Vera M. Pecoraro


Vera M. Pecoraro, 93, of Chester, passed away on Jan. 3, 2024, at the Aaron Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chester. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles J. Pecoraro for 60 years, who predeceased her on Sept. 1, 2011. Vera had been a resident of Chester since 1961. She was born in New Haven on July 20, 1930, and was orphaned at age 7. She was fostered by the loving Rivellini family of Westville and became a cherished sister to brothers Armand and Charlie.

Vera was a devoted communicate of Saint Joseph Church in Chester and was very involved with many church committees over the years. She became an active supporter of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement. She was an accomplished artist who worked in the oil medium since her youth. She had been a receptionist at Chesterfields in Chester for many years, followed by Essex Meadows Senior Living in Essex. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who felt raising her family was the most important gift that she could ever give. She was an accomplished cook, and her family Sunday dinners provided joy and the foundation for traditions for generations to come.

Vera leaves her children, John C. Pecoraro and his wife Ivy of Smithfield, Rhode Island, Joseph C. Pecoraro and his wife Debbie of Chester, Raymond Pecoraro of Clinton, and Charlene P. Calamaro and her husband Frank of Chester. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Vera was predeceased by her beloved 3-month-old infant son, baby Charles, in 1961.

Funeral services will be privately held by her family. Interment will take place in Saint Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.
