Police Incident Report for Jan. 29 to Feb. 1


The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Westbrook

Wednesday Jan. 29

No arrests were made.

• A 31 year-old Clinton man was issued a citation at 7:08 a.m. for traveling too fast for conditions after the 1998 Acura he was operating eastbound on Old Clinton Road slid on snow at a curve and struck a fence and tree located off the westbound lane. The vehicle sustained moderate front end damage.

• Police reported that between 4 p.m. on January 27th and 10:30 a.m. on January 29th unknown suspect(s) stole a 2000 Buick LeSabre from the parking lot of Westside Auto located at 622 Boston Post Road. There were no keys in the vehicle. The case was still under investigation at press time.

Thursday, Jan. 30 - Friday, Jan. 31

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

Saturday, Feb. 1

• A 30 year-old Hartford woman was arrested at 5:52 p.m. and charged with larceny in the second degree (via shoplifting), manufacture or possession of burglar’s tools, interfering with an officer (non-assaultive), and conspiracy to commit larceny. In the same incident a 22 year-old Hartford woman was charged with larceny in the second degree, interfering with an officer (non-assaultive), and conspiracy to commit larceny. The pair was arrested after police respond to a complaint of suspicious individuals possibly shoplifting at the Children’s Place store located at the Tanger Outlets, 314 Flat Rock Place.

The vehicle the suspects were driving was stopped by police as it was exiting the store parking lot. The driver then engaged police in pursuit. The vehicle was later located behind a restaurant on Route One in Guilford. A subsequent search of the area led to the arrest of the two women. Each woman was held at York Correctional Facility in Niantic on a $50,000 surety bond pending a February 3rd court date.

• A 33 year-old Old Saybrook woman was arrested at 12:30 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs (second offense for this crime). She was observed operating her vehicle erratically and stopped. She failed a standardized field sobriety test.

• A 26 year-old Milford man was issued a citation at 1:45 a.m. for failure to drive right and failure to carry insurance information after he lost control of the 2010 Ford Focus he was operating on Seaside Avenue nearest residence #173 and struck a wire rope guard rail. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
