03/21/2024 08:12 PMCeleste Parente Calabrese, 90, formerly of Randall Drive, North Haven, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, at the Apple Rehab, Old Saybrook. She was the beloved wife of the late Blaze “Peter” Calabrese. Celeste was born in New Haven on Jan. 18, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Jennie Prete Parente.
She worked as a secretary for the Catholic Cemeteries Association at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, for over 25 years until her retirement. Celeste was a former member of the North Haven Senior Center and the St. Frances Cabrini Church Ladies Guild.
She was the mother of Peter B. Calabrese (Martha) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Michael D. Calabrese (Cheryl Sbabo Calabrese); and grandmother of Alyssa Calabrese. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The visiting hours were on March 19 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 57 Pond Hill Road, North Haven. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery.
