Police Incident Report for April 13 to 19


The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Clinton

Saturday, April 9

No arrests were made.

Sunday, April 10

• A 31 year-old Chester man was arrested at 12:34 p.m. on a warrant charging him with burglary in the third degree, stealing a firearm, larceny in the fifth degree, and criminal mischief in the third degree.

Monday, April 11

• A 50 year-old woman of Pearl Street was arrested at 11:27 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to obey a control signal, traveling unreasonably fast, disobeying the signal of an officer, and use or possess of drug paraphernalia.

Tuesday, April 12

• A 21 year-old Westbrook man was arrested at 12:46 a.m. on a warrant charging him with interfering with an officer, improper use of registration plates, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

• A 43 year-old man of Circle Drive was arrested at 8:17 a.m. and charged with breach of peace following a dispute on Killingworth Turnpike.

• A 19 year-old man of West Shore Drive was arrested at 10:42 a.m. on a warrant charging him with evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, traveling unreasonably fast, and failure to carry proof of insurance.

• An 18 year-old Madison man was arrested at 8:32 p.m. and charged with misrepresentation of age to produce liquor, illegally obtaining alcoholic beverage as a minor, and possession of alcohol underage following an investigation on Ironworks Road.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Killingworth Turnpike on 10:04 a.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Airline Road at 11:40 a.m.

Wednesday, April 13

• A 31 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 10:28 a.m. on a warrant charging him with larceny in the fifth degree.

• A complaint about animals was investigated on Carriage Drive at 12:11 p.m.

• Harassment was investigated on Stanton Road at 10:09 p.m.

Thursday, April 14

No arrests were made.

Friday, April 15

No arrests were made.

• A 19 year-old Westbrook man was issued a citation at 11:48 p.m. for use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than ½ ounce of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on West Main Street.

• A theft was investigated on Liberty Place at 12:05 p.m.

• A theft was investigated on Hurd Bridge Road at 12:11 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Hurd Bridge Road at 3:54 p.m.

Saturday, April 16

• A 40 year-old man of Old Post Road was arrested at 12:22 p.m. and charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to obey a stop sign following a motor vehicle crash without injuries on West Main Street.

• Harassment was investigated on Airline Road at 12:19 p.m.

Sunday, April 17

No arrests were made.

• A noise complaint was investigated on Riverside Drive at 4:16 p.m.

Monday, April 18

• A 31 year-old man of West Main Street was arrested at 9:59 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct after a complaint was made to police about an intoxicated man. While in custody the man was arrested on outstanding warrants charging him with failure to appear in the first degree and failure to appear in the second degree.

Tuesday, April 19

• A 54 year-old Westbrook woman was arrested at 1:13 p.m. and charged with breach of peace following the report of an assault on Glenwood Road.

• A 32 year-old woman of Sunnybrook Lane was arrested at 5:04 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass in the second degree following a dispute on Meadowview Estates Road.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Delwood Avenue at 1:59 p.m.

Westbrook

Saturday, April 9

• A 48 year-old man of Quincy, Massachusetts was arrested at 4:17 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and drinking while operating a motor vehicle.


Sunday, April 10 to Monday, April 11

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, April 12

• A 24 year-old Meriden man was arrested at 1:34 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree.

Wednesday, April 13

No arrests were made.

Thursday, April 14

• A 21 year-old Deep River man was arrested at 7:43 p.m. and charged with interfering with an officer, passing in a no passing zone,

• A 32 year-old Middletown man was arrested at 10:06 a.m. on warrants charging him with two counts of failure to appear in the second degree. He was processed on a combined $12,500 surety bond.

• A 24 year-old Old Lyme man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:38 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension and failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart.

Friday, April 15

No arrests were made.

Saturday, April 16

• A 56 year-old Chester woman was arrested at 2:37 p.m. on a warrant charging her with failure to pay of plead a citation.

Sunday, April 17

• A 40 year-old man of Kirtland Street was arrested at 10:50 a.m. and charged with violation of probation/conditional discharge. He was processed and released without incident and issued a May 8 court date in Middletown Superior Court.

Monday, April 18

No arrests were made.

• A 19 year-old man of Pepperidge Avenue was issued a citation at 8:25 p.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart after the 2001 Infinity i30 he was operating eastbound on Boston Post Road struck the rear of a 2011 Mercury 3550 operated by a 63 year-old man of Old Salt Works Road. No injuries were reported or observed. The Mercury was towed from the scene by Oceanside Towing and the Infinity was driven from the scene.

Tuesday, April 19

No arrests were made.

• A 21 year-old New London man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 7:35 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension

• A 65 year-old woman of Dix Hills, New York was issued a written warning at 4:18 p.m. for failure to drive right. She fell asleep while operating a 2009 Acura northbound on Route 153 (Essex Road), drifted off the travel lane, crossed the southbound lane, and struck a tree located off the left shoulder. No injuries were reported or observed. The vehicle as towed by Mal’s Auto.

Old Saybrook

Saturday, April 9

No arrests were made.

• A 17 year-old was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:05 p.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident) and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

Sunday, April 10

No arrests were made.

Monday, April 11

• A 30 year-old Oakdale man was arrested at 1:39 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and possession of marijuana.

• A 36 year-old man of Ingham Hill Road was arrested at 8:41 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act.

Tuesday, April 12

• A 44 year-old woman of Drummers Trail was arrested at 5:23 a.m. and charged with assault in the third degree and disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act.

Wednesday, April 13

• A 17 year-old was arrested at 10:54 a.m. and charged with possession of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing marijuana.

Thursday, April 14

No arrests were made.

• A 23 year-old Niantic woman was issued a citation at 12:40 a.m. for possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Donnelly Road.

Friday, April 15

• A 38 year-old woman of Connally Drive was arrested at 11 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Saturday, April 16

No arrests were made.

• A 16 year-old was issued a citation at 3:38 a.m. for traveling unreasonably fast and violation of restriction of the transportation of passengers by holders of a motor vehicle operator’s license who are 16 or 17 year of age following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at the railroad bridge.

Sunday, April 17

No arrests were made.

Monday, April 18

• A 55 year-old Westbrook woman was arrested at 9:47 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and traveling unreasonably fast following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Route 166.

• A 29 year-old Norwich man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:26 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license suspension, failure to obey a traffic signal, and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at River Street.

Tuesday, April 19

• A 28 year-old woman of Elm Street was arrested at 6:52 p.m. on a warrant charging her with violation of probation/conditional discharge. She was processed and released after posting a $5,000 surety bond and issued a May 3 court date in Middletown Superior Court.

• A 73 year-old man of Bokum Road was issued a citation at 11:26 a.m. for creating a public disturbance. The accused has a long history of citations, arrests, and convictions for dangerous behavior including threatening people with a gun.

• A 34 year-old man of Beach Road was issued a citation at 9:03 p.m. for possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia following an investigation on Boston Post Road.

From March 30 to April 12, Old Saybrook police issued 11 citations to motorists for using a hand-held cell phone while driving, five citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, four citations for traveling unreasonably fast, one citation for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, and one citation for failure to obey the signal of an officer.

From April 13 to 19 Old Saybrook police issued 13 citations to motorists for using a hand-held cell phone while driving, ad two citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle. One citation was issued for each of the following: traveling unreasonably fast, failure to renew registration, failure to obey a stop sign, and passing on the right.
