Guilford Police Incident Report for May 4 to 6


Monday, May 4

No arrests were made.

• An animal nuisance involving a horse was reported at 3080 Durham Road at 8:59 a.m. The horse was returned to the owner's back yard and continued grazing.

• A fraud complaint involving a collection agency claiming to be from Comcast was investigated at 37 Orcutt Drive at 3:09 p.m.

• A turtle was reported in the roadway in front of 400 Water Street at 5:54 p.m. The turtle was gone when police arrived.

• A report of harassing phone calls from an ex-boyfriend was investigated at 84 Jacobs Lane at 7:19 p.m.

Tuesday, May 5

• A 42 year-old woman of Cindy Lane was arrested at 9:48 p.m. on a warrant charging him with three counts of failure to appear in the second degree.

• A complainant at 30 Barker Hill Drive reported hearing gunshots coming from West Woods. The sound was from officers conducting target practice at the nearby police range.

Wednesday, May 6

• A 55 year-old Branford woman was arrested at 4:52 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to carry registration or proof of insurance.

• A deer was stuck by a vehicle in front of 4300 Durham Road at 6:02 a.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on the 500 block of Clapboard Hill Road at 10:20 a.m. Someone damaged a trail information board.

• Criminal mischief was investigated on Sunset Creek at 11:18 a.m. Trees were cut down and salt was placed around another three on Guilford Land Conservation Trust property.

During the week of April 30 to May 6 Guilford Police received 200 calls for service. Police made six arrests, investigated 23 motor vehicle accidents, and issued 12 citations, 49 written warnings, three verbal warnings, and 16 parking tags. Police also responded to nine false burglar alarms. A total of 337 incidents were handled by police.
