Gary Ciarleglio Brings His Hustle to the QChamber

From football coach to Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce, business development executive Gary Ciarleglio has put his hustle to work.

A new career chapter has opened for Gary Ciarleglio, who has recently joined the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce as the business development executive, and he says he couldn’t be happier.

As a graduate of the University of Rochester, where Gary earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and was an All-American mention and varsity football captain, sports has always played in important part in his life.

Gary’s sports experience allows him to bring an assortment of skills to the Quinnipiac Chamber table. Gary served as recruiter and assistant football coach for Columbia University for 10 years. He also spent a year coaching at La Salle University, as well as two years coaching at a regional high school, prior to moving into sales.

Gary entered into sales, mostly due to career instability.

“Most people don’t realize that more often than not when the head coach leaves, everyone on the team loses their job.”

Deciding he wanted to be more in control of his destiny, Gary went back to his sales roots.

“I started in sales directly after college so jumping back wasn’t difficult,” he says.

Before his current position as business development executive for the Chamber, Gary held sales positions in various companies, including Security Specialists and ADP.

Gary says he’s thrilled to come on board the Chamber and looks forward to connecting with and assisting residents and local business owners in North Haven.

Gary speaks highly of First Selectman Mike Freda and other town officials and business owners with whom he’s spoken so far. He’s looking forward to meeting more residents at the Quinnipiac Chamber’s Centennial Gala on the evening of Friday, June 12 at the Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford.

“It’s a black-tie optional event. The evening will include surf and turf, dinner, dancing, live music and networking, and fun,” he says.

Another fun thing for Gary has been getting to speak about the Chamber to those who are unaware of exactly what the Chamber does. So far, his one nugget of advice for those interested in joining has been, “Once you join, make sure you work our Chamber so that it will work for you!”

The Quinnipiac Chamber is affiliated with the New Haven Chamber of Commerce, but is run independently. Gary lists of some of the Chamber’s services: marketing and promotional services, business after hours events, human resource programs, and government advocacy.

“Our Chamber advocate is always up at the capital fighting for local business,” Gary says.

Though currently fighting for spare time, since his new position keeps him busy, Gary says he likes to play a little golf, watch sports, and birdwatch with his wife, Eileen, who’s an administrator at Hartford Children’s Hospital.
