Teresa Pietraszuk

Teresa Mary Sellwood Pietraszuk, aka “The Old Lady,” 81, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at her home with her sister-in-law Maureen “Mo” Pietraszuk by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Miroslaw “Mugzy” Pietraszuk. Teresa was born in New Haven on March 18, 1943, and was the daughter of the late William and Mary Mayo Sellwood.

She had worked as a receptionist at Weight Watchers for many years and was very proud to be a part of the WW family.

She will be missed by her many Tuscan Villa friends and neighbors where she lived for many years. Her sister-in-law, Mo Pietraszuk, was by Teresa’s side through thick and thin, especially caring for her as she became ill and was with her until the very end. Their bond was strong, and those who knew and loved Teresa are extremely grateful for Mo’s wonderful care and patience with Teresa. Teresa was given the title of “Bitch #1” and held that title proudly up to the end! She will be remembered for her true love of Elvis and the New York Yankees. Teresa was the queen of happy hours and always ready to go anywhere!!

The family would like to extend a special thank you for all the wonderful care she received from Hospice Care and from Don and Heim. Their compassion and care were greatly appreciated, and they will always be fondly remembered. She leaves behind her sons, William Pietraszuk (Fred) and Mark Pietraszuk (Nicole). She was the loving grandmother of Mari and great-grandmother of Gia, sister-in-law of William Pietraszuk (Mo), Stanley Pietraszuk (Krystyna), and John and Lester Pietraszk. She is also survived by her loving cousin Gloria Ford, her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and all her friends. She will especially be missed by her cat, Lucy. They had a very special bond. Teresa loved her so very much!

The visiting hours were on March 28 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A graveside service followed in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405 www.northhavenfuneral.com.
