North Haven Author Caesar Rondina Writes to Help Others and Show Heroes

During his career, Caesar Rondina says he kept track of two things: how many babies he’s delivered, and how many patients he’s taken care of so far.

“In my career I’ve delivered 13 babies, and I’ve taken care of 76,251 patients,” Caesar says.

In February 2018, Caesar will have been in the public service field for 40 years between working for ambulance services and as a professional firefighter. In addition to helping his community, he uses those experiences to help write his books.

Now working in management for American Medical Response, Caesar says he worked 26 years riding in an ambulance, and has taken care of people in three-quarters of the state. Hearing the diverse stories from those around the state is what inspires and validates him as a writer.

“There’s certain things you can learn in school…but the one thing you can’t learn—two things actually: common sense and experience,” Caesar says.

Caesar says he started writing many years ago, with a lot of his writing then geared toward business articles and medical publications. He even had a top-selling book on management principles and employee relations.

He got out of writing for a while to balance spending time with his kids and working part-time in an ambulance and full-time as a firefighter.

“Now that the kids are all grown and on their own, writing is something I’ve always loved so I started again,” Caesar says.

One of his books released this year is called The Soul in Our Hearts, which is based on true stories and real situations Caesar uses to relate to the concepts of the mind, heart, and soul.

“I’ve gotten comments back through my website where people have said by the end of the first chapter they had to put it down because they’re crying so much,” says Caesar, “It’s a very real book, and if someone is looking to…kind of help sort out their lives, that’s the book that’s going to help them do it.”

Another book that was recently released is Who Are The Heroes.

“So we have personal heroes, and then we have heroes that no one even hears about,” Caesar says, “The one who goes to that little kid’s house who’s got cancer…You never hear about these volunteers.”

The book focuses on the military, law enforcement, first responders, and doctors, among others. Caesar says everything he writes is based on reality, and things that happen in the real world.

“There’s things that happen at two o’clock in the morning that people have no idea about because they’re sleeping, but there is a real world at two o’clock in the morning,” Caesar says.

A book that will come out later this year is Balancing the Scales, which Caesar says is about time, life, and balance. Caesar says it will introduce people to a concept of time they don’t know exists, and says it can help people sort through things in their lives.

Caesar says he’s not afraid to write about his life, and notes that a story about his divorce will be in his book Making Partnership Choices, which will be released in 2018.

“I’m not afraid, in my writings, to tell people about my life—my failures, my shortcomings, and my successes as well,” Caesar says.

That book will be about how to reflect on choices people make in relationships and why they make those choices. Caesar says he put in about 800 hours of research for it, including spending a week in the public court system to see how divorce cases run.

He also says he was fortunate to sit in during sessions with a marriage counselor and his patients to see what was going on. He says the stories about the relationships will be something people can relate to because “every one of us has had them.”

“I don’t know of any person in this world that has not made a bad decision in a relationship,” Caesar says.

Overall, Caesar says writing is something he’s always loved to do, and hopes that he can establish a good reader base of people who enjoy his work.

“That’s truly what I plan to do when I give up my career in EMS, is just spend my time continuing to write,” Caesar says.
