Guilford Police Incident Report for April 20 to 22


Monday, April 20

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about identity fraud involving a false IRS filing was investigated at 372 White Birch Drive at 2:15 p.m.

Tuesday, April 21

• A 26 year-old North Branford woman was arrested at 4:25 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

• A 27 year-old man of Sachems Head Road was arrested at 10:37 p.m. and charged with illegal possession of narcotics, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, improper use of marker plate, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, failure to have insurance, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

• At 2:45 a.m. a caller reported that a man was sleeping in a vehicle parked at 1675 Boston Post Road. Police determined that the man was sleeping before continuing his drive to Newport, Rhode Island.

• A man yelling and screaming at 28 Guilford Court was reported at 7:55 a.m.

• At 10:48 a.m. a caller from 50 Prospect Hill Road reported that "birds [were] making too much noise." The animal control officer investigated.

• A dumping violation was investigated on Long Hill Road at 2:18 p.m. A caller reported that a dumpster was not covered while being transported on the back of a truck and trash was flying out. The truck had license plate CT K52625.

• A complaint about identity fraud involving a false IRS filing was investigated at 36 Barker Hill Drive at 4:34 p.m.

• Suspicious activity was investigated on Laurel Road at 6:16 p.m. A caller reported that a white male wearing sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt was hiding behind trees. The caller reported that the man had been doing this for the past few days.

Wednesday, April 22

No arrests were made.

• A suicide attempt was reported on the 2900 block of Long Hill Road at 2:02 a.m.

• At 10:33 a.m. caller on Hidden Lane reported that a small blue & white helicopter was flying low, heading east. Police could not locate said helicopter.

• At 11:01 a.m. a caller at 2581 Boston Post Road reported that a black snake was crawling up a wall. The animal control officer responded and removed the snake, letting it go into the woods. The officer reported that the snake was a Black Racer.

• At 12:25 p.m. a complainant at 144 Sperry Drive reported that a raccoon was found in a motor home parked on the property. The animal control officer was unable to locate the mother raccoon but the baby was taken to a rehabilitator.

• An intoxicated person needing help was reported on Whitfield Street at 6:06 p.m.

• At 10:13 p.m. a caller from 677 Goose Lane reported that a sedan took a corner too wide and struck his mailbox. The vehicle continued northbound on Goose Lane without stopping. The driver is wanted for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident in which there was property damage).

During the week of April 16 to 22 Guilford Police received 156 calls for service. Police made three arrests, investigated 13 motor vehicle accidents, and issued seven citations, 37 written warnings, no verbal warnings, and no parking tags. Police also responded to 11 false burglar alarms. A total of 249 incidents were handled by police.
