The Morgan boys’ soccer team has displayed a dominant defensive front throughout the 2017 season, and much of the Huskies’ stinginess stems from the solid play of Trevor Follo.

Trevor, a senior outside defender, has been playing soccer since age six, and he’s also a member of Morgan’s wrestling squad. This fall, Trevor and the Huskies’ boys’ soccer team have qualified for the Class S State Tournament with their record of 6-2-1, and they’ve only allowed eight total goals, while posting four shutouts along the way.

“We’ve been working hard on the field and in practice,” says Trevor. “We’ve also been very good with communicating on the field and working together as a team.”

One thing Trevor likes about soccer is how it often takes a cohesive effort from multiple people who play different positions on the pitch to score a goal. When it’s his turn with the ball, Trevor is constantly conscious of the right spot to place it in order for his club to put one past the opposing goalkeeper.

“My favorite type of goal is when the outside midfielder dribbles up the line and gets a cross pass to one of the attackers, and then they either score on a header or with their feet,” Trevor says. “I first look for the open guys when I have the ball, and then I look up and see if I have space to shoot. I either then take the shot or find a teammate with a better look.”

Trevor has gone through quite a growth spurt during his time at Morgan, while also growing into a stronger athlete mentally. Trevor has discovered that communication is key, and that’s something he does effectively with his fellow Huskies.

“I grew a lot. I was smaller my freshman year, but I’m bigger and faster now,” he says. “My chemistry with my teammates has also improved, too. I’m better at talking with them on the field.”

Huskies’ Head Coach Ross Demay says that Trevor excels wherever he goes on the field as a result of his pinpoint focus and unwavering intensity.

“He is a very determined player who is in his second year of starting, but will be earning his fourth varsity letter this year,” says Demay. “He is very versatile, playing well in virtually anywhere I have put him. He is a very smart player who is on the quiet side, but is the most consistent player on the field. He leads by example, is always in the game, and on task.”

While playing an instrumental role in building the Huskies’ future, Trevor also wants to cap off his last season at Morgan with a conference crown. In these final few weeks, Trevor is looking forward to giving back to a team and a sport that’s given him so much when it comes to his development.

“I like being a senior leader, because I like helping the younger players and showing them how we play,” says Trevor who thanks his teammates. “We are aiming for a Shoreline Conference final and title, along with going far in states. Morgan soccer has taught me some good life lessons, like hard work does play off, and, if you work hard in practice, then you’ll play better on the field.”
