Police Incident Report for March 31 to April 6


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, March 31

No arrests were made.

• A theft was investigated at 556 Boston Post Road at 12:30 p.m.

• An animal nuisance was reported at 57 White Birch Drive at 12:30 p.m.

• Medical assistance was dispatched to 30 Durham Road at 9:50 p.m. A bicycling fell and received a head injury.

Friday, April 1

• A 40 year-old Middletown man was arrested at 8:31 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A complaint about forged checks was investigated at 67 Golden Hill Drive at 10:53 a.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Fair Street at 12:43 p.m.

• A complaint about credit card fraud was investigated at 1485 Long Hill Road at 4:06 p.m.

• Neighbor trouble was investigated on the 400 block of Leetes Island Road at 4:29 p.m.

Saturday, April 2

• A 22 year-old Madison man was arrested at 5:14 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Middle Road at 10:26 p.m. There was an issue with an ex-wife's boyfriend.

• A complaint about fraud over the phone was investigated at 281 South Union Street at 12:40 p.m.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated at 173 Denison Drive at 5:14 p.m.

Sunday, April 3

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud/flim flam was investigated at 1250 Boston Post Road at 8:55 p.m.

• An automobile theft was investigated at 168 South Hoop Pole Road at 5 p.m.

Monday, April 4

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about cruelty to animals was investigated on Sam Hill Road at 6:05 a.m. The complainant was concerned about the neighbor's cat left out overnight.

• A theft of items from a motor vehicle was investigated at 1445 Boston Post Road at 8:58 a.m.

Tuesday, April 5

No arrests were made.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 100 block of North Madison Road at 8:58 a.m. The complainant reported emails from her husband and missing money from a bank account.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 303 North River Street at 7:10 p.m. A $1,000 Nordstrom gift card was fraudulently used out of state.

• An animal nuisance was reported at 250 Mulberry Point Road at 7:17 p.m. An injured red fox was in the roadway at Chaffinch Island Road.

Wednesday, April 6

No arrests were made.

• A tenant dispute was investigated at 5237 Durham Road at 9:19 p.m. The property manager had an issue with a tenant who was moving in.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 144 Quonnipaug Lane at 11:09 a.m.

During the week of March 24 to April 6 Guilford Police received 165 calls for service. Police made two arrests, investigated five motor vehicle accidents, and issued 12 citations, 131 written warnings, nine verbal warnings, and one parking tag. Police also responded to 14 false burglar alarms. A total of 387 incidents were handled by police.
