Guilford Police Incident Report for June 27 to July 1


Saturday, June 27

No arrests were made.

• A shoplifting incident was reported at 900 Boston Post Road, Walmart, at 10:41 a.m. The accused was a Hispanic male who fled in a tan Mercury Sable.

• A squirrel was trapped in a basement at 895 Maple Hill Road at 2:51 p.m. A window was left open and the squirrel left on its own. The resident was advised to call a wild life removal vendor to prevent further problems.

• Reckless operation of a jet ski was reported on the West River at 6:41 p.m.

• A report of people yelling and screaming at each other in a driveway was investigated on Church Street at 10:38 p.m.

Sunday, June 28

• A 21 year-old woman of Cindy Lane was arrested at 5:55 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree.

• A 24 year-old New Haven man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:21 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license and registration suspension and failure to have lights lit or devices illuminated.

• At 6:09 p.m. an anonymous caller reported that a cow was stuck in a fence near the roadway. When police arrived no cows were in the area.

Monday, June 29

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, June 30

No arrests were made.

• A civil investigation was conducted at 12:31 p.m. at 37 Boston Street. The owner of a painting reported that an oil painting was never returned by Fischer Art Gallery. This is an ongoing case.

Wednesday, July 1

• A 42 year-old man of Landons Way was arrested at 9:44 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

• A fraud complaint was investigated by a Long Hill Road resident. An elderly woman was picked up by taxi to meet a person on the green from Jamaica who was supposed to give the elderly woman winnings.

• An animal nuisance was reported at 20 Church Street at 3:22 p.m. An all yellow snake was found in the parking lot of Perk on Church. The snake was identified as a species that belongs in the area. People were instructed to leave the snake alone.

During the week of June 25 to July 1 Guilford Police received 164 calls for service. Police made four arrests, investigated 27 motor vehicle accidents, and issued 11 citations, 22 written warnings, one verbal warning, and two parking tags. Police also responded to six false burglar alarms. A total of 274 incidents were handled by police.
