on Weatherly Trail at 6:35 a.m. A neighbor was cutting down trees very early in the morning.

• A complaint about a barking dog was investigated on Water Lily Lane at 3:28 p.m.

Sunday, April 17

No arrests were made.

• Criminal trespass was investigated at 570 Tanner Marsh Road at 9:53 a.m. Several people were reportedly on the property.

Monday, April 18

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, April 19

No arrests were made.

• Vandalism to the new curbing at the Guilford High School was investigated at 8:15 a.m.

• A complaint about fraud involving the internet was investigated at 25 Spencer Avenue at 10:30 a.m. A computer was hacked.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated on Russet Drive at 11:12 a.m. A landlord was reportedly yelling at a tenant.

• A theft was investigated at Guilford High School at 12:34 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 18 Jefferson Drive at 1:29 p.m. A mailbox was smashed during the overnight hours.

Wednesday, April 20

No arrests were made.

Thursday, April 21

• A 50 year-old man was arrested at 1:50 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A 31 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 9:39 p.m. and charged with public indecency, breach of peace in the second degree, risk of injury to a minor, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Munger Road at 12:12 p.m. The son was allegedly unplugging the phone and television and taking money.

• A complaint about fraud involving fake checks arriving in the mail was investigated at 441 State Street at 2:27 p.m.

Friday, April 22

• A 57 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 5:12 p.m. and charged with violation of a protective order.

• A hypodermic needle was found in the parking lot of Xtra Mart, 1675 Boston Post Road, at 3:33 p.m.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, at 11:29 a.m.

Saturday, April 23

• A 53 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 5:35 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 747 Old Pent Road at 9:23 a.m. A mailbox was smashed.

• Breach of peace was investigated at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road at 2:17 p.m. Men were fighting at a basketball game.

Sunday, April 24

• A 69 year-old man of Laurel Brook Drive was arrested at 12:37 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree under the Domestic Violence Act.

Monday, April 25

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 787 Long Hill Road at 7:31 a.m.

• A burglary was investigated at 201 Granite Road at 8:28 a.m.

Tuesday, April 26

• A 48 year-old man of Moose Hill Road was arrested at 9:39 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The accused was stopped following a domestic dispute incident.

Wednesday, April 27

No arrests were made.

From April 14 to 27, Guilford Police received 314 calls for service. Police made seven arrests, investigated 24 motor vehicle accidents, and issued 27 citations, 277 written warnings, five verbal warnings, and three parking tag. Police also responded to 20 false burglar alarms. A total of 774 incidents were handled by police.
