Trent Liseo

Trent Jay Liseo, 26, of Guilford, formerly of Hamden, also known as “The Trenster, T, Trentapus, Trentino,” passed away unexpectedly at home in his sleep on Feb. 5, 2024. He was born Feb. 7, 1997, in Burlington, Vermont, to Lawrence Liseo Jr. of Guilford and Ellyn M. McDonald of New Haven.

Trent grew up in Hamden, where he attended school at Dunbar Elementary through Hamden High. Trent enjoyed attending church at Dunbar United Church of Christ. He was attending Gateway Community College, where he loved taking classes to better himself. Trent was an accomplished drummer. Anyone who had the opportunity to work with him musically could see his need to be the best drummer he could be. He would spend hours every day (driving the family crazy) trying to perfect his skills. He was proud of his gigs at the Webster, Toad’s Place, and many other venues, no matter how small or large and no matter what band he was playing for. He worked at Grand Brass Lamp Parts and enjoyed the friends he made there. He loved disc golf with his friends and snowboarding and was looking forward to an upcoming trip to Stratton, Vermont, for his birthday. He was an aficionado of mac and cheese, trinkets, rock and roll, Tool, vinyl records, and the color orange.

Most of all, Trent loved his family. He looked up to his younger sister, Kate Liseo, who always had his back. He enjoyed spending time with his dad, Lawrence, fishing on the Long Island Sound, although the fish seemed to always avoid their lines. He loved his mom, Ellyn, and they spent many nights making homemade ramen and mac and cheese. Recently, they attended a concert in Manhattan that Trent really enjoyed. Trent was funny, silly, kind, and an amazing son, brother, grandson, and friend. He was quirky, his own man, and always strived to be better. He wanted to be “The Dude” and was an ordained “Dudeist Priest” (certificate and all).

He is survived by his sister, Kate Liseo of Guilford; stepsiblings, Abigail and Drew Malton; mother, Ellyn McDonald; father, Lawrence Liseo Jr.; stepmother, Tracy Malton; aunt, Suzie McDermott; uncle, Mike McDermott; cousins, Caroline and Daniel McDermott, “Crazy Auntie” Robin Liseo; and cousin, Cory Liseo of Iva, South Carolina; paternal grandparents, Lawrence Liseo Sr., Kitty Liseo, Cynthia and Len Matejek, all of Tamarac, Florida; and maternal grandmother Margaret McDonald of Waterbury; along with his pet bearded dragon, “Bazoobala.” He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Robert S. McDonald.

Family received friends on Feb. 11 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven. All were invited to meet and attend a funeral service on Feb. 12 in Dunbar United Church of Christ, 767 Benham Street in Hamden, with a burial to follow at Alder Brook Cemetery in Guilford. In honor of Trent’s love of the color, please wear something orange. Donations may be made to Jonathan and Nancy Bishop Fund for Musical Opportunities for Youth, 44 Boston Street, PO Box 35, Guilford, CT 06437, in memory of Trent Liseo.
