You would be hard-pressed to find someone who is more passionate about Guilford High School sports than Jeff Falcone. Jeff is not only a manager for the wrestling team, he’s also an big-time fan of all the Indians’ teams.

Jeff, a junior, grew up playing baseball in Guilford’s Little League program and then competed for the wrestling team at Adams Middle School. When he started high school, Jeff joined the wrestling program as a manager, and he’s been lending a hand to the squad ever since.

Head Coach Craig Vedrani says that Jeff relishes his role in the program and takes the utmost pride in everything he does to assist the Indians; he adds that Jeff’s love for Guilford sports goes way beyond the wrestling mat.

“Jeff is the No. 1 sports fan here at Guilford High School (GHS). He doesn’t miss any home games and has tons of school spirit, always trying to fire up the GHS fans,” says Vedrani. “He is always dressed in school apparel and leading cheers for all the competitors. He also travels to away competitions, and his energy and enthusiasm are infectious amongst the student body.”

While Jeff likes helping out the audio and video crews at Guilford’s wrestling meets, he also enjoys supporting the Indians’ other teams. Jeff loves displaying his passion for the green and white by attending Guilford’s games and cheering on his fellow students.

“It makes me feel great when I watch the athletes play,” Jeff says. “When I’m not doing sports, I like to watch the teams play, because I am supporting my friends.”

Jeff, who also participates in Guilford’s Unified Sports program, has seen his fair share of titles and triumphs among the Indians’ teams at the high school. Jeff thoroughly enjoyed the recent string of success from the Guilford boys’ ice hockey squad, as well as the landmark campaign put forth this year by the boys’ basketball team this winter.

“We’ve been really good in soccer, basketball, and hockey,” says Jeff. “It was really good when the hockey team won the state title last year. It was great when the boys’ basketball team beat Hand this year and also when the boys’ hockey team won SCCs last season and this season.”

Coach Vedrani praises Jeff for how he hard he works as a manager for the wrestling team, along with his kind-hearted spirit and attitude toward life in general. Vedrani feels that people like Jeff help keep the heartbeat of Guilford sports pumping.

“Jeff helps with the wrestling team, assisting with video during meets or playing music at practices,” Vedrani says. “Jeff is one of the most likeable people you could meet and is a valuable asset to our school.”

Jeff has his sights on attending college after he graduates from high school. In terms of his potential profession, Jeff wants to take what he’s learned from his experience in the Guilford sports world and put it to good use by continuing to help out teams in any way he can.

“I am planning to go to college. I want to go to Clemson, so I have to get good grades,” says Jeff. “I want to become a sports team manager when I am older.”
