Margaret Perrin

Margaret “Peggy” Davis Perrin, 91, passed away peacefully on Jan. 13, 2024. Born on Feb. 20, 1932, to her beloved mother, Julia Palmer Davis, and her father, Benajah L. Davis, she is survived by a loving sister, Shirley Russ of Preston.

She graduated from Stonington High School in 1950, with dear close classmates since kindergarten. Along with beloved Ileana and Wanda, in recent years, she greatly enjoyed class reunions on the fields where she rode horses, Mystic Steak Loft, which is still holding memories from the family barn there. She attended an affiliate of Yale Art School, the Whitney School of Art, where she met and married her husband, Robert L. Perrin, of Putnam. He served with his twin brother Dick in the military and is survived by his wife Claire and their two sons, Frank and Mark Perrin, and family. Peggy lived in Ivoryton, raising four children. She is survived by Patricia, husband Lloyd Franklin, Susan Perrin and Beth, Jayne, and husband Douglas Haynes, and Robert David Perrin, wife, Lenora.

Peggy had a passion for nature, life, and art. She pursued her theater interest in local acting groups, including Essex Country Players and Old Saybrook Playcrafters, and two productions on the Goodspeed stage with her late husband. She performed in a TV special on “History of the Greek Theater” in Waterford. She was a drafter at General Dynamics (EB) in the 1950s and was very proud of the plaque she designed that hangs in the Nautilus Submarine Museum. She worked in drafting at Centerbrook Architects when it was first opened by Charles Moore. Her so lovely and talented friend Alice Lucas, owner and decorator of “Timely Interiors” located in Oliver’s Tavern building in Essex, was one of the highlights of her life. While working there, they created endless memories for others as well. She continued working with Alice, where they made time for song, laughter, and much love for all.

She was a spiritual seeker who devoted much of her life to exploring the connection between spirit, wisdom, and physics. She believed that a better way of life was possible through this integration. Her Saturday morning ritual became deeply entwined with “Aligned with Source,” Zoom meetings with a beloved teacher of life’s journeys, Annaita Gandhy, working toward and visualizing more than world peace with the closeness and wonderful support of her students of life.

She will be remembered by the many various named coffee houses through the years. So amazingly matched were her outfits they brought a smile and to remember to check down to her shoes for color. She was found extending her coffee stay always with book in hand and a kind smile for absolutely everyone, her dear sweet friends she loved so. She adored Gloria and her Vermont vacations to go and stay with Kate and Pat and would laugh until they cried. And too many to mention of extended family and friends and neighbors whom she loved so. Her friends at Harmony House will forever, as all of us, miss her deeply.

Peggy is also survived by two grandsons, Brian and David Metayer. Brian and Julie gave her two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ian; and David’s Natalia. She is also survived by nephews, Randy Russ, son Ryan, wife Denise; and Peter Russ, wife Debbie and Lisa Bucklin, and husband Grafton; and families; and two cousins, “The Famous Joseph Davis” and Chad Davis. She adored all her caregivers who changed her life and brightened her days for many years. Her devoted Alan and Ronald Aluska made her partners in silly and loving times with their family, hearts fulfilled and grateful for their church family support. She delighted with her most “favorite” . . . gourmet meals and undying committed support from Doug. His stoic care and love helped her push through incredibly in many illnesses. In admiration for his work, she helped develop, in working endlessly, a system to help support others stay in their homes and support the purpose of future veterans’ care. Her request — to ask to serve veterans in her memory, and peace be with you.
